However, there were threats and unnecessary comments of traitor etc. The protest was not peaceful. People do not get injured, and items damaged, in peaceful protests. Sure, it wasn't a riot, but don't kid yourself it was peaceful. Depends on how you measure it The BLM Protests with over 200 arrests was described as largely peaceful The Notting hill Carnival with over 600 arrests is described as a great family day out So by that measure this is safer than a village fate.

Not by most people it isn’t re: Notting Hill. There might be a sigh of relief that there aren’t multiple murders there in a given year but I wouldn’t want to attend it any more than being amongst Thommo, Ossie and his balaclava mates in Portsmouth. I didn’t consider hurling Colston’s statue into Bristol’s harbour to be peaceful either. 2

So you don't see anything wrong with falsely doxxing RNLI volunteers and calling them traitors, but you do think that the Daily Mail publishing the name of his roofing company, the registered address of which is already a matter of public record, is unacceptable and proves that the state is now far-left fascist? 4

Comparisons and false comparisons aren't needed to view something objectively, and through the eyes of decency or common sense. A protest where public servants are hurt, and property is damaged, could only be described as "peaceful" by someone seeking to justify that kind of behaviour as acceptable. 3

Agreed, which is why the BLM protests were not peaceful and neither is the Notting Hill carnival yet the narrative is very different from those who are meant to view and report things objectively and through the eyes of decency and common sense.

You can't compare a carnival with pockets of incidents with a protest which is essentially an incident in its own right. It's a false equivalence. 2

It was absolutely ridiculous Some people even denied there was any disorder whatsoever, then when they couldn't deny it any further, because it was all over the news and there were over 200 arrests, they said well it doesnt matter it's all for a good cause 😂 Using that metric then surely as we're all concerned about uncontrolled immigration, this was for a good cause?

I think there's a kind of "it could have been worse, so let's call it peaceful" with a PC approach being taken. Call a shovel a shovel, whoever holds it.

So not described as peaceful! Notting Hill can fairly be described as mostly peaceful.

Whereas the Telegraph have theirs on the weekend’s disorder. I call it as I see it/experience it and I wouldn’t want to be near any of it. There isn’t a side for me, destroying property is exactly that whether it’s BLM throwing statues into water, an anarchist defacing Churchill’s statue, someone pissing on the Cenotaph or a balaclava wanker kicking a Southsea resident’s wing mirror off. Or Pompey fans smashing up Goldsmith Ave after they beat us in 2004. Whatever the ideology, or claimed ideology, thuggery is thuggery. 1

Not quite what this video portrays https://news.sky.com/story/george-floyd-violence-breaks-out-at-anti-racism-protest-in-london-12001942 Those look like different dates. Pretty sure the first big one in London did go pretty much without trouble and it flared up subsequently at others. 1
badgerx16 Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago As a proportion of those taking part, how few arrests merit a protest being deemed "peaceful", how many more would modify this to "mostlly" peaceful or "largely" so ?
