Viking Warrior Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 Im off to a couple of away games. Im thinking of staying over in around Yeovil Anybody recommend a good place to stay . Also where is a decent pub for us away fans to frequent? Who else is planning on going to the game?
Nexstar Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 Ended up as a great day out last season, just hoping it doesn't rain.
Mr saint Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 How easy is it to get from the station (pen mill) to the stadium and back for evening games? What's best - taxi? bus? walk? hitch hike?
Andy_Porter Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 The station is miles away from the stadium, there's no way you could walk it.
SW5 SAINT Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 The station is miles away from the town, however there is a bus to the town centre that meets the train.
The Cat Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 There's a big beer tent in the car park, but last season it was home fans only. The Arrow is the closest pub but was rammed last season. We went to one on the edge of an industrial estate opposite a chippy which was about 15/20 mins walk away but fairly quiet. jawillwill Posted 20 September, 2010 Share Posted 20 September, 2010 The station is miles away from the town, however there is a bus to the town centre that meets the train. But I thought the stadium was nowhere near the town centre either? Looking at some online ground guides it seems the bus doesn't always run for evening games either? lambertsrightleg Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 I'm coming up from Exeter. Getting into Yeovil Junction which is apparently 3 miles or so from the ground so I'm hoping I'll be able to walk that. Not sure which pub to head to yet though. Any decent ones in Yeovil itself? lambertsrightleg Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 ****. Just realised that Yeovil Jct is actually 5 miles from the ground and Pen Mill is only 3 Miles away. Any fans heading back to Yeovil Jct?
Georgie Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 I am going but driving there. I heard there is a car park outside the ground? I'm guessing it takes a long time to get out of there after the game?
Castro 1 Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 I am also driving. Thought I might try and park at The Arrow, as there are also a few shops there but as 'The Cat' said it was rammed last season. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Rory Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 I'd park at the ground if you're on the terrace. There is plenty of space and only a ten minute walk to The Arrow. It only took about five minutes to get out as well.

JRM Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 For those who like doing away games this is a decent website - http://www.footballgroundguide.com/yeovil_town/ I didn't drink near the ground last year, heard the pubs were packed but wouldn't worry about that too much this time as a) we wont have as many fans there and b) being a mid-week game quite a few will go straight to the ground so wont be that busy. I got a lift up to the ground from the pub, the away fans car park was right by the away end, easy to get into.

The Cat Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 Found parking easy last year, we parked on the street quite near the ground. There didn't seem to be any restrictions. Also it's quick to get out as Yeovil is pretty small.

Ian the Red Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 Went last year, great fun. Parked right outside away terracing and takes minutes to get out at the end. have tickets again so will be there for 2nd consecutive away win! The Cat Posted 21 September, 2010 Share Posted 21 September, 2010 how long does it take to drive there from Southampton central. I'm going to have to twist the bosses arm to leave early. We went via a stop off in Bournemouth due to family stuff last year so couldn't tell you. Plus obviously it'll take longer fighting through the rush hour this time. I was gonna leave about 1630 from Hamble. Good thing is there's plenty of cross country routes after you get out of the Southampton area.

markr27 Posted 26 September, 2010 Share Posted 26 September, 2010 I went to the Yeovil Exeter game yesterday, and upon buying our seats we were told that sales for the Saints game 'was slow'. With Yeovil's form taking a nosedive, it may appear to be a much smaller home attendance than last year...
georgeismyname Posted 26 September, 2010 Share Posted 26 September, 2010 Can you buy away end tickets for the Saints match on Tuesday night at the Yeovil ground ? +1. would love to go after the experience of yesterday + to keep to my every away game record haha. however, if you try to buy tickets on our OS, it says its sold out. then again, we SHOULD get an additional 700 if that is the case. surely they'd give us them now? they better bloody do cos i'll be gutted if i cant get a ticket. Apparently the seated tickets are supposed to be for family's only so you can't buy them online (which seems daft to me). Pretty sure they'd still be available to blag a few either over the phone or at the ticket office. But like you say I'd imagine if we have actually sold out we'd get a few extras...? dannysfc Posted 26 September, 2010 Share Posted 26 September, 2010 Me and my Brother are going and we are driving up as well and we are coming up from the Chandlers Ford way sooo will it be quicker to go via the M3 n A34 or to go via Salisbury and then the A303? Also is it likely that we would be able to park in the away car park before the game or should we look for somewhere else? Am looking forward to it as well as it is my first time at Yeovils ground as I have been past Yeovil but not to there ground! Thanks! COYS!!
