Smirking_Saint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 So, I know we had a poll earlier when we didn't really know what was going on but i just wondered what everyones opinion is now ?? I am just thinking that with everything going on at the moment and the massive wave of enthusiasm running through the saints fans ranks that it will galvanise and greatly improve the attendance outlook for next season. I seriously think we will sell many many ST's and have a very good attendance during the season. Especially if we get someone like KK, WGS or Coppell in ?? I think ML knows what he is doing, he knows to keep our enthusiasm up especially as ST sales are going on. This is still so unreal for me. Where was the 32k sell outs at the end of last season. I think everyone concerned will be happy with average crowds of 20k and ST sales of around the 12k mark. Anything above these would be a great bonus anything below a major disappointment. In 2 days I'm not sure Mr Liebherr has grasped in that time 'what keeps our enthusiasm up' as ST sales are an economic and administrative necessity as for the club and not simply a way of maintaining a bouyant mood. Those types of decisions remain to be communicated. Mind you very pleased my 2 ST will cost me £184 less than last year. How they have rewarded the loyal fan from last year is so unreal for me and most pleasant.

I didn't mean that he has put ST's on sale to increase our mood as such, was saying that if he bouys the mood of the fan base now he has placed the ST's on sale i believe that he could sell a few more. Especially if we manage to get a decent manager in and a few signings. I think it will be a busy few weeks at St Marys.
Nineteen Canteen Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Might start off well, but think we'll average 14,000. Could see a lot lower than that given the high matchday prices, there just won't be any walk up on the days. Blimey Adrain that's a bit gloomy even for me. That's probably less than 10,000 ST sales and I would be surprised if many of those with a option to renew do not take up that option and that is about 9,000. If we dip below the 16,000 mark and the nemesis factor has been removed then many will be questioning the commitment of our fanbase. Personally, I don't believe Mr Liebherr will bankroll the club to any worthwhile extent unless he see's his support being rewarded throough the gates. The product is there the promise is back so why such a gloomy prediction?
Toadhall Saint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Might start off well, but think we'll average 14,000. Could see a lot lower than that given the high matchday prices, there just won't be any walk up on the days. I think your wrong - if we do well there will always be walk ups on the day. As for ST's we could/should reach your ave prediction of 14000 - I'm more concerned about the away support in this league, Leeds & Millwall will bring a few but who else? Could see a lot lower than that given the high matchday prices, there just won't be any walk up on the days. I would hope for 15,000 since this is League 1 and most teams are not top draws. But all depends on how well we are doing. Get momentum towards the Play-Offs and everything could be different. But I fear a few early season defeats before we start to erode those -10 points. Let's not forget we have to rebuild from a team that is only half fit for purpose at this moment in time.

What are matchday prices like at other clubs in the division? It was £24 in the wings last year, so they've come down a little bit, but I'm always surprised at how much tickets cost in the lower leagues. Saint Nobby Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Well, I know this will make me sound like a tight wad BUT ... I didn't renew last season because times are hard and I wasn't prepared to pay the asking price for more of the miserable football we had seen in the previous 2 or 3 seasons. Now the new prices are out and yes, they are cheaper and maybe the future looks brighter, but I still can't afford to take the gamble. I think pricing them lower and selling more would have really got us off to a great start. I'll be there for at least 50% of the home games and a handful of away ones too - I wish they'd have made a "no brainer" offer I couldn't refuse! david in sweden Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 (edited) Might start off well, but think we'll average 14,000. Could see a lot lower than that given the high matchday prices, there just won't be any walk up on the days. I agree that logically, ANY side relegated to L1 might have decreased attendances, but suddenly our situation is a bit different than it might have been if " another " consortium had bought Saints instead. Liebherr is obviously not going to stint on a basic investment, (as others might have done) now that he's bought the club. Look to see a "high-profile " manager appointed in the coming days, with a few £mill. to spend on new squad members capable of kicking us up to CCC ...ASAP. I think a good start will give us 20K + gates, and as soon as the -10 points disappear, we'll start to move up the table. If that's the case we might well see some larger crowds. The9 Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I think we'll get 22,000 for the opener and settle somewhere around the 18,000 mark into October, with subsequent attendances depending on our form and league position, ranging from 12k (inc ST holders) for rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrubbish and adrift, to 26k if we're winning every game. And I'd like to thank the club for offering discounted prices to last season's ST holders as well...
saints triumph Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Playing well and winning 16000+, playing crap and losing lucky to get 12000 . Challanging for play offs/ promotion 23000+. IMHO
wild-saint Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 and how many people will buy a season ticket now because they can take thier kid along for pretty much fook all. I spent 390 on a ST last season plus my 6yr old went to around 15 games at £10 a time so overall that worked out at £540 against £350 this season. Bargain. I think there will be a rush to renew and then next week a high profile manager will be announced and maybe a decent payer or two and then there will be a second rush. SaintRobbie Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Depends entirely on the managerial appointment and who he's allowed to buy in the summer. The first gate will be the indicator of what Saints can have this season, every other will be results based.

1976_Child Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I reckon we will get 20K+ if we come out fighting from the start. Having GS/KK would help things. But if the season gets off to a whimper and the -10 proves to be a millstone around our neck then I reckon by Christmas we will be down to about 16K But I hope we get 32,000 every game

Doctoroncall Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 I was thinking that STs will be around the 10-12k mark but the pairing STs will push that up quite a bit. I would hope it can get to 20k, but I think I'm being a bit optimistic, unless there is a decent manager and good form!

Someone calculated that it's cheaper to buy a SH if you're going to attend 14 or more games. Given you're saying you will attend 50%+ (i.e. 12 or more), I'd recommend a season ticket. Also: 1. You get an Ajax ticket for free. 2. You may well need a ST to get away tickets - by memory, some of the away allocations are less than 1,000. You may find a ST is prerequisite for getting in to a lot of away games. HTH.
dellgirl Posted 10 July, 2009 Share Posted 10 July, 2009 Well said Andy Beal, after all the gloom and sniping and wishing on a star ..we got the star and there is more to come so we should ALL try to scrape together the money for the season ticket and support the club we so nearly lost..we might not be so lucky again COYR...
