Where did you go?

Was at the Green Man too - maybe next time all SWF folks should have a 'secret' handshake or a special badge (there you go, some more revenue for the site!).

Got to the Green Man at 09:30 and was amazed at how very very quickly it filled up. What a great day!

Our coaches rolled in just after then, must say that Mal the landlord is a top bloke, shut off half the pub for our coaches for when we arrived and sorted me out 25 pint vouchers for bringing the coaches there.. top bloke!

silverspoons was indeed rubbish. We didn't even bother going back after the match. We thought it would be quite a tidy place, but it was like a massive Shirley club. Not a rant by the way. Nothing would ruin today :)

What is it with poncey Bedford place? Met up with some mates about 9 o clock and 3 bars wouldn't let us in (even though it was quiet). Nobody had replica shirts on. A couple of our lot had saints polo shirts but still refused entry. Can't even go in your home town bars after a cup final win ffs. Maybe we needed poncey spikey hair and a student ID ffs

Went to Silver spoons. Was awful and a total waste of money!

DJ had clearly never done DJing before. He was drunk, having conversations over the mic, playing unknown 60s hits and joining in over the mic with the very few chants we could get going and getting them wrong leading to them being drowned out. Beer was ****, ques were worse and was full of plastics.

Everyone hated that guy! Absolute t0sser!!

The Globe opposite Baker St tube. As it got too busy, some pub 5 mins around the corner for a couple of rip off beers. Aftwards back to Baker St. Globe was shut, found a better pub about 10 mins away serving nice ale.

Great day out. Everywhere red and white and on the way home from Waterloo too.

Anticipating long queues I'd brought my own vodka and coke in 2 small coke bottles. Due to the ease of getting drinks at green man I still had 1 1/2 bottles left. I expected to hand them in at Wembley but the kind steward gave me a cup and then poured the drinks in. I spent the first half drinking vodka and coke watching game. Fantastic!

Fret ye not. You are protected under UK consumer law. If you entered into a contract with said establishment (i.e. Purchased a ticket) and the level of service received did not match the level of service agreedat the time of purchase then you are entitled to a refund.

It's as simple as that (Huey Lewis and the News, 1987)

Globe at Baker Street. Was busy, but a doddle to get served all morning.

After the game the Duke of Wellington (nr the Lituanian embassy!) and the Laddik, followed by a curry in the Ganges, and then a quick pint near Paddington. Happy days.

Globe opposite Baker Street couldn't be faulted, cram packed but never waited for more than a couple of minutes to be served.

Obviously the Met had decided we are dangerous people and closed all pubs in the vicinity of Baker Street from 15.00, Is that customary after a Wembley match?

We went to the Duke of Wellington, close by, decent pint & less expensive and on to London Bridge for a couple of favourite SE London pubs.

Then had to endure SWT to get home. Absolutely awful; we've got the worst public transport system in Europe.

So where was all the pre-match atmosphere?

Green Man was quality, good atmosphere, plenty of places to get a beer, nice food etc...

I heard Silverspoons was a let-down? Lots of people in the Green Man who had left there.

What other places did people head to?

Green Man was great - got there about 10o'clock.

BTW Stu...I concur with your views on flags now....f'kin annoying.

Stu also runs 18-30 holidays to Romsey for anyone interested.

Pub round Baker Street on the way out. Pub in Embankment on the way back.

It was the four cans of M&S belgian lager on the train that really finished me off mind.

I was going to stick the bloke behinds me flag up his arse and start waving the c*nt around at one point... On a good note, I was in the back row of four rows of our group, so I didnt have any flag waving mongs directly in front of me.

Went to the wetherspoons in baker street, pretty good and on route to wembley

I got to Metropolitan (wetherspoons at Baker St) about 10 to 10 and waited with at least 150 others for it to open, after half hour place was absolutely packed with Saints fans but everyone was able to get served reasonable well and they must have made an absolute bomb form beer and food sales, great atmoshere in there.

Afterwards tried pubs around Marleybone and Baker St but all pubs closed so went down on Jubilee line to London Bridge and had 4 pints in Wheatsheaf before betting train home

Fleet services there and back plenty of fan bonding in the queue for the loo:p. Feel sorry for the one Carlisle fan must have been one lonely **** surronded by a couple of hundered saints fans. To be honest by the time we found the special cheap carpark we'd been told about we only had time to go straight to the stadium and watch the match.

Went to the Metropolitan bar and it was gash. Should have gone to the Green man or the Globe really. Was heaving but luckily the bar staff where decent and never took more than 5 minutes to get served.

Went to the Wellington and the Hole in the wall afterwards, great atmosphere in those two.

Shame that was our last London away of the season. :(

There were around 60 or so Saints fans on the 7:45am ferry from Ryde. The connecting train left Portsmouth Harbour and a few minutes up the line about half-a-dozen Saints fans in stripes joined at Portsmouth & Southsea. Full marks to them and full marks plus double bonus points go to the three Saints shirted fans who got on the train at Fratton. More and more joined as the train neared London with a large number getting on at Guildford.

Waterloo station was awash with red and white and also the police – was it really necessary to have quite so many? Tube to the pubs at Baker Street where the open-top buses gave the tourists a great view not only of Sherlock Holmes but of thousands of Saints fans.

The new stadium is a vast improvement on the old dump, large open areas around the arena and equally spacious inside but the sound system was shocking; could not make out any of the announcements at all.

The game itself was a bit strange – we won comfortably enough but never seemed to get anywhere near peak form. A real joy to see all the Saints fans and reading on here there were over 51,000 - then I guess after Manchester United and Arsenal when they play at home this was the third largest ever recent gathering of fans of one club in England – and the largest ever when not at their home ground. Presumably this is a record that might be equalled but unlikely to be surpassed?

One thing sticks in the mind about the return journey; looking down from the top of the escalator at Waterloo and seeing just about every passenger below me on the moving staircase in red & white, waving flags and cheering. And a similar scene, if on a smaller scale, at Portsmouth Hrbour on the return journey.
