Possession, attacking, high pressure, etc or can't tell. Occasionally we pass the ball forward and have shot things and cross things. We leave Quarshie in the middle of the park to out-sprint everyone. From time to time we play someone good and get rinsed yet get away with a draw. Really, it's not been much different from Eastleigh, to be honest. Hope beating Espanyol tomorrow will tell us more. Edited Friday at 21:01 by BarberSaint Edit - change 'drawer' to 'draw' just in case anyone thinks this is a Portsmouth forum.

I am unfortunately thinking it will not be anywhere near as good or successful.
hypochondriac Posted Saturday at 07:53 Posted Saturday at 07:53 (edited) Will be very interesting lineup today. Should give an indication about what Still's starting eleven is. Edited Saturday at 07:53 by hypochondriac
Gloucester Saint Posted Saturday at 08:06 Posted Saturday at 08:06 (edited) Interesting, suggests Ramsdale move not imminent, no McCarthy. Downes, Dibling and Taylor we know are injured. No Bednarek and Edwards starting, Jan’s agent told to get on with it, shit or get off the potty. Aribo on the bench but suspect the messaging similar. Who is RWB? Quarshie by the looks. Spors needs to hurry up around bringing wide players in with pace. Edited Saturday at 08:11 by Gloucester Saint
Willo of Whiteley Posted Saturday at 08:06 Posted Saturday at 08:06 I’ve certainly been encouraged that we’ve been playing a back four all pre-season. 3

Not sure the Fraser thing is going to work he's just not at the quality of Stu Armstrong. BBD starting just shows how light we are in the wings. Maybe Still thinks Robinson is better off the bench. If Downes and Dibling return will they replace Fraser and BBD or Armstrong I wonder.

Markyruk Posted Saturday at 08:12 Posted Saturday at 08:12 I get the team as listed down to Fernandes but don’t understand how the rest of midfield and up front will line up. 1

Willo of Whiteley Posted Saturday at 08:16 Posted Saturday at 08:16 I do find it odd that you wouldn’t have Sugawara at RB for one half and Bree at RB for the other. Ryan Fraser down the centre seems bizarre too (if that’s where he ends up playing).

I would suggest given that this is a proper game and it's two weeks till the season starts that it is much more likely that this is the likely starting eleven against Wrexham. 1

If that's the case then we don't really have anyone else to play in the role Fraser is taking (probably the reason we've stayed we want an AM)

trousers Posted Saturday at 08:36 Posted Saturday at 08:36 Sounds like Still could be getting a tune out of BBD where others have failed to do so...? 1
gio1saints Posted Saturday at 08:37 Posted Saturday at 08:37 It looks like a back four but you get the impression that with 3 centre backs amongst them it’s going to be a three that tucks in when we are attacking on flanks. Meaning wellington in this case may have more freedoms to attack. On the rh side I’d say that’s to allow MF more freedoms to attack know g he has RE covering perhaps?
trousers Posted Saturday at 08:40 Posted Saturday at 08:40 Anyone know the calibre of Espanyol's starting 11?
hypochondriac Posted Saturday at 08:41 Posted Saturday at 08:41 4 minutes ago, trousers said: Sounds like Still could be getting a tune out of BBD where others have failed to do so...? That hasn't translated to the games so far. He has been decent in the championship previously though. I'd really like him to start firing for his sake as well as for ours.

Ramsdale Edwards / Stephens / Quarshie / Welington Fernandes / Charles Armstrong / Fraser / Brereton-Diaz Archer I'd guess so, the other possibility being Fraser and Wely at WB and a 5-2-3, although Still hasn't hinted at anything like that in pre-season. In either case, the starting line up looks a bit top heavy with strikers and I'm guessing it's being done to accommodate eleven changes at half time.
Mr Brightside Posted Saturday at 08:43 Posted Saturday at 08:43 Do find it odd that again we’re not playing Suga or Bree at RB. Not really a glowing endorsement for either. 1

Does seem curious that we're focusing on "giving players minutes" (out of position) rather playing players in their orthodox positions this close to the start of the season though... Agree. Fraser and AA.. well, maybe, although don’t see Fraser as a starter this season (hoping), then you get to the Sheffield Utd dream team. Two players I hoped we’d not see again in a Saints shirt. Both closely following Bazunu out of the door this summer.

Their best player is on the bench (Puado) and there are some new players in that 11. Finished 14th in La Liga last year - were tipped for relegation early, but got out of that battle just after the turn of the new year. In summary, it's not a team of scrubs, but likely not their best team either. Should add - their GK last year was incredible, sold to Barça this summer. Dimitrovic is supposed to replace him, but a tall order Edited Saturday at 08:54 by santolijador additional info 2

Or perhaps he’s shit, and left out of their squad.
