It's going to be great next season when we're playing them. Because when they are chanting it, everybody will think that it is us chanting.

Do you know something about next season's cup draws that the rest of us don't? ;)

How long have you lot been watching football? Versions of OWTSGMI have been sung by most clubs for decades, normally with the team colours instead of 'saints' as in, 'when the reds go ....' etc.

Spurs fans have sung their version since the 60's or 70's to my certain knowledge. I'm old enough to remember it.

Hardly any football songs stay unique to one club. In fact Leeds' "Marching on together" and Norwich's "On the ball city" are the only ones that come to mind that actually have football-related words. More recently there's Stoke's Delilah, but even their own fans don't know why they sing that!

Trying to make our song theirs...................pathetic, get your own song!

They have been singing that song for over fifty years I remember hearing it when they were in Europe in the 1960s.

They usually sing it really well

Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself, I meant the season after.

Jeff Le Taxi: Like the 'Pay Up Pompey' thing!
Exactly. That was totally cringeworthy and helped to perpetuate the myth in the media about what great fans they are, when most of that noise was produced by us.

Pretty sure it was to do with some Stoke fan singing it at karaoke at an away game or something. Probably completely wrong.

Bristol Rovers - Goodnight Irene is pretty unique, I'm not sure where that comes from.

There are at least 3 versions around on the internet 'explaining' why Stoke fans sing Delilah. It's very effective, whatever the reason.

Apparently it was an away game at Derby County. There was a group of Stokies in a pub near the stadium being a bit raucous so the old bill came in to tell them to shut up. A defiant Stoke fan started singing Delilah (the rude version) in defiance.... it carried over to the terrace for the game and the rest is history.

That's the story my Stoke supporting mate claims.

There's also that stupid song that Jimmy Hill wrote for Coventry in the 60s which was like the Eton Boating Song.

Sing up Sky Blues...

...When we sing together, we will never lose.

Tottenham or Chelsea, United or Anyone... ANYONE

They shant defeat us... we'll fight 'till the game is won.

It works very well in a full house. Therefore it's lost it's impact ever since they moved from Highfield Road to the Ricoh. ;)

It could be worse, we could have either of these songs to enjoy. The Hull thing is probably the gayist thing i've ever seen inside a football stadium,

Wait until you go to Palace away and see their "ultras" thats the gayest thing youll ever see short of walking into the toilets and seeing 2 men having sex.

Oh when the Rs... sung at Loftus Road too but only once a game.

Cant beat the fake hoops singing "come on you Rs" nicked from QPR and they arent even called the Rs, work that one out.

The atmosphere at Selhurst has improved tenfold since the formation of the Holmesdale Fanatics. At least they do it properly unlike some other clubs.

about 50-100 people jumping up and down thinking theyre Italian, theyre all about 14 too.

It might look ok if the whole end was like that but its not.

Its embarrassing. Youll see when if you go to Selhurst this season. When was the last time you saw them at Selhurst then?

I bet those Villa fans organised that on a Forum. If only we could do the same.

As for Palace, I was at Selhurst this season (day of the called off Rochdale fixture) and I thought their Ultras were good. I couldn't really see them as I was in the top tier of the Holmesdale End but they were loud and kept singing for pretty much the whole 90 minutes which is more than can be said for our fans.

I live in Croydon, and know a few of the older lads in the HF. I went to Pompey at home this season for obvious reasons. The atmosphere from right in the middle of it wasn't bad at all.
