SNSUN Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 There are MUCH better places to park and MUCH better places to get the train from than those! PIck my local car park for work for instance. Hounslow West, ok there's a car boot on a Sunday which halves the car park capacity, but it's free to park there on a Sunday, and, with one change at Green Park, you can get to Wembley Park and back for £7.50 (or £5 with a railcard). It's just a matter of research. I'll see if I can find Engineering Works for that weekend and post them up here.

Wurzel Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 All day at the Old Deer Park car park (surface car park on the A316 couple minutes walk to station) is only £7.50 Agree with SNSUn though, helluva tube journey from there.

Sour Mash Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 Agree, why on earth do people look to drive to Richmond? OK, its an easy enough drive from Southampton, but its no-where near Wembley. Try somewhere like Ruislip or Uxbridge, plenty of differnt options, cheaper and 15/20mins to Wembley. Is it? If you take the train to West Hampstead and then Jubilee Line to Wembley Park, it's just 3/4 hour and fairly simple.
Torres Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 I'll see if I can find Engineering Works for that weekend and post them up here. Yeah, you might want to check that as I suspect there will be on the overground route between Richmond and Willesden Jct. Edit - yep. No Sunday service from Richmond until May 2011. Thought so. That's f*cked me up too.
Gudz Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 That Richmond - West Hampstead line is the skankiest & most unreliable in London! A mate of mine is Driving to Rickmansworth (right on the M25) then getting the Metropolitan line straight in. Sound idea considering a vast proportion of the tube traffic will be heading south from Wembley after the game.

Yeah Rickmansworth is a decent option, as you say right on the M25 and a big multi-storey car park (not sure about prices) right next to the tube station. You get lots of people parking all over the north west London suburbs and getting the tube in a couple of stops. If you choose to drive its the easiest way of doing it. mdearlove Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 Go park around Harrow, Ruislip, Hillingdon etc. Further to drive but pretty easy places to get to from the M25. Only 3 stops on the tube from Harrow.

ponto1963 Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 I've pre-booked parking at Wembley, I was going to bus up with my 2 boys, but when I looked at the prices for the three of us I decided it would be cheaper & easier to drive. Especially being a Sunday. Book Wembley parking here http://www.csparking.com/stadium/Default.aspx only £26.50 per car & surprisingly quite a few places left. Sour Mash Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 Any of these have all day sunday parking for a quid like they do at Wimbledon? Some will have residents only parking nearest to the station, others will have free parking around the tube stations in the side streets etc. Do a bit of reseasrch and you should have a quick/cheap journey to Wembley. Cheers Ponto - have booked that car park. Assume traffic will be a bit of a nightmare that close to the ground but with four of us in the car there's not a lot in it paying £26.50 or getting four train tickets in from a remote station. Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 I actually suggest parking somewhere on the road like Teddington then getting the train round to Richmond. Or Staines. Feltham Station car park is free from what I remember too.

SNSUN Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 I use West Ruislip when going to England games. Easy to park and only one stop to Wembley. Get there early though. The Majestic Channon Posted 22 February, 2010 Share Posted 22 February, 2010 We always parked near stamford brook station and got the tube from there, go over the chiswick flyover , straight on for about ½ a mile, right at t junction a few yards then left and there you are, it's a quiet out the way station with plenty of side roads with free parking.
