As far as I’m aware Saints haven’t signed up to ifollow next season and will be doing our own thing so it’s very likely this could be a glimpse of things to come.

Enjoyed that today, not been to the Madejski for a while, was surprised just how shit the Reading turn out was, regardless of the occasion they really are a noddy fan base. Nice to see the signs of an identity forming after such a short space of time, contrast that to the clusterfuck that was the Jones era where we seemed to go backwards and the signs are encouraging. Good to see a lot of players chasing balls down and playing with an intensity we’ve not seen for a while, particularly Aribo when he came on. We probably have the worst pair of keepers in the Championship as it stands, that much I’m sure of. That, along with our awful forward options as it currently stands, is why we will be nowhere near promotion. Here’s hoping something changes massively on that front.

Funny old game, imagine telling the Reading fans that were giving it the big one after pipping us to the Championship title that we’d beat them twice the following season with them being managed by our ex manager for the second game, they’d get relegated and we wouldn’t meet again for 10 years, at which point they’d be in League One ready to start the season with another of our ex managers, only this one is one of the worst managers the Premier League had ever seen, and we’d still be above them in the football hierarchy.

No, it’s funny they go through the effort to include subtle things like the Hummel authentic product badge in the bottom right corner, and the Hummel pipe work inside the neck, but then miss the roses in the stripes and the Hummel shoulder arrows. The EFL badges are screen printed too rather than the 3D effect felt of the proper ones. Can’t decide if it bothers me for how little I wear kits. They’ve got the white shirt on there now, and I’ve ordered the blue flame admiral kit which I’m curious to see as I’ve still got the original to compare it to. £40 for Kingsland “plus” is a pisstake

The amount of goals we scored with the Richardson/Butterfield/Fox ball into Lambert at the back post was a joy to watch. A big centre forward with heading ability like Rickie is key for next season.

The Danny Fox of this promotion campaign!! Sounds like a decent solid signing for us, a round peg for a round hole. Be interesting to see how we set up on both wings with Mara, Perraud and Manning available on the left, and then KWP, Tino and Bree on the right all on the books currently.

What a match this is though, everyone back to hating the Aussies, The usually respectful lords crowd on their backs, and Ben Stokes playing every bit the captains role dragging us back into it.
