trousers Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Nathan Dyer Nathan is expected to report back for training in the New Year and has made seven appearances for Sheffield United, including three starts. He scored in the Blades recent 2-2 home draw against Crystal Palace, and was joined on the score-sheet by ex-Saints striker James Beattie, but the Eagles earned a point with a last minute equaliser. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/?page_id=11153 Any idea why Dyer's effectively taking a week off at such a crucial stage of the season? His loan deal ended at the weekend....

CabbageFace Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Oooch!! bit harsh Well some people do concern me on here, they are really bothered about a player who is so poor its unbelievable. Our next leaugue game is the 10th of jan, i doubt Nathan Dyer will play against Utd as he is rubbish, so panic over.
Legod Third Coming Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Do people realise the new year is on thursday? Or are you all spastics? I know that word has falled into disrepute and is no longer (if it ever were) politically correct - but sometimes it is the only word to describe someone. Well done. Andy_Porter Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I think he's a better option on the right than Lallana. Not my favourite player but will give us some balance at least and a bit of pace in behind the defence.
a1ex2001 Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 yet it tells us nothing about Cork... Because there is nothing to tell? Jan obviously wants to keep him and it looks like he wants to stay so they are probably waiting on Chelsea to make up there minds. To me Corks situation deppends on wether or not Chelsea think he will make the grade if they do then he will probably stay with us to the end of the season for experience if they don't then they will probably sell him off to Bolton or Pompey etc. Back on topic I'm glad to see Dyer back were are desperatley short of a right winger and when he's on his game he is an outstanding player at this level let's just hop a few months up north has sorted his attitude a little and got his focus back. Chez Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 perhaps McClaggan can fill that right wing position. I wonder i Dyer will work to regain his place or moan at losing it?
paulwantsapint Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Dyer is Lowe's way of letting JP have a new signing Lets hope that after living up north he can appreciate the good life of being back down south If he can be bothered to play he could be great if he cant be bothered send him on loan to non league club
derry Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 (edited) I think he's a better option on the right than Lallana. Not my favourite player but will give us some balance at least and a bit of pace in behind the defence. Kayne McLaggon's break was phenomenal on Sunday. He was on our 18yd penalty area line. I've just watched the replay, he accelerated through the Reading players and then threaded a perfect ball through three Reading defenders. He could be the answer. Dyer needs to knuckle down, he looked up for it at Sheffield and started the last two matches. If he is good enough for a top six team he sure as hell is good enough for us. diggers Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I was at the Sheffield Utd Charlton game and Dyer was one of the best players on the pitch. Speaking to a couple of the Utd. players, they say he was also on fire for them against Wolves.
SaintRobbie Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 I actually like Dyer. He has so much potential if he could be managed correctly. Unlike 75% of our squad who are League 2 or 1 standard, he is CCC standard with Premiership potential. But he's not a striker.
trousers Posted 30 December, 2008 Author Share Posted 30 December, 2008 Do people realise the new year is on thursday? Or are you all spastics? Yes, I am. Happy to clarify. Thanks also for clearing up when New Year is. Is it 1st Jan every year? You learn something new every day on here. Ok, so Dyer is only on a 3 day break between games. So that's OK then.... No. Even if he does, he will be ok for it. Our next game is the 10th? if im not mistaken, which leaves Nathan Bandit Dyer a whole 11 days to get back into robbing and being a midget with his best mate Brapley (Ian)Wright-(kevin)Phillips. Not rocket science is it.
Scummer Posted 30 December, 2008 Share Posted 30 December, 2008 do you really think after being away that he would be in contention for the man U game...? no chance.. so..does it matter if he has a couple of days off..? Think of it the other way round. If we brought a player in on loan, we'd expect him to be here the next day and to be in contention for the next match. It shouldn't really be any different for Dyer, except I think that Saints don't really want him around so aren't rushing him to come back.

I pondered the question on a matter of principle...rather than how good or desirable the player is.... I simply don't understand why a player wouldn't go straight back into training from day-1. People ask: "Why? What difference does it make?" I ask: "Why not? What difference does it make?" Perhaps I should give NASA a bell....
