Predicted goal tallies

You missed Ballard. If he can break into the first team and build on his success in the Under 18s and Under 21s I could see him surpassing most of the players on that list. I think he definitely has the potential to get up into double figures. Similarly Amo-Ameyaw could get a few goals.

As for the other figures here, some I would agree with but I'm not sure about others. I don't actually think Djenepo will get enough appearances to score that many for example.

I'm too burnt by David McGoldrick to think Ballard will get any more than 2 goals this season

I look at our squad and I don’t see goals in many places without signings. Alcaraz will get a few. Apart from that it’s slim pickings

I would have backed Che to get a few (if he stays), but Martin’s style is about as opposite to Che’s style as possible.

As we all know; a striker has been a huge hole for years now.  It still is.

If Adam Armstrong gets 16 I’ll give £100 to a charity of your choice. I don’t think he’ll even get into double figures.

I think that this insightful analysis is close to what we will see, but not sure about Djenepo. However, once Martin’s system becomes familiar I can see him and Lyanco with around 40 assists apiece, plus Bazunu with at least 44 clean sheets - unlike the bedwetters.

Armstrong was always going to get goals.

The Alcaraz prediction reminds me of when we signed Skacel and people thought he was going to be the leagues top scorer with 30 goals, or when Freddie Sears went on loan to Palace and West Ham fans said he'd get 40 goals. Drastic under estimations of the league.

Alcaraz has underperformed my expectations even relative to the other players around him. He doesn't look the player we saw last season

I agree, mine too, but when you look at the amount of game time he's had it's going to be difficult for him to get consistency - especially when he's been publicly singled out by the manager as not suiting the system.

Minutes played:

69, 8, 69, 27, 72, 69, unused sub, 14, 40, 8, 56, not in squad, 90, 73.

Grand total of 595 minutes or the equivalent of 6 and a half games.

Here's how my predictions are going:

  • Alcaraz - 18 - didn't stay but wasn't going to hit it
  • A Armstrong - 16 - now 19
  • Tella - 15 - didn't stay
  • Sulemana - 9 - nowhere near
  • S Armstrong - 8 - currently on 5 so not too far off
  • Mara - 7 - has 6 so going well
  • Aribo - 6 - has 3 so only halfway
  • Djenepo - 4 - didn't stay
  • Edozie - 3 - has 6 so beat target
