Tell me about it mate. ****ing dreadful. So bad that i went to join my mates (who told me it would be shyte before the game) back at the pub after about 10 minutes of the first half. That new signing looked so bad, it was actually quite funny and for anyone who stayed till the end, seriously fair play, because i don't know how you can put yourselves through such crap.

By the way, although i despise Cortese, the players were a ****ing disgrace today. In fact, they were so worryingly disinterested that i'd wager that already some are looking to move on in January now that Pards isn't here. Lambert, Fonte, Schniderlin and Harding could well be gone in few months...

Have to reluctantly agree that the display tonight was dreadful and once again - despite supposedly having four of the best defenders in this league, our defence was completely undone by a team with a bit of pace and guile - not once, but three times. Not only that, but despite having the best striker in the league and an ex-Premiership quality striker, plus supposedly the best winger in the division in Puncheon, we lacked any form of decent creative drive into the box. Unless of course it is lumped into Lambert, who looked pretty disinterested for most of the game. It's no surprise Barnard came on like a bull in a china shop - he must be so frustrated at doing so much work and not getting a start ahead of an out of form Lambert.

Final word for Wilkins, who said on Solent that he thought we were the better team in the middle third. B0ll0x were we. If that's the type of game preparation and planning we can expect from him, he might as well hand over the reigns now and fook off as it was a complete disaster. Wilkins and the players can bleat on as much as they like about how Pardews exit did not affect them because they're 'professionals', but I hope Cortese has a really fantastic game plan because to me that team has had the stuffing knocked right out of them and the morale in the dressing room now must be rock f-ing bottom!

Nothing has changed at Saints other than now we've got to sit back and watch this next horror story unfold.

Was he there?

Either way, I've never heard so many despondent chats from supporters that we walked past as we made our way back to the car after the game.

Yes, certainly looked like it to me, in his usual seat. Standing with his hands in his pockets just like he was during the applause for Markus.

Back to post something and not in Pocklington!

It was a lack lustre performance to say the least. Apart from carrying the new boy I thought the whole team was well under par.

Why do we kick everything up high - to Connolly? We seem to be able to pass to Chamberliain on the floor so why not Connolly?

Is it me or were we just not interested?

After all the unrest in the dressing room and Pardew going I thought the team would have come out and given everything because the problem had gone. but I couldn't have been further from the truth.

What was the sending off all about? Barnard seemed to "want it" - he, Dickson and Chamberlain all seemed to up for it.

Easy to blame the events of the last few days - however I feel as though we went two paces forward at Bristol and four paces back tonight!

Who can lift them for Saturday - Wilkins?

They all need a rocket - it's not losing but the manner in which we lost. How many shots on target?

Rickie Lambert - are you interested or just living on last seasons record? Get a grip man you just don't sem interested!

I'm not back from game so apologies for posting here, but I can't see a match reaction thread. I'm not going to slag off Cortese for this result because a) I'm glad we're put of this cup, and b) I think he made the belatedly correct decion, although that asertion only stops being what I think and becomes what i'll judge as ultimately good or bad with the unveiling of the new manager. I will have an initial view on the appointment and if i'm concerned by it I will say and will once again be the target fpr abuse until such time as I become a smart arse when i'm proved right (winky smiley face thing), but I digress - tonights result does not matter one iota and if i was manager (or acting manager or if i was the chief Clot) i'd have a quiet word and get some trusted senior players to throw the game. I'm not saying this is what happened and I cannot be arsed to answer any smart arse comment from a forum teeny boppy who on;y really wants to ridicule this, but i would be neither surprised or disapointed if it had happened. Let's see how we do in the next important league game and if there is a marked improvement we can wonder...

Was a joke all round tonight. Poor chants from the fans, poor team selection and no passion or commitment from the players that took to the field.

To sum up the fans tonight, a chant for Adam Lallana was heard and people behind me were moaning that Wilkins didn't bring him on.

Lots of "hardly ever go" supporters there tonight. Some lads around me couldn't tell the different between Hammond and Schneiderlin.....actually tonight there was no difference.

Something seriously wrong, I have never seen a team lose confidence so quickly. My personal feeling is we will be up for sale by Christmas at the latest.

****ing terrible. ****ing terrible. If our club is sold on again because some egotistical ***t couldn't work with his manager then the skates will be laughing louder than ever. we ain't getting promoted this season and we will be lucky to avoid relegation at this rate. Cortese hasn't got a ****ing clue.

I do worry about some of the fans and their lack of knowledge for the team they supposedly support. It really isn't hard to learn 11 players names and what they looked like, i'm sure if they were at wembley on friday for the England match they would have no problem at all.

Sat in Kingsland by halfway line today and kept thinking that billy sh1te may have found a new victim in me and also felt embarrassed shouting so 2nd half moved back to near our st seats. Should have gone to the pub though :)

to be fair, I have such poor eyesight that I have no idea either. Except for the bloke who is usually in goal - his name escapes me - the rest of them just look like bleary smudges.

Get them lasered. I did and it is a miracle......before that I might as well have watched football with my back to the pitch :-) Best £900 I ever spent.....apart from the trip to Amsterdam of course.

Waste of a journey. Probably the worst defending of any trophy, anywhere in the world, ever.

Charlie Austin is a winkle. He was loving winding us up. I'd point out the pros for Saints but there weren't any. Oh, perhaps Alex O-C looks a good prospect.

Jaidi looks past it. I thought this against Orient too. Do Prado looked awkward on the left - he seems to have pace but is one of those players with a lazy gait. I never understand playing a left footer on the right and a right footer on the left. Harding was poor tonight but he did look more comfortable when Dickson came on. Time for Dickson to fill Lallana's boots, on the left of a 4-5-1 imo.

If the crowd was supplemented by floating supporters who are not familiar with Saints best starting 11, then the announcement that the match day programme could only be viewed on line probably didnt help.

Mr Cortese needs to realise that the average fan does not take his laptop / blackberry to the game.

Bleary Smudges, if I recall correctly, played wing-half for Barnstoneworth United between 1928-31. His burgeoning career was cut short when he was tragically killed by a passing charabanc after he lost control of his clogs on a steep icy hill near Halifax.
