Trouble before and after the game.

I hope its not true and doubt that it is, because there will have been something official by now, or if it was before the game an announcement will probably have been made asking for witnesses during the match, like they did last year when the poor man collapsed at the top of Britannia road last season

all i will say is that the amount the majority of their fans seemed to be drinking was nothing short of rediculous from what i saw. bad bad anti-scoial behaviour from not just a few in the minority, but the majority IMO. when will they get the message that football has moved on from the 70s and 80s? no1 likes u and u dont care? get a bloody moral conciouns (sp) and grow up.

when our fans consume alcohol away from home the most anti-social we seem to get is shouting 'there's only 1 tesco' very loudly and disrupting a few happy shoppers. for us to be classed in the same policing category as them is a scandel and nothing short of defamation of our club.

I did'nt drive today so went up via the big metal electric thing. As I live in Hayling Island I have to go through Poopey. On the way back, there was some trouble in Fratton and outside the pub, Poopey's "top boys" were given some TLC by Millwall lot.

A few select fans of all four teams Gers,Saints,Millwall and Pompey APPARENTLY had a met.

I once died in Yates. Some bint poured her drink over me after my chat up line effort was rejected..

there is no time for joking in this thread. If this is true it is a utter disgrace. Millwall fans are a disgrace. They didnt even care about the football. They were to interested in our fans. If this is true then its time for millwall to get what they have deserved for a long time.

unreal....

I have a feeling we will see more trouble in this poxy league

Can't see it being that bad. If anything the trouble that we do see will be instigated by Saints fans more than the oppositions fans.

As already mentioned there was a HUGE fight outside the fat cat at around 5 - a good 50 or so millwall fans went after 10 or so who wisely chose to scatter two guys did get the **** kicked out of them and there was blood everywhere - it could have been a lot worse had two police vans, 5 cars and a few cars with dogs in the back not shown up sharpish

well done to the police today - things could have been a LOT worse had they not shown up cos that really was mental

Put it this way, I was meeting some mates in Bedford place today at about 11, and the old bill was everywhere. Out of no where a group of about 30 -40 lads aged between 16-18 appeared and were escorted back towards town.

I spoke to one of the coppers observing and asked if it was Millwall, and his reply was "no, this is the wonderful southampton youth"

But after the game we were in The Varsity and I was outside having a fag and talking to the door staff. All of a sudden his "pub watch" radio went off and it said all pubs in Bedford Place, London Road were to lock all their doors and not let anyone in until further notice so it seems it did go off

this does not shock me at all..

I really fear for our "youth" when they try to 'mix it' with the Millwall lot..

I have been to the Den (what an apt name) a few years back when Theo scored..and even though it was low key really, you did get the vibe at the game and the surrounding area that it was full of mentalists

I think it's probably safe to say the suggestion that someone was stabbed and/or killed is probably untrue - the Echo website would have run with a big story like that by now.

my thoughts exactly, when we had the Cardiff grief last year that was on BBC and Echo within hours

I'm 99% sure there was no stabbing at Yates' after the game - not unless no ambulance was sent. I work in an office overlooking above bar and although I could see out the window about 40-50 police sorting out big groups both before and after the game, I didn't see an ambulance. At one point the sirens were goin off and 4 or 5 cars/wagons drove up Above Bar towards the bargate but I don't know where they went.

Seemed to me was both Millwall and Saints fans behaving like prats. In the middle of town, with families and small children walking around it really was disgraceful to see (although granted, I would not take any children into town with Millwall about!)

At one point there was a group of about 15-20 I think Millwall fans (men and women) right outside Que Pasa f'ing and blinding at the Police for a good 20/30mins. Pointless ****ed behaviour.

From what I have been told....

Large group of about 30/40 Youth went to Yates at about 11:15 to have a pop at Milwall, OB kept both apart and moved everyone on.

All kicked off after the game in the city centre.

Large group of saints lads 100 + came up from the Eagle and had it with a a large group of Milwall, saints were pushed back by police and all ran down the through the park and alley way by Que Pasa for another go at Milwall. OB eventually wrapped them up and escorted them past the Old fat cat and into Bedford place.

A few other little scuffles all over town really, but no stabbings.

all i have heard now is that it all kicked off in yates and this person was stabbed outside. I did witness a large 30 something knock out a teenager. He attacked him from behind. Shame.

was this just after the footbridge as the millwall lot came over northam bridge? as there was some antanonising from the millwall as i went past, and talk of someone being knocked out, did have to move out the way for a guy to lean his mate against the wall there as he couldn't stand.

Ah, the 'whose the ****** in the pink?' game!?!

FWIW, I have to echo the sentiments of some of the people on here. Let's face it, some of us, including myself, consider some of our fanbase (or locals) as uppity gob****es.

I do not possess the true facts on this ocassion but going on past incidences and the things I've seen in recent times, I wouldn't be surprised if Saints fans didn't instigate it. Let's face it, a few of our 'fans' who like a bit of 'bovver' were probably itching to have a go a club like Millwall, with their reputation - and let's face it, it doesn't take a lot to get them riled, does it?

have our fans become more scummy, is it the teams we play now, or am i only noticing now? because i never noticed much, if any trouble after games in the premier league. ok, maybe the odd small incident, but never large groups, never any huge police presence. now it seems regular, if not most games. thought that was all a thing of the past.

I think it's to do with when we got to the cup final in 2003. This obviously attracted a whole new group of kids who started following saints, rather than following one of the traditional 'big teams' they started to follow us. Now, 6 years on, they are closer to going through puberty and as such get a little over excited about stuff. I'm pretty sure that over the next couple of years their balls will drop and then they will get over the whole hoolie, look at me thing. Then once that excitement goes they'll settle into the more usual saints supporting experience and get used to the ups and downs that come with supporting saints :)

Can't imagine the Millwall 'mob' would come along with women in toe... quite possibly a justified rant by a group of scarfers after being set upon by our own feral 'yoof' ???

Yeah I was in Bedfords at the time. A bunch of Millwall fans (20+) went in to The Red Lion.

NO one deserves to get stabbed i was stabbed back in jan this year in winchester i didnt mouth off or cause anyone any trouble to make them want to harm me, this could be the case here people who carry knifes are cowards who would hurt you even if you didnt mouth off or give it large to them.

Hope this is not true.

Was in Old Fat Cat playing pool with 4 mates after game when mate said look outside as a table was launched into doors coppers were o the scene in secs

Talking to group of non football lads who were sat outside it seems that millwall woman started the trouble with a very clever comment of " YOU SOUTHAMPTON? " as she pushed over a sign then millwall blokes started throwing tables & chairs

Made us laugh that the mighty Millwall yob attacked a pub with only about 20 people in it including staff worst thing about the whole scuffle was the police closed the pub so we had to find another pub letting in football shirts
