benjii Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 We must do everything we can to sign this lad in January. He has the potential to be the bedrock of our defence all the way through L1 and the CCC. Well done to Pardew, not just for this but for everything so far. What a refreshing feeling to have a competent manager and leadership from top down. I'm looking forward to our next match already. It's been a long time coming! RedAndWhite91 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I agree, would love it if we kept hold of him. Even if it was a loan extension to the end of the season, Trotman has been terrific so far and would be annoying to lose him half way through the season. He's improved so much too. Remember when he first came, he was described as a no-nonsense defender but couldn't kick it straight. Well he was throwing dummies at their strikers in tight spots, he was doing fancy turns, everything. Brilliant. Both he and Jaidi have been a breath of fresh air. Docker Walker6 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 Believe there was a bit of history with Irvine, when his loan is up, he will be in the last year of his contract, surely we can secure his services.
Block 5 Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 Agreed. Sign him up. Chris Perry is good cover but is a little off the pace.....

Where do you think we would finish if we were moved into the CCC now? I reckon upper mid table.
S-Clarke Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I hope trotts is looking at the longer term situation...and doesn't just jump back to PNE to play at a higher level. ...PNE are skint and could go into administration any time soon, to possibly avoid that they will have to start selling off their better players, which will = league 1. I can see a few sticky years coming up for preston....but i can see it being alot more comfortable here, with a chance of genuine silverware. Smirking_Saint Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 He seems happy here, and if he has really had a barney with the PNE management then all the more reason. The south coast is a fantastic place to live and as a young player at this level (and probably CCC) then who would be a better man to learn from then Jaidi ?? Pardew also seems to be getting the best out of players and seems a great man for the youngsters to learn and grow with. He was my MOM yesterday, very overlooked i thought as he didn't give the dons a sniff.
Huntingdon Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I think a good indication will be the Bristol Rovers FA Cup tie. If Preston won't let him play, they are obviously expecting him back at Deepdale for January. If he plays, he's clearly not in their plans
ottery st mary Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 I really hope that there is some agreement for the continuation after Jan or even a fee already agreed for Jan window. Same for Big Ant and papa where did you go again.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 As a point of order my I point out that there are only two 'T's in Trotman . http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~37009,00.html Failure to heed this warning in future will result in the boys being sent round to sort the offender out . Gis Posted 25 October, 2009 Share Posted 25 October, 2009 He seems so much happier on the ball now - he was just a head or hoof player when he started with us. And wasn't it Trotman with the 'Delap' type throw in from the Kingsland side on Saturday, this might actually be a good ploy now we have loads of players who are good in the air? Junior Mullet Posted 26 October, 2009 Share Posted 26 October, 2009 I would be very happy if we signed Trotman. He's getting better all the time and is an excellent foil for Jaidi. Trotman was my MOTM on Saturday by a whisker.

Ex Ringwood Saint Posted 26 October, 2009 Share Posted 26 October, 2009 My MOM too. Immense and I thought he played the ball well on the deck...I had heard that was one of his weaknesses...Anyway Needs to be kept and could be a key player as we climb back up the leagues.... Exactly, it's not just the fact he'd doing the business now but I think he can play a key role in the CC and possibly if continues to develop, the Prem. He seems level headed and composed, doesn't give silly free-kicks away, dominant in the air, a threat at set-pieces, reads the game well and is looking useful with the ball. It's a long-time since we've had such a complete centre back. I know it's early days but he has huge potential IMO.
West End Saint Posted 26 October, 2009 Share Posted 26 October, 2009 I have said on a couple of other threads that if we only make 1 signing in Jan please let it be Trotters this lad has a future centre back is a position you get better at as you get older even if we paid a million for him I think we could still end up making money sign him up A P
