iansouthstander Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Just been down to renew my season ticket and get clobbered for parking . 100%Red&White Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Well, tbf, he wasn't exactly asking for free parking just when it changed from 30 to 15 minutes. It's always been free until recently and maybe if your buying one of their products for around £500 maybe a free car park pass whilst doing so wouldn't be too much to ask. You get 30 minutes free in West Quay btw.

The9 Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Which car park ? Northam or Chapel ? I've been in the Northam buying tickets for longer than 15 minutes before and still got out for nowt... Also when I went down to see the FA Cup (Chapel Car Park for the Megastore) I was there for nearly an hour and got away for free but my mate who had arrived 5 minutes earlier than me had to pay. Seemed a little harsh.

Hedgehog Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 The thing is, if the club are making people go to the ticket office to get their tickets, and not offer the chance on line to have them sent (although you could email ticket office to get them to do so) then no way should you be charged to park there!! You are not buying goods, but giving the club money in good faith, that the club will give you the goods by results on the pitch. hasper57saint Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 Mrs.H was in Hospital for 12 days recently and irrespective of the time actually 'parked' the charge was £2. Thankfully the charge lasts for 24 hours and you can go in and out as many times as you wish for the £2. Having to pay for parking these days is the norm.Now... when I was a nipper look, we couldn't afford a car see, so we walked to the Ferry and then to the Dell. How times change eh? So how much are you willing to pay for the privilege of collecting something you've purchased for £515 online. Perhaps an additional 10% as a tip, after all it's going to club. I buy stuff on the internet for collect in store at places such as PC World and Argos and they don't rip me off with parking charges on top. Turkish Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 If you are playing for your season ticket using the installment plan do you get to spread the payments monthly? On another note, has anyone noticed the little message the barrier gives you when you leave the car park? AS you put your ticket it in and the barrier raises it wishes you to "have a nice day" What a wonderful gesture from Super Nicky, he truely cares about each and everyone of us, we never had that sort of thing under Lowe and i cant think of any other car park which sends you a personal message on your way out. Very much. Over the course of a year it only needs 2m people to use the stadium car park, which is nothing for a club of our size and we have got a reasonable central defender or midfielder paid for. I applaud Cortese for his forward thinking a vision. £1 is nothing to most of us but looking at the bigger picture is could be the difference between the riches of the premier league and play off disapointment. Junction 9 Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 I can't believe some people use the "It goes to the club" excuse. Next time you get to the end of the month and you haven't spent all your wages, why not send the club a cheque? After all any money that "goes to the cub" must be a good thing. There is no way supporters should be charged for the privellege of actually turniing up to give te club their business, they have removed the ability to use the instalment plan online or by phone, so those that want to ue it have no choice but to go there. The bigger the queue the more you'll pay for parking. I don't care if it's 10p they're asking for, it's the principle. Thanks again for your ever worsening customer service SFC. There are roads around the stadium where you can park for free if you are that tight you begrudge giving this fantastic football club a few extra pounds here and there. Would you pay to park in Sainsburys or Tesco every time you did your food shop? These are "customers" spending around £500 with the club and in a carpark which has plenty of spaces in the close season or midweek. Would it be too much for the club to give you a ticket for the machine if it was clear you had used the ticket office or the store? NO it would not. As I said before, it shows how important it is to generate as much income as possible. Yes it is. There are two excellent business reasons for the increased car parking charges. It's getting us fans used to paying for parking so it's not a shock in the future when the car park is full everyday when we are in the champions league. When we have thousands of tourists invading the stadium daily having their pictures taken, stadium tours, visiting the museum etc. We cant blame all our newly found over seas fans for the charges and show them bitterness and resentment, they have always been there so we will welcome them to the SFC family. It's also about perception. We have a premium product and as such must pay for it. Do you think Armani, Gucci etc would be as loved round the world by the style concious if they were priced at the same level as Next or even Primark? By charging for parking Cortese is setting us a class above all these run of the mill championsip clubs and letting us know we have a great product, something lesser clubs fans can only dream of. I say embrace the parking charges, applaud them. It's setting us apart from the majority and run of the mill.

dune Posted 6 July, 2011 Share Posted 6 July, 2011 I moaned for a good 12 months after Lowe charged £1 to park for the Portsmouth away game. It's a disgrace how you're charged to park when visiting the club on a non matchday. Fair enough impose a time limit of 30 mins to 1 hour if some people are taking advantage, but to make it 15 minutes is a p/ss take. Hardly surprising though from Mr ticket tax. However, it has stopped me using the travel club coach as it would cost an additional 10 pound to park their as well as pay for the coach. Im not moaning, il get alternative travel. Thats sfc choice to charge an on this occasion loose my revenue. COYR
