Lighthouse Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I've seem to have found myself increasingly wanting the Canaries to go up this season, mainly as I think it shows just what a newly promoted NPC team can achieve in one season. I'd like to think that IF both Saints and Norwich went up this year, it would be a great motivator for what we can achieve next season.
Golden Balls Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 It would be nice to see, I like that Surman is part of it. However, I want it to be us that does the consecutive promotions. It wont be as special if they do it the year before us.

doddisalegend Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 To think they couldn't beat us at three times of asking last season, in fact of the three teams that went up we only lost to leeds once. Not sure how much last years promotion teams strengthened this season but a lot of Norwich's team seem to be the same players from last season which is encouraging IMO. SNSUN Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 My missus is a Norwich fan, so I do follow what they're up to. When I go up to her familys' house, they're Norwich mad, except her uncle, who's a Leeds fan, so I'm relieved to get home to my Saints decorated castle! She'll be at the Walsall game with me, which makes Saints games she's seen this season a total of 4, Norwich games she's made is zero. My mission to convert her is firmly underway. Norwich have strengthened in a couple of key areas,Surman,Ward and Tierney in the main.Very astute business there.

(and before anyone has a go - I am half Welsh) I've always wondered why they don't want to in the Welsh league, pretty much odds on to win the title evey year, CL every year they'd be just like a rubbish copy of the old firm in scotland.......................................... Kingsland Red Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I am. In my youth anyone could win the league, and proper football clubs like us from a provincial cities had a chance. Now those clubs are mostly in the championship ( Nottm Forest, Burnley, Norwich, Ipswich, Leicester, Derby etc)

Kenilworthy Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 Three out of the four relegations in our history - 74, 2005 and 2009 - we have gone down with Norwich. So them not being in the same division as us would ensure safety next season. For similar reasons I was hoping that Orient would go up via the playoffs. Ziggy Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 Well being Welsh and a Cardiff Blues season ticket holder (as well as Saints) I want Cardiff City to go up.
FarehamRed Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I don't mind Norwich, they're harmless enough. But I don't want them to go up. IF Norwich go up and IF saints go up and we finish mid-table, next season, all we'll have on here is "fans" moaning that we didn't "do a Norwich". :-/

alpine_saint Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I'd rather crawl across broken glass with my flies open than support Norwich. Horrible club.
pap Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I'm easy. For me, any of the clubs fighting to get into the EPL have more right to be there than Wigan, who barely knew that balls came in spherical form before the last decade.
Saint Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I am for 2 reasons. 1 - It will give us confidence for consecutive promotions (although it would be ahead of plan, and I wouldn't be devastated if we didn't) 2 - Surman. I'd like to start seeing old teams back in the Prem. ie. QPR, Leeds, Forest. And replacing teams that add nothing ie. Wigan, Stoke, Wolves, Blackpool (who are having a laugh in the prem)

At the end of the day the teams that are in the PL are there on merit no matter how wrong that seems......
Jimmy_D Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I don't want them to go up, but that's just because it miiiight give us an outside chance of re-signing Surman. (Not likely I know, but still...)

(Not likely I know, but still...) Would have thought it would be the other way around. Norwich go up, sign a few decent players and Drew finds himself out the team. We get him on loan in January. Unlikely, but more likely.
Minsk Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 I've always quite liked Norwich, and also don't think a WELSH team should be playing in any English league - let alone the EPL! So yes, I am cheering on the Canaries. Also, I want it for Drew and don't want Cardiff to go up after the Bellendamy incident.
saintsforlife7 Posted 26 April, 2011 Share Posted 26 April, 2011 As I've just mentioned on the teams that hate us thread, according to some random Narwich fan on Twitter, the whole of Norwich hates us because we sang "that's why your nationwide" in the FA Cup in 2003, for this reaosn alone, I don't want them up, plus I think Holt is an utter kno0b. dronskisaint Posted 27 April, 2011 Share Posted 27 April, 2011 I want them to stay down because it's the closest ground for me I want them to stay down because we beat them a lot I want them to go up because I think Drew Surman's a good guy/player who would rather have stayed with us but 'took one for the team' 2-1 then...stay down Canaries. Also half my staff are supporters and they'll be gloating...make that 3-1!

Doubt it. That's a fairly routine chant at cup ties in the same vein as "PL, you're having a laugh" against Blackpool. Unless all Norwich fans are Ian Holloway I doubt they even remember that.
