Dan Johnson Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 I'm pretty sure this statement is purely to protect ego's. The football leagues statement highlights the fact the only stumbling block was proof of funds... Pinnacle then come back with a statement that basically reads "ohhhh ohhhh really, funds the only issue... well we might take another look then" Knowing full well that they dont have the funds to complete. This, I suspect, is the last you will hear of Pinnacle

We could lump it in TSW broom cupboard, along with words such as "Lowe" and "Wilde" and throw in some users to keep them company - "Sundance Nineteen Canteen" and "Bungle", esq. Sorted! Greenridge Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 The key paragraph being the last one “To proceed, all it (Pinnacle) needed to do was to provide clarification in regard to funding and sign the contract,” the FL spokesman said. They clearly couldn't do it then so why should they be able to do so now. IMO their reputation has been tarnished beyond the point they would have the support of the fans. Beer Engine Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 For the record I feel very let down by MLT. How many times did he give interviews telling us in all seriousness that the Pinnacle deal would be completed within a few hours and he would be installed as chairman. MLT's utterances were the only reason I kept any faith with Pinnacle. I could not believe that he could sound so sincere if he were not telling the truth. stthrobber Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 [/url] “We advised our advisers of this decision, and the basis of that decision, and they in turn made our stance known. Let me be clear that in publicly withdrawing our offer based on the conditions that I understood needing to be met, we did not, nor have lost our interest in the Club" Er, what? The conditions as he understood them were a 15 point deduction, not 10 which was understood to be the main sticking point, well, ok, that was after the right to appeal the 10 point deduction, which was the sticking point in the first instance. You know, the one that took them 3 weeks not to sort out. So if I understand correctly, it's something else entirely which caused them to er, advise their own advisors. Couldn't by any chance be a shortfall of, somewhere in the region of several million quid could it? Oh and whilst we're on the subject, of Mr Fialka, why is he always seemingly quoted in the Jewish Chronicle? Not that I'm dissing that rag by any means, but it's hardly mainstream is it. Could it be that with a limited circulation, he only looks like a complete ***t amongst his own?
eelpie Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Fialka: “However, I was very pleased to learn today that the Football League have made it known that, in the event of a takeover, no further sanctions will be issued to Southampton Football Club. " I'm afraid I do not believe anything from Mahwhinny ever since he once said that Southampton could always appeal against the the FL's decision to deduct 10 points, then changed his mind. The threat of further deductions has been at the heart of the uncertainty, and the FL could have clarified this a long time ago, saving a lot of fatally wasted time and money. Mahwhinny has much to answer for.

I think I'd still prefer having the optimism of MLT running the club than any of the other deals... but then who knows how much money the others will bring.
