  1. Lol, it must have made your day that you could resurrect GH 's name Lol. This is the man whose signings were Rosler and Draper. Who left us with a worse squad than he left us with and was in charge during the worst and most embarrassing TV defeat (far worse than FP in the relegation season) 3-0 up at Tranmere and his wonderful tactical brain managed to get us a defeat from that position. He organised the team that DJ built but that is where he stopped. He jumped ship, and shamefully left us in the lurch just as we were going to a new stadium. For me I didn't think we played very attractive football under him, just more organised.
  2. i thought Chester went to the wall only a year ago. If the case is that the courts will not liquidate, lets all go to the party and sign up whoever and compete with Man City in the transfer market
  3. The comedy thought police are in full swing here. MO made me laugh on many occasions, and is obviously funny enough to get some good gigs. You only have to read some of the threads on here about the so called 'wonderful' comedians like harry Hill to understand that humour has changed. The young don't get the older humour, much like myself when I used to hear Arthur Askey's stuff, I was cold to it and still dont see why my parents generation laughed at him. I do believe his siding in the politics of the club during the Lowe era did make him some enemies.
  4. yet again they will have got away with it. How long is it now that this thread has said they are toast but somehow they hang on and live again? I assume that the Pompey Trust are well informed and the talk of the Russians pulling out has long gone. SC will be plunging into the transfer market and yet again they will have a squad more than capable of holding their own and perhaps making a push for the PL. Please nobody ever tell me that British Justice is the best in the world......for cheats perhaps but not for fair pay. FIFA look like babes in arms compared to the way that lot run
  5. a snake said to his friend ,'is our venom poisonous?' 'why?' was the reply 'well I just bit my tongue'
  6. It seems to me that Pompey are like the moonlighting tradesman, the taxman and authorities seem to be oblivious to their actions. They must be offering big wages to get the squad together. I assume the Russians have given them the nod to chase up these players and get them ready to sign.
  7. all valid points above, and nobody wants us to lose and will love it if we do go up. The one thing above all is the concern that the price to go and watch the team could be beyond the pocket of a lot of fans who went when things were tough. They went and supported in the dark days. Supporting Saints and not going to games means that the price of a ticket is of no concern to them.I myself rarely go to away games and so don't care how we play as long as we win, home games are a different matter as i've paid. Perhaps that is the mindset of those who support Saints but dont go to games.
  8. Is Cork a good captain? His passion is great but is he not a bit too intense. Not as shrewd as Warne
  9. well you may be right but I know that we charged Bournemouth a large amount to play them in pre season a couple of years back.
  10. now I would expect that to cost them a lot of dosh. These teams don't visit for nothing. The Russian tie up may well be evident here.
  11. it is interesting to see that the general feel is against the costs of being in the PL. That must start to show more as the PL goes on. This season I have noticed more empty seats. The only thing i really miss is the lack of media coverage teams outside of the PL get, oh and the vanity of us being a PL club. I wished for the teams below the top 4 to break away from them and forming a league, when the big 4 were using their muscle to get their own way just before the CL was starting. Had the rest pulled away then the gap between the big and small would not be so vast. Of course the real difference started when gate receipts were not shared, unlike now where you keep your home receipts. i do understand the fairness in that but the league would be more even if the attendance money was split
  12. IMO the Pl is not the holy grail. I have Sky and dont bother to watch a lot of the games. Unless you are top 5 it is dull. Im sure the same can be sadi of the Championship, but it is a lot closer to the football i was brought up on. I hate watching the PL players like Wes brown etc on over 80k a week and resent the fact they are overpaid prim ma-donas. I dont think i can justify paying 70 notes to watch us play against Bolton/Blackburn/QPR/Norwich etc
  13. is this is true story, if not a def-inflation of character
  14. True, it wouldn't have anything to do with football and team spirit. Crabby obviously enjoys losing
  15. The Mogadon team talk really worked Lol. My team of braves had won the game by halftime. The injustice of the year before had been totally erased. We were so comfortable, in the second half i was able to relax and sit in the stands, even the Ref advised me to do so. I think Granty did you a favour cancelling this years as your embarrassment again would match the socks you wore. My PM box is full of messages of your team asking to be in my side, as they couldn't cope having to flick through all the piccys of you carrying Tigers bags and getting his food from the canteen.
  16. you must have really low esteem, you need to go and get some advice from the Doc
  17. interesting Tweet on Guido Fawkes about another PL footballer who may become prominent in the news quite soon. Not sure in what way, must be another injunction.
  18. Thanks, the costs investigating the old company could be pretty high
  19. before costs and expenses, so what costs and expenses can be deducted from the 20in the £ ?
  20. yep happy birthday Ron, the player who really sparked my imagination supporting Saints
  21. ESB you have got it in 1 IMO. I have been banging on about how the authorities have been duped time and again and many mocked me especially when I stated that i felt people pulled back when the PM (Brown) came out and said about not letting the club die etc etc. I believe that there is corruption being hidden all the way to the top of the powers in world football and where those tentacles end up ! It is extraordinary that the media have not questioned why the compliance officer of the FA happened to end up at the club that actually seems to have flouted those rules. It stinks and the smell of rotten fish fills the air of football. Mack is a decent type and he knows that it is rotten but like us throws his hands up that this happens to the beautiful game. If the Russians buy Pompey then we will go through the same again, buying lots of high value stars to get up to the PL and then hope that the throw of the dice will get the jackpot to pay off the debt and make a turn. It may be a blessing that some strong squads have been relegated as that will make the job a lot harder for them (us as well of course0
  22. iam not doubting your qualities, you are obviously a very intelligent person. I understand a lot of what you say about waste but we all miss things in front of our eyes. I have been in my business for over 35years and been fairly successful but I am not arrogant enough to think that younger fresher and people looking from a different angle may see things i miss. To audit such a vast budget must be a nightmare. Another thing that in one of your posts you mention the cost of drugs that your mother had. I think you said it had a cost of 200k. Only a few of us will pay that much and more into the kitty in our lifetime. I wonder how the nation can afford that especially as it is replicated 100,000's a times a year on patients of the NHS. All life is precious but how can we go on affording these costs? I'am not saying it shouldn't be done but where do the funds keep coming from? As we live longer the costs are just shooting up therefore saving where we can becomes more important. Those empty buildings are using precious resources.
  23. a family friend plays for Luton. He is a smashing lad and a good footballer. So i want Luton to win
  24. i believe that the web went so far up the football 'family' throughout world football and associations that they could in no way let all the stuff come to light. It does seem odd or massive a coincidence that the Football Association’s ex-head of integrity as CEO happens to have parachuted in. That many of the former executives were still in position well into the admins direction and do we know if all the computer data and records were left intact or due to clerical error much lost. It is heartening to see that there is going to be proper investigation into the clubs affairs and i dearly hope that the information required is still hiding deep in the computers hard drive.
  25. true and it probably was innocent but you don't see that often on captions. As usual im wrong lol
