In seriousness it would be nice if a striker steps up and shows some promise to supplement Larin / Mabuma.

Probably, in that he will need to drop down the leagues to play mens football and find his level. 

In truth, we haven't produced a centre forward good enough to improve us, or even give proper competition, since Shearer. 

Of those who've moved on, and improved and learned their trade in lower leagues, I can't think of many in recent times other than Morgan and Ballard. Despite the clamours for Ballard, he's the poor relation of those 2.

Saints u21s v Juventus u21s, Tuesday 20th October 7pm at St Mary's 

Good chance to see the u21s at St Mary's against top quality opposition, I went last year when we played Real Madrid, was an excellent game with 10k crowd , a young Tonda Ekhert was coaching them at the time. 

Unfortunately doesn't quite coordinate with half term this year but still taking the kids , worth giving it a look

Shearer was a freak though, few can score a hatrick at 17 against Arsenal. Great game that, he scored his first right in front of me.

Normally young players need time to develop. I remember seeing Ronaldo for Utd when he was very young, lots of tricks but a long way from the player he became. 

It needs a manager to believe in a player, and for the fans to see past the odd, inevitable weak performance, and to focus on the potential.

Princewill and Sesay must start knocking on the door soon. It would be great to see them turn out for Saints.

Shearer was, but it's easy to forget he got lucky that day. O'Leary and Adams couldn't play, so he was up against Gus Caesar and out of position Michael Thomas. 

I've never seen Princewill and Sesay play, but hopefully they carve out a good career.
