St Marco Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Next 3 games are massive for us. Barnsley away followed by Doncaster at home. Then Norwich away. What do you think we need to get at minimum? Personally i think we need at minimum 7 points. If we lose or draw against Barnsley we could lose ground over Charlton due to them being at home vs Forest or Forest win and get further away from us meaning we could be needing 5 points to get out of the relegation zone after saturday. A win will mean we could climb out if Charlton win against Forest. Then obviously we have to win against Doncaster and Norwich or were be further adrift in the relegation zone. um pahars Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I can see us getting 4 points (1 at Barnsley & 3 v Donny). Charlton and Donny have a fairly tough few games, whereas Forest have a relatively easy run. I fear Forest could pull away, so we need someone to fall back into the pack. Problem is we have Norwich away, so they can pull away, so we may be looking elsewhere. This month could see us cemented at the bottom with Charlton and Donny, so therefore we probably have to be getting more than my 4 points to stay in there. Charlton Forest (h) Sheff Wed (a) Palace (h) Possible 2 - 4 points Doncaster Bristol City (h) Saints (a) Sheff Utd (a) I can see 1 to 3 points Forest Charlton (a) Plymouth (h) Sheff Weds (h) Potential of 4 - 7 points
Stax Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I think we will lose 2 nil to Barnsley as plymouth did, a 1-1 draw home to donny as we cant win at home and a 2-0 loss to norwich, i still cant believe are last win was against Reading back in in November! Arizona Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 5 would realistically be a good haul. I think we'll get 1, but I don't know where.
Whitey Grandad Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 To have any chance of staying up we have to certainly beat Doncaster and either of the other two, preferably Norwich. I can't see that happening and soon we shall be running out of games.
kelkel31 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 anything less than 7, puts us in a really bad place(because of the teams we play), thats not an expectation by any means, but for the sake of position and morale anything less would make this season critical! krissyboy31 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Any less than 7 (probably 9 in reality) and we are b*ggered. I can't see us getting more than 5 TBH.
obelisk Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 We shouldn't be looking for anything other than 3 wins from these games but I suspect Jan's plan will be to not lose by too many in each case and maybe, with a bit of luck, scrape a victory somewhere. Trouble is we're not scoring enough so the prospect of getting 3 points in any of these important games is remote. Maybe if I put my optimistic hat on I can see a result at Barnsley and consequent renewed hope of turning the corner from the Lowe brigade before yet another home defeat and an away embarrassment bring back the dawning reality of being marooned at the bottom. I fear for the souls of our youngsters this season. They'll need long term counselling if they're not to be badly broken as things go from bad to worse. Whitey Grandad Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 The Norwich game is the evening of the 27th so if we are going to give him 3 games to turn things around the earliest that Poortvliet could be dumped is the 28th. That would only give his replacement a couple of days to get in any new faces so I'm afraid that we are what is technically known as buggered. ExSt Peter Saint Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 We need at least 7, but won't get them unless something dramatic changes. Saga could get us some goals, but he'll need better service than has been the case recently. If we play pretty football in our own half and then don't get in behind them, we can't score. We haven't got any money to bring players in, so it doesn't really matter to be honest. If we get anyone they'll most likely be loans, and I'm pretty sure there's a loan system after the transfer window closes.
SFC Forever Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 I believe that defeat at home to Donny will bring home to the Lowe brigade the position we are in. The rest of us already seem to have worked it out. It aint bloody difficult for Pete's sake. I believe we could well be bottom after the next three games if not sooner. Charlton only need to beat Forest and we will lose at Barnsley. Perhaps a miracle could happen but I can't see it. 0-1 pt is the best that I can see. God please let me be wrong. West End Saint Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 I am by no means a gloom and doom munger at the star of the season I was worried our total football with kids wouldnt cut it in this league at 1st I thought I may be wrong fantastic performances at Derby and against Brum in the cup and i have been tooing and throwing ever since. I am now convinced that my 1st gut feeling was right this is not working the lads have had the confidence kicked out of them such a shame cause some of them might make decent players we have no MEN LEADERS FIGHTERS and we go out expecting to get beat if we are bottom 3 at the end of this month we are going down we need 7 to 9 points out of the next 3 games but I cannot see it happening. PLEASE PLEASE prove me wrong COYR
ottery st mary Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 6 points needed, if lucky we might get 3 or 2 on two draws. None of this is good enough and will not be enhanced thereafter because we will then subsequently lose more and stay in bottom 3, not many more chances now. A lot will depend who the new Manager and Chairman will be on Friday...or Monday.

ottery st mary Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 Minimum points, knowing our luck we might even get points deducted for unregistered player. Let alone the false story about Saga and the missing time and some poor incompetent young admin person at Fifa failing to sign off the International papers etc...I now hear that Corkey wanted to stay and prior to the final details being sorted for year long/extended loan or whatever we at Saints actually f..ked up and nothing to do with Brendan Rogers and money....We messrd up some paperwork/opputunity.....Watford have hot less money than us....Maybe Elton John on his way back there. Anyway more to come on Corkey at a later date. Yes I have taken a bit of stick for calling my mates Lowey and Wildey but I do not do it anymore...as I received some threats that certain posters would call me names. Wottey, Portey, Lowey, Wildey, Askey, Cowey and Jonesey....(Not Jonah their/our Financial spokesman ) all out. I agree no nicknames allowed very petty of me. Bring back Portsmuff and some points please Saints. All in my own little opinion of courskey.
