Nineteen Canteen Posted 8 February, 2010 Share Posted 8 February, 2010 Murty saying Cortesse's comments were clever and have taken all the pressure of the players for the next two games. Then Murty must be a bit thick. If that takes all the pressure off for the next two games he is ignoring the expectation of 26,000 + Saints fans expecting a performance. All pressure off = complacency in my book and if Cortese's mistimed publicity stunt is benefical to our chances in reaching the JPT final, and slim hopes of progression in the FA Cup and slimmer hopes of a play off place then we may as well talk about avoiding the loss of the 5 point gap to relegation as a realistic objective. Pardew will be feeling the pressure and some of that 'urgency' will filter through to the players and the crowds and I predict lots of energy sapping and mistake laden nervous tension for us all. IMO Thanks to Nicky's badly timed comments by 5pm a week on Saturday our season will be about survival and then mid table bore draws, before all change. Some things never change. NickG Posted 8 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 8 February, 2010 think Murty is better placed to comment on the feelings of players than you, and his view from in the camp hardly warrants being called thick. maybe worth going back to the NC comments to get it into perspective? Why? Will it change the atrocious timing? .... and Murty is hardly going to say anything else on national TV given he will most likely be out of a job come May unless we gave him more than a year's contract. I think you're reading far, far too much into the comments which really were quite positive in favour of Saints....i.e. for each element of each of the clubs examined, Saints came out on top and the arguement for Pompey was extremely mute. Murts did a good job bigging up Saints without appearing smug or over-confident. Top guy.

Lets give the player some real **** on saturday. Lets boo them when they come out and call them names everytime they get on the ball because they don't feel no sense of urgency and they definatly don't want to win anything at all. Why would they. Tamesaint Posted 9 February, 2010 Share Posted 9 February, 2010 only on saints forum - current saints player talks positively about the club so must be thick! No - only in the mind of Nineteen Canteen. He has been quiet lately . He keeps having the odd dig at Matt Le Tiss but nobody is biting so he is starting on this line now. Expect more to come from him on how we have a season left of battling for survival with all our thick players. He claims to be a Saints fan yet doesn't realise that the Pompey game does not finish at 5pm on saturday. I can only guess that he doesn't plan on attending the game - despite the many season tickets that he claims to buy!!!

Tame I was commenting on Murty's view that Cortese's press release about the importance of the league had taken the pressure off - really? Sorry but I think he is a bit thick if he thinks that and I doubt Pardew feels the pressure is off, do you? Re read my post I said by 5pm a week on Saturday, thats the 20th Feb to be pedantic as Cortese has said he expects us to get our league season back on track away to Norwich no less. It read to me like a demand dressed as a threat and so by 5pm a week on Saturday and to make that clear the 20th Feb after we have lost to Norwich what is Cortese going to do? Sack Pardew for what has been all things considered a great season ruined by the injury to Hammond. Read what I write before you cut and paste your tired responses. NickG Posted 9 February, 2010 Author Share Posted 9 February, 2010 he is with Pardew every day. probably sees Cortesse fairly frequently. unlike people on here he will not base his view on the over analysis of two sentences from Cortesse but what he says day to day. He will also pick up on how players and manager are feeling Pardew spoke of him being a good link between manager and players If he feels that it is not a heavy comment and takes pressure off the cup games then I accept his view. If deciding who is thick, between a player articulating on tv something he knows about in detail, or someone who has read a two line comment and uses that to say he knows best what is in the mind of that player and others - I know which one is sounding thick!
