sambosa75 Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 Is it me or does AOC being on the bench today smack of giving the lad an opportunity to say goodbye to the fans? Isnt he supposed to be injured? Looks to me as if Adkins will let him come on for the last couple of minutes to say his farewells. What does everyone else think?
Dr Who? Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 I heard that he was fit, but do find it stange why he would play today? Perhaps he really wants to play?
sambosa75 Posted 7 May, 2011 Author Share Posted 7 May, 2011 Remember Theo and Bale's last games for us. It was made pretty obvious they were saying farewell on both occasions. I hope I'm wrong. I think we are moving in the right direction and think he should give it another season at Championship level rather than jump feet first in to the reserves of a Premier League side. deadpanmatt Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 If he wasn't on the bench you'd be saying "I heard he is fit, but he's not on the bench. Probably up in London negotiating a deal." He might leave, but then again he might not.

up and away Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 Please PLEASE dont sell him! He's our future....sick of seeing our players performing for other teams! I don't believe we do intend to sell Oxo and this is Adkins way of getting him to feel part of the team. But I don't believe we can stop him from leaving if an offer meets up with the conditions in his contract. Oxo has 2 years left on his contract and it will do him no harm to play in the Championship. It just comes down to whether any club is prepared to pay full whack, so there is still a fair chance he may stay.
Huffton Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 THeres no way they would have risked him being on the pitch for that long if they were selling him
sambosa75 Posted 7 May, 2011 Author Share Posted 7 May, 2011 Yeah I think I've been proved wrong now. Just got the impression the lad was injured and had been put on the bench to make a 5 minute farewell appearance towards the end. Given the fact he got a decent amount of game time, played reasonably well and got on the score sheet in the process suggests he actually was fit. I hope he stays. If only for one more season, see if we can do a Norwich or sneak a play-off place and then take it from there.

Cestrian Saint Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 I'm sure that he and the people around him will look at Theo's departure and realise that it's not always best to go at the first opportunity. Theo knows he should've stayed at Saints for at least one more season. AOC will learn from that and do the right thing.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 His mum on solent said he would be playing for saints next season This. But she did say "IF the conditions were right". What I've heard is that a agreement with Arsenal has already been made. I just hope it includes a loan back to us for the whole season, it would make perfect sense for both parties. With promotion to the Championship it certainly helps our cause in that respect.

sussexsaint Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 The thing is we know we are in a position to pay good money now, unlike past seasons when Lowe would state we couldn't compete wage wise. stcappy Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 Saw him outside at the end. He was a bit reluctant to discuss his future but eventually said he hoped to still be here next season. Not totally convincing in his denial was the view but he is still young, and can't be easy for him. On the plus side, when asked how long until we are back in the premier league, cortese responded in 12 months time! Let's hope he has the resource to make that a possibility!!! St_Tel49 Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 His mum on solent said he would be playing for saints next season I don't think that she actually came out and said that but it was the strong implication of what she said. With respect stcappy his reluctance has probably got more to do with being aware of how anything he says could be reported and distorted. I suspect that players have had training on handling questions from the media and people they do not know (and even ones they do know if some indiscreet comments made a while ago by a so-called acquaintance were anything to go by). Lighthouse Posted 7 May, 2011 Share Posted 7 May, 2011 What I've heard is that a agreement with Arsenal has already been made. Don't take this personally, but we're in for a very tedious summer of posts like this. The reason I don't believe you is because Cortese has got things running tighter than a ducks arse. Most of the transfers surrounding the club come completely out of the blue and whenever someone says "I've been reliably informed" it's usually the least reliable information ever. Let's just hope we dont have a new thread every time a rumour surfaces about a player in some Sh*tty tabloid. Most of it is just a rehash of stuff printed in the local paper last week, which was in turn probably taken from the HCDAJFU thread on here and agents trying to big their players up.
