I second that much as I love England if Harry becomes boss I will become a supporter of 'Anyone but England' and happily cheer us to defeat until such time as someone removed the saggy faced, tax avoiding, brown bag swapping git from office.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Wally an employee of Southampton Football club not NC? So surely he has reached an out of court settlement with Southampton Football club not NC, I seriously doubt NC has had anything to do with it the legal department will have handled the whole thing with an agreed budget. Brinksmanship is common place in all sorts of cases the number that are settled just before the case is ridiculous and a total waste of court time personally I'd fine Wally for wasting the courts time. I'm not convinced it's MLT using that twitter account it just seems weirdly out of character, wish they'd kiss and make up though MLT is Southampton football club to me and it's such a shame for him not to be involved anymore.

It's funny really because a career ending injury would actually be the single biggest justification of his decision to move. The insurance pay out were that to happen would now be considerably larger as he is a multi million pound player earning big wages in the richest league in the world, he would no doubt be setup for life. Back on topic I'm Pleased for the lad, I always keep an eye out for ex-players I've liked and hope they are doing well. I was made up when Kevin Davies made his England debut and even though I want Totenham to loose every week I was pleased to see Bale tearing up the champions league last season. Life is too short to be bitter.

Well one from 2-3 years ago has just rocked up in the championship at Reading. they have just announced the signing of Cedric Baseya who looked like a decent prospect when he left us interested to see if he is still on track!
-
It's not nonsense, skint is relative. When trying to justify spending money it's difficult to justify spending it on a mediocre product like championship football but perfectly possible to justify spending it on a premium product like premier league football and the associated glory. Much like nobody can find a tenner for a pint on a monday but they can find 150 quid for a stag do on saturday. That and the glory fans who only watch the big games!

Are you seriously saying you would rather davis hoof 90% of the balls he recieves long down the pitch giving the oposition a 50/50 chance of getting the ball back? Good football sides don't play long ball we have defenders who are comfortable on the ball and a midfield packed with some of the best players in the division I'd hate to see us by passing this massive advantage and giving the oposition possesion. Back on topic, brilliant result amazing start to the season I can't believe how good it is to be a saints fan at the moment long may it continue!

His general point is right though, most posters seem to have taken a balanced view point and are saying that he looks ok and has already improved from his debut, I've not really seen one 'ringing endorsement' as you put it. There are then one or two posters thatchoose to pick up on the negatives in his performance and judge based on those alone, for example someone points out that he completely lost track of where the ball was ONCE during the game like this is some terrible crime happens to everyone from time to time especially a centre half wh has hardly played in 12 months. If it happens regularly it's an issue once it's not worth comenting on.
-
Might happen but probably won't like 99% of paper talk, either way I'm not too fussed just happy to be a saints fan at the minute it's nice to see us in the transfer gossip column not the going out of business or down the swanny section.

I'm not his biggest fan and was always annoyed by his appearence of running through mud (lots of effort but no speed) but he clearly wasn't and isn't as bad as many of you are making out he scored plenty of goals in our relegation season playing for a terrible side in his first season as a first team regular. Yes he maybe a bit of an idiot but lets be realistic at least. He'll struggle at Wednesday though, Megson has no idea what he's doing there and I think even Messi might fail to make an impact!
-
He was proper garbage I remember a game aginst Newcastle where we were 2 or 3 goals down very quickly with all of them being directly atributable to that waste of space and to think someone got him in to replace Benali, ridiculous.
-
Shame his career seemed to fall apart very quickly, a couple of injuries and some over exposure under the Dutch duo took what looked like a promoising upper championship midfielder and seemingly turned him into a non league player. Hope he does well and finds his way back into the football league soon.
-
Going to be a tough game I'm sure but I'd like to think we can turn them over at home going for a 1-0 win. Hopefully Richardson will be back and the defence with an extra weeks training together and a game in the dutch lads legs will be more together.
-
When exactly was he poor for us? Made his Premier league debut out of position at left back against Chelsea then got dumped at right back. The few games I remember seeing him actually at centre back like the Championship play off second leg he was outstanding.
-
Stupidly harsh on Claus nobody who is that crap would have appeared in as many premier league games as he did, seemes like the writer wanted to use that quote because it's classic Strachan so stuck him in regardless of ability the same is probably true of Carlton Palmer. The list is terribly written and misses out on one or two spectactular disasters that cost far more than our Claus, how about Sean Dundee 2 million quid 3 liverpool appearences no goals, Erik Meijer a fans favourite at liverpool despite managing 2 goals in 24 appearences or Ibrahima Bakayoko 4.5 million quid and 4 goals in an Everton shirt.
-
Hardly, I'd be happy to see him back in the red and white he is a class act at this level and would be happy to have him alongside Fonte.
-
Thats because your clealry not a real fan, before the age of 25 I had never worn anything but a saints replica kit, unless of course it was a side I was playing for which may or may not explain the picture of me in primary school wearing a liverpool shirt.

The only person really saying anything about us to the media is Warnock and he is a renowned gob sh!te who is probably hacked of that any player would even consider joining us over his mighty revolution at QPR. I agree this summers transfer dealings have been frustrating at times but I do like the fact we are being cautious with our money and only signing players that really want to be here. We could have spent the big bucks but thats a dangerous spiral I'd be fairly confident several of our top players have contract clauses meaning they get wage parity with any players comming into the club and if not I would expect a player like Lallana to be kicking the managers door down demanding a raise if we blew our wad on a player like Beckford. The team looks good and we are doing alot better than I ever expected this season, personally I'm happy to see Saints alive and stable and will enjoy what could be a few golden years in terms of on the field success. JP Trophy followed by a dramatic promotion and what is shaping up to be a great first season back in the Championship stop complaining and enjoy it life could be much worse we could all be Sheffield Wednesday fans.
-
I remember being well pleased with that bit of business, Prutton was Under 21 skipper and Higginbotham was just off the back of a brilliant spell at Derby and they were gutted to loose him. The club had a really positive feel around it in those days little did we know how soon it would all fall apart!
-
I think this season is viewed as one of consolidation and building with a bigger focus on promotion next season not saying that they wouldn't take it this year and I would expect if we are still knocking on the door come January we will see the cheque book opened a little. I'm not sure promotion this season would be ideal anyway as we would be looking at alot of new faces to stand any chance in the PL so I would expect an instant return to this level, with another season in the NPC we should have a team of players mostly ready and capable of playing in the PL.
-
Why we needed to rest Conolly and Chesterfield would much rather he arrive with some match fitness in his legs
-
Every time I read something like this I havea flash back to Sheffield Wednesday a few seasons ago when they hammered us about 5-0 half of which were Kelvins fault the crowd got on his back and he ended up giving us a 'nice salute' this place was baying for his blood after that. He's performed an amazing turn around!
-
The money could be much better spent elsewhere, obviously there is the slim possibility he will move to the championship and be a massive success by recent evidence from players making similar moves suggests not. We would be better off buying a proven league on striker or sticking with the ones we have as the quality level doesn't seem to be that different!
-
I imagine it will be a bit pricey for the average 'I'll have a pint of what ever is cheapest' football fan!
-
I remember when Strachan signed him there were a few grumbles but he came in and fixed our defensive issues in an instant he was a proper old fashioned rock at the back. Him and Telfer were inspired signings.
-
I would much rather we slowly built towards success than gambled vast sums of money and risked another spectacular and costly failure. Nolan would never have joined us he's only gone to West Ham besause Big Sam has some weird hold over him!
