I see the price of gold is sky rocketing. Hugely fortunate if you're billionaire with a house made of gold.

Our Krugerrands are doing very nicely.

He's 100% right about Chagos but completely wrong and frankly nuts about Greenland. I'm hoping it's part of some negotiation and some of the European nations can convince him that they have enough to defend the island without him invading.

He will need to invade because he won’t get 2/3 of the Senate to spend on such a huge asking price, especially when his tariffs have already fucked their economy rotten.

We aren't irrelevant we just think we have more influence and importance than we have in reality. If Trump wants to go over our heads, collude with Putin and xi and start some sort of new world order then it's going to be difficult to stop that. Trump could easily ignore anything Britain ever does if he really wanted to. Hopefully it doesn't happen.

True since Suez and 1956 really.

He will lose much more than he gains if he does invade.

And if he attacks the EU in trade, although it will damage the EU as well and we will get a sniffle from it. Their retail, gas and other prices are already causing a lot of domestic consternation and they brought it in themselves with the attacks on Canada.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Supreme Court rules that tariffs are illegal. They are due to publish their findings very shortly.

They won't.

Regardless, Trump calling them tariffs is inaccurate. Tariffs are targeted against specific items for a specific trade purpose. These are more akin to economic sanctions, at best.

Biggest winners are Russia, and especially China. This is setting them up nicely for their long-term aim of all of those lovely microchips in Taiwan. They probably can’t believe their luck.

Agent Trump is delivering as instructed.

Absolutely. In any sane world no one would put up with this. He would be taken away for help and we would carry on with his deputy (not that Vance is a huge improvement, but at least he hasn’t lost his marbles). This pussyfooting around the issue helps no one.

At what point will the American’s realise that only one person has Trump Derangement Symptoms and that is Donald Trump himself.

The bizarre thing is not Trump’s behaviour, it is that he has lost the plot but is still the President.

Donnie has just turned up at the White House press conference with his Record of Achievement. ( Remember them ? )

I remember having a Year 11 tutor group and trying to get them to do them was a pain in the arse.

Some people saying that attacking Greenland would be an impeachable offence, which is interesting.

Without Congressional support, which he wont get, it would be. But the Republicans would block the impeachment process, despite mostly opposing Trump's actions.

He might be an unhinged lunatic, but he is their unhinged lunatic, and MAGAstan still has power over them.

During this year anyway, but the mid-terms are looking very likely to change that (and despite fears they won’t go ahead).

He will have to do it by force as plenty of GOP Senators saying they won’t support a purchase and he needs two-thirds. It’ll probably all change around at the WEF and again by the weekend. He’s like a gate in 100mph winds.

Whatever people think of Macron, Starmer etc, imagine having to deal with this. Nixon used to have moments where he’d use a ‘Mad Man’ strategy deliberately in pre-negotiations but Trump is just fully demented and a psychiatrist’s nightmare. A 7 year old on a E-numbers rush.

77m people voted for that - the state of the human race. Not as if January 2021 wasn’t an enormous clue or anything about chaotic it would be. But stupid does as stupid says. If just impacted Americans, fair enough and their problem. But unlike last time it’s impacted everyone globally and Americans won’t be forgiven in my lifetime.

Unlikely though. I'm pretty sure peaches don't grow in Greenland.

That's my indepth political analysis done for the day.

Because the French have snubbed his Board of Peace for Gaza, Trump has threatened to impose 200% tariffs on imports of French wine and champagne.
