washsaint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 My god, just when you think this forum can't get any worse we have the schoolchildren arguing over JR and a fatal car crash. You couldn't make it up and to say it is in poor taste would be an understatement. Anything to have a pop at the current regime (players, management & board) seems fair game on here with the petty spitefulness and bitterness. And driving away sensible posters in their droves. Seems like quite a few on here live very, very sad existences and will pick over every single sentence uttered on the OS or anywhere else and look for a word or sentiment at which to start the petty, bitter tirades. Sure our club is really struggling, sure we have old board/new board not covering themselves in glory with their constant one-upmanship, yes the young team is struggling (but not all the time) and yes times are not great. But some need reminding this is only a football GAME not real life. There are far worse things happening in the world with people being hit by real tragedies - time to get a perspective methinks. How players not playing/out on loan suddenly achieve hero worship is mind boggling. Saganowski has failed at Aalborg (or they would want to keep him), Rasiak struggles to get a game at a very poor Watford side, John has 2 goals in 12 games for Bristol and Euell was eulogised by many on here when JP did not play him yet showed exactly why he was not played when he started. Whatever happens, the club will still be here - no matter what division we are in. And you know what......I have preferred the games where there have been smaller crowds this season because the support has been absolutely superb. cambsaint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Some may think (justifiably or not?) that the actions of certain individuals in wrecking a once great club, may evince strong emotions among supporters such as blind hatred! The only thing that surprises me is that I haven't completely lost interest and still care enough to follow my club.
Bourne Valley Saint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Some on here have to justify their existence with an opinion on everything and like nothing more than seeing their own words in print. The more opinionated they are the more posts they submit - mostly besmirching the people running the club. They end up hijacking nearly every thread because they are unable to find anything positive to say, so they have to have a go at the chairman, or the board, the management, players, ex players, etc. Sometimes posting in excess of 30 comments a day, these people are driving many supporters away from this forum and because many have departed, fed up with their ranting, squabbling, nit-picking, point scoring, etc., they claim they speak for the majority. The majority of what? The majority of the hyper-critical posters left on here - that's what! If only half of them actually bothered to get off their ar5es and watch a match, then at least some of their opinions would be subjective, not hearsay. They deride the club whilst putting sweet fa themselves into it. Just by turning up for a match we, the loyal fans, are accused of being Lowe luvvies, punchdrunk, blinkered, defeatist or not having anything better to do on a Saturday afternoon. The club are in the ****e big time but it happens. It's happened to bigger and better clubs than us and there will be plenty more going through what we are currently going through in the next 12 months. Get over it and start supporting the club when they need it most instead of coming on this board criticising every aspect of it.

buctootim Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Agree with most of that. Some fan's antipathy to Lowe seems to have spilled over into feeling its fair game to have a pop at anything to do with the club - the smoking at games and the Robertson car crash report on the OS being just two recently. Enforcing the law and unintentional errors on the OS will always happen, regardless of whether Lowe, Ted Bates or the Archbishop of Canterbury was Chairman. Some posters need to get more perpective, or find some other pursuit that doesnt induce so much bile.

Because thats all it is a wish list, if there was someone genuinely interested in SFC and banging on the door of SMS to take over do you honestly think RL would stand in there way? Was Cantona or Beckham bigger than United, was Henry or Vierra bigger than Arsenal NO!! so why is the duck shooter from Withshire bigger than our beloved Saints and those who make RL the excuse for non attendance look again, tell us the footballs shxxe, tell us its too expensive to attend, or tell us the queue for pies are to long but please do not make RL out to be bigger than our football club. I've said it before, but I believe there is not much more than a couple of thousand, tops, who are not coming directly because of Lowe. But it's his policies that have meant we're all watching a reserve team at best and are second from bottom, so the other missing 10 thousand odd are not coming because they don't want to pay £24 to watch reserves team football, and that is because of Lowe. Which ever way you look at it Lowe is to blame. Now we can all hide our heads in the sand and say stuff like, 'it's only a game', or we can try and do something about it. Remember, before Lowe thought it best to come back, we had a manager everyone was united behind and we were all positive about the coming season. But we couldn't afford Nigels wages????? Please. We can afford to pay a chairmen now which we didn't under Crouch.

