However, there were threats and unnecessary comments of traitor etc. The protest was not peaceful. People do not get injured, and items damaged, in peaceful protests. Sure, it wasn't a riot, but don't kid yourself it was peaceful. Depends on how you measure it The BLM Protests with over 200 arrests was described as largely peaceful The Notting hill Carnival with over 600 arrests is described as a great family day out So by that measure this is safer than a village fate. 1

There might be a sigh of relief that there aren’t multiple murders there in a given year but I wouldn’t want to attend it any more than being amongst Thommo, Ossie and his balaclava mates in Portsmouth. Comparisons and false comparisons aren't needed to view something objectively, and through the eyes of decency or common sense. A protest where public servants are hurt, and property is damaged, could only be described as "peaceful" by someone seeking to justify that kind of behaviour as acceptable. 3

Agreed, which is why the BLM protests were not peaceful and neither is the Notting Hill carnival yet the narrative is very different from those who are meant to view and report things objectively and through the eyes of decency and common sense. 1

You can't compare a carnival with pockets of incidents with a protest which is essentially an incident in its own right. It's a false equivalence. 2 1

badgerx16 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago As a proportion of those taking part, how few arrests merit a protest being deemed "peaceful", how many more would modify this to "mostlly" peaceful or "largely" so ?

Because the protest was peaceful, all they did was block the coaches and stand in the water. Then dispersed as soon as the police got a dispersal order at 4am(ish). Literally all the other talk of thuggery etc is media amplification and you are all buying it hook, line and sinker 2

Sarnia Cherie Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The RNLI has always been held in high esteem and rightly so. I have nothing but admiration for those who volunteer to go out in all weathers, leaving their homes and families behind to save those in peril at sea. I struggle to even begin to understand those who consider the RNLI men and women as traitors. The sole purpose of this vital organisation is to Save Lives At Sea, irrespective of who those lives may be. Successive Governments have allowed the immigration situation to get to this point but when some people's mindsets have descended so far down the sewer as to verbally abuse and threaten the RNLI then we really are in trouble.

The tolerant 'centrists'! Agreed, there seems to be a bourgeoisie in this country that grew up thinking they were fighting “the system” by calling everyone far right, and they haven’t realised that “the system” has now flipped on its head and it’s being weaponised against the natives. Agreed about the public sector. Either that or they that have HR jobs and jobs with no meaningful output other than having meetings and doing the odd spreadsheet. You can tell this, because they think “lefty” is something to be proud of. That means they have no idea how reality actually works. 1
