Noodles34 Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 we must have some serious investors coming to let this happen, not DMG's biggest fan but he would have scored 10 to 20 goals next season guaranteed.

Psycrow Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 hmmmm, not sure what to think... except for the fact that I would have thought that all transfers should be put on hold until the takeover is complete and a new manager is in... if at all possible. saints_is_the_south Posted 29 June, 2009 Author Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Would have bagged 20+ goals in League 1 imo, shame. Still, pays the wages i guess.

I'd say its the exact opposite, to be honest. If we had some serious investment coming in our players may actually be tempted to stay. In the obviousl absence of such, you can't blame any one of the players wanting to get away from the shambles we've become.
doggface Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 despite some goals, I have never been very impressed with mcgoldrick - his attitude stinks imo and he rarely put in a good shift. good riddence. Hopefully we got a fair price that can contribute/pay the wage bill.

The9 Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Good God, he was EVER-PRESENT last season !?!?!?! No wonder we got relegated. My overall opinion is "meh", as if he does for them what he did for us he won't score many for them next season before he gets dropped. I can't imagine what Davies thinks he's getting, though he is the kind of manager that might give him the kick up the ar5e he so desperately needs. Chez Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 there's 6 or 7 strikers now at Forrest so he's going to have to work hard to get a shirt. That might be just what he needs to turn him from a talented player into a top quality player

LostBoys Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Very disappointed and with the news that it has been under negotiation for 6 weeks sheds further dount on Pinnacle's financial credentials. saint1977 Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 That's half of Nick H's news proved right, Surman next then. DMG had a good end to last season after a rather uneven season and may do better in his home environment at Forest. Certainly Davies will get him a lot fitter as the fitness levels at SFC last season were appalling and this summer will only have made them worse. The club is skint and cannot pay the wages. That's how it is. Despite all the rhetoric of Pinnacle and the other consortia, there is no money coming in until the takeover is complete and the club cannot run the risk of losing all the players. The McGoldrick money should provide a stay of execution until takeover day and the club starts selling season tickets.

We must be pragmatic and so the wages will be paid which is the priority at the moment if we are to have any players left. Very disappointed with what ? If we were selling him before Pinnacle were even involved (and he was rumoured to be going before the Play-Offs were even finished) it's hardly something they'd have much say in unless they were planning on relocating Southampton to Nottinghamshire or ramping up his wages after a decidedly mediocre season. I'd have sold him anyway, even knowing he's scored a few in League One before.
bungle Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 Very disappointed that he's gone. Got a lot of talent and will improve massively. Sticky, I sez. At the moment, we have Rasiak and Saganowski. Oh, and Euell, and Stern John until Wednesday. And Matt Paterson. And McLaggon. And Jack Boyle. And Jamie White, though I think he's still injured. And last season we had two other strikers come in on loans, so that's not unprecedented either. And if we're taken over, we might even buy someone. Well seeing as he was desperate to get away what difference does it make if some think he was tosh and others think he is Maradona mk2? This message board is about opinions - McG was always going to infuriate some with his lazy gait...he wasn't the first...Trevor Hebberd used to get the same stick at The Dell. Gorgiesaint Posted 29 June, 2009 Share Posted 29 June, 2009 No surprise given his desire to move back to Nottingham with his family situation. Seems to a decent fee - surprised that Forest would pay £1m + for a player who could have been out of contract in 2 weeks without a takeover going ahead so does this say anything about a deal being done? Let's hope he doesn't join a long line of ex-strikers to come back & bite having left SFC - Blackstock, Best, Davies, Beattie, Phillips and so on (sure I've missed some out...)
