Ended 0-0. From the 30 seconds I watched to see if there were any goals, I heard the “‘ammers, mate, geezer” second commentator, who was that “true legend” (leg-end)? He was a proper cockney geez mate innit

Any decent players that stand out?

Ehibhatiomhan scored another 2, but as we know, that doesn't suggest he can make the step up.

Is he the next Ballard?!

In seriousness it would be nice if a striker steps up and shows some promise to supplement Larin / Mabuma.

Probably, in that he will need to drop down the leagues to play mens football and find his level.

In truth, we haven't produced a centre forward good enough to improve us, or even give proper competition, since Shearer.

Of those who've moved on, and improved and learned their trade in lower leagues, I can't think of many in recent times other than Morgan and Ballard. Despite the clamours for Ballard, he's the poor relation of those 2.

Saints u21s v Juventus u21s, Tuesday 20th October 7pm at St Mary's

Good chance to see the u21s at St Mary's against top quality opposition, I went last year when we played Real Madrid, was an excellent game with 10k crowd , a young Tonda Ekhert was coaching them at the time.

Unfortunately doesn't quite coordinate with half term this year but still taking the kids , worth giving it a look

Shearer was a freak though, few can score a hatrick at 17 against Arsenal. Great game that, he scored his first right in front of me.

Normally young players need time to develop. I remember seeing Ronaldo for Utd when he was very young, lots of tricks but a long way from the player he became.

It needs a manager to believe in a player, and for the fans to see past the odd, inevitable weak performance, and to focus on the potential.

Princewill and Sesay must start knocking on the door soon. It would be great to see them turn out for Saints.

Shearer was, but it's easy to forget he got lucky that day. O'Leary and Adams couldn't play, so he was up against Gus Caesar and out of position Michael Thomas.

I've never seen Princewill and Sesay play, but hopefully they carve out a good career.

I think Sesay is starting to show his potential , probably a backup for Azaz.

Princewill is a big old unit, certainly will occupy defenders.

If Tonda remains with us I can see him trying him out. Sadly I think we'll have someone more functional, and risk averse.

Great result for the U21's after their 6-5 National Cup win at Boston.

Every time they play against " adult opponents" it should be remembered that there is a big

difference between the style of play and the physicality of games against " men's teams".

Every National League club has a range of experienced professionals, many of whom have

considerable League experience behind them, so in that respect the result was real success

for Adam Lallana's lads.

After an uneven start to the season the U21's have found good form in the last month since

the 3-1 win over Bournemouth. A 2-0 win at Wolverhampton and 5 goals v. QPR shows that the

strikers (Ehibhatomhan and Dibaga in particular) have really found goal-scoring form.

The real question is ...will any of these youngsters get the chance of a bench place with the

first team and possibly some minutes in Championship games.?

An encouraging situation which will be interesting - if the opportunity arises.

Pretty sure Mubama will be needed to start a game or two soon and if Larin is ever out that Princewill is going to be on the bench. Dibaga looked raw but promising, but with the volume of matches, we'll likely see them in the squad sooner than later.

If he carries on in this form it will be interesting to see if Tonda gives Ehibhatomhan a chance off the bench.

It would be ironic if he turns out to be more of a threat than Mubama but I would like to see the team play to his strengths rather than think he’s Larin Mk 2

I personally think we should of put these promising youngsters on the bench and not got in Dobbin and Mwbuma (whatever his name is)

Incredible to think in the summer you were giving the opinion the club should be strengthening in attack and yet here you are coming out with this.

Would really implore people to check out Mubamas record at u21/b team level if they really do find those records in anyway relevant for our young strikers.

I mean yes, it is very impressive!

Manchester City U21 Record (2024–2025)

After transferring from West Ham to Manchester City in August 2024, Mubama had a standout campaign leading City's Elite Development Squad (EDS) to the Premier League 2 title in the 2024–25 season:

  • Premier League 2: 9 appearances, 11 goals, and 4 assists (highlighting an exceptional goal-per-game ratio at the youth level).

Comparison: West Ham U21 / Academy Record

Before joining City, Mubama built a reputation as a lethal goalscorer in youth ranks with West Ham:

  • West Ham U18: 61 appearances, 43 goals (including a star turn in their 2022–23 FA Youth Cup-winning run where he scored 5 goals in just 3 matches).

  • West Ham U21 / U23 (Premier League 2): 35 appearances, 22 goals.

Across his broader youth/U21 career academy matches (spanning West Ham and Man City), Mubama consistently averaged close to or above a goal every match.

International U21 Record (England)

At the international level, Mubama has also carried that scoring form into the England U21 setup:

  • England U21s: 8 appearances and 5 goals, featuring heavily in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers.