You may be correct in as much as there is a lot of hysteria going on as to what fans will and will not do as a protest, but believe me, it will be shown by declining gates if things do not improve, as is already happening. Get the Man U mauling out the way and then smell the roses. As for looking for scapegoats, erm, should not the board perhaps set a better example than they have. If the board behave like fecking idiots with all their in fighting and power struggles, how can you expect the fans to behave any different. This club is in total disharmony from the board down to the fans, many fans maybe bed wetters as you call it, but this is only born through a feeling of pure frustration. But leave the situation as it is, unchecked and unrepaired, then I believe fans will really start to let their frustations out on the club. It has not happened yet, but it will happen. um pahars Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 The OP might have gotten more respect from me had he not been one of the most vociferous and loudest moaners over the last couple of seasons! Maybe he should have made such a post a couple of years ago as opposed to moaning back then (then again I always find a post moaning about the moaners rather ironic). As for mentioning the support of the team, then maybe the OP would have been better turning up to games in recent seasons as opposed to staying away because there was "zero entertainment". What are you talking about? They are not "noble" reasons, where did I ever say that. They are pragmatic reasons which everyone who decides not to go regularly (apart from teh Lowe boycotters) use. They involve things like children, expense, working, living a long way away and getting out of the habit of going to live football regularly on Saturdays when I started playing football myself when I was 17. Pretty boring stuff really wouldn't you agree? And the reason I did not mention it earlier. And guess what, I have never ever NOT gone to a match because I did not like, the Chairman/Manager/Groundsman/Tea Lady. I went to the 1976 Cup Final but did not go to the last one. Why? Because as I no longer go to many matches I felt it unfair to take a ticket from someone who did. Now that is "noble".

saintwarwick Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Rupert`s PR team are on again!! So someone offers a different opinion to you they are classed as Lowe's PR team, priceless.
eurosaint Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Talk about blind hatred and pettiness. You really are a joke! I suspect that he was a bit 'tongue in cheek' on this one so please try and calm down, old chap !
SaintRobbie Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Wake up and smell the coffee!! anything else you would like to add to your wish list? Because thats all it is a wish list, if there was someone genuinely interested in SFC and banging on the door of SMS to take over do you honestly think RL would stand in there way? Was Cantona or Beckham bigger than United, was Henry or Vierra bigger than Arsenal NO!! so why is the duck shooter from Withshire bigger than our beloved Saints and those who make RL the excuse for non attendance look again, tell us the footballs shxxe, tell us its too expensive to attend, or tell us the queue for pies are to long but please do not make RL out to be bigger than our football club. Lowe is only the start point for badly needed change. The real probalem lies with shareholders and the organisational system running (killing) the club, the one Lowe chairs. I have never heard Lowe say he wouldnt stand in the way of a takeover (thats what is more worrying) and as Steve Grant commented a while ago... we still have not heard the reasons why the SISU deal was rejected by the senior shareholders... the one that gave Coventry hope and arguably the best manager available at that moment. eelpie Posted 31 December, 2008 Share Posted 31 December, 2008 Some on here have to justify their existence with an opinion on everything and like nothing more than seeing their own words in print. Well said. Best post of 2008. (That's a bit sad isn't it?) alpine_saint Posted 1 January, 2009 Share Posted 1 January, 2009 Washsaint, you are a star! At last someone is prepared to post something positive amongst all the negative rubbish which appears here day after day. If only there were a few more like you but most sensible posters have been driven away from this forum by the whingers. Yes the club is in dire straits but negativity on this forum only breeds negativity on the pitch. For God's sake get behind the team everyone. Oh, do get a f**king life....
