Mboto Gorge Posted Sunday at 17:40 Posted Sunday at 17:40 (edited) Now firstly this is not a dig at anyone who wants to keep going. It’s every individuals perogative to go to as many or as few matches as they want to. Some people go to football regardless of the clubs situation, for their own mental health, for some family time away from work and other stresses, and as an escape from everyday life, and that’s absolutely fine and commendable. I am just genuinely interested to know what the breaking point is for most fans of this club when they decide it’s time to stop going to games due to the horrific ownership of this football club dragging it into the doldrums. I say this as despite the ill feeling even before Saturday, we still had a very decent attendance figure of over 27k, even with only 1k away fans. Personally I stopped going or having any intention of going now after the Blackburn game. I can’t bring myself to go for a while now as it feels like I’m accepting , in a way, the way this club is being run. That doesn’t mean I think anyone who’s going is condoning the running of this club, but for me I feel I can’t keep being this anti sport republic and our players, but keep attending, that’s a personal choice. Where do others stand on this? As I’ve said this isn’t an “I’m a better fan than you” debate - just genuinely interested on each individual opinion . Edited Sunday at 17:42 by Mboto Gorge
die Mannyschaft Posted Sunday at 18:16 Posted Sunday at 18:16 No ones going to stop going if a season ticket holders or member who go the majority of games. You would end up missing the only home win Saints are likely to get in next 2 months. You may as well go then can say I was there. And the 4 wins in 60 games is coming up.
Strangely Brown Posted Monday at 07:49 Posted Monday at 07:49 My last season as a season ticket holder was last year. I’ve had one for 35 years and been going to games home and away for over 50 years but Sports Republic have beaten any enjoyment out of it for me. Losing used to ruin many a weekend and to be honest I just can’t stand looking at the wreckage of a once proud club, I loved to be associated with, its heartbreaking. 😟 I take my hat off to those who continue to go but not for me until either Sports Republic stop with their clever bollocks approach to football or we get a manager who can turn this shambles around and kick out the alleged senior players who are disrupting the changing room 2
saintwiz Posted Monday at 08:01 Posted Monday at 08:01 Id had a season ticket since we moved to St Marys but when Will Still was appointed that was the final straw and i didnt renew this season and have not been to any games. its bad enough watching the games on a stream. i will return when Sport Republic leave.
Give it to Ron Posted Monday at 08:31 Posted Monday at 08:31 Would seriously consider it if they re-appoint Martin. I dislike the smarmy prick so much and his football style bores me to tears. After Rangers debacle he won’t change a thing and blame their mentality not his. 3
wild-saint Posted Monday at 09:12 Posted Monday at 09:12 I’d be demanding a refund of my season ticket if they reappointed Martin. If they refused I’d just shout abuse for 90minutes. 1
Stripey McStripe Shirt Posted Monday at 09:37 Posted Monday at 09:37 Traditionally after the final whistle, but sometimes people leave just before the end to either beat the traffic or show their displeasure.
lumuah Posted Monday at 09:38 Posted Monday at 09:38 I've already bought tickets for the games I can go to until Christmas. After that, who knows. I don't mind losing - I've been a supporter for long enough to know as a Saints fan I will see plenty of defeats - but what I do mind is the manner of losing. Preston had players throwing themselves at the ball to block it - one nearly gave himself concussion blocking a shot - but you can't see any Saints doing the same. Nobody busting a gut to win a ball; always second to a free ball. When the players show such cowardice it is hard to have any connection with them. On Saturday Leo put in a hard working performance and the crowd were singing his name. How many others did you hear? Sure there were some for Aribo before he was on the pitch, but once he was on - nothing. Now I just look at the club with apathy. We have a bunch of misfits who really don't seem to care, and the ones who do care lack the ability to have any influence on a game. Without a seismic shift, I can't see me going to many games next year. I'm paying to be entertained, and that simply isn't happening. 1

Saint Matty 76 Posted Monday at 09:41 Posted Monday at 09:41 I wouldn't, to be honest. I'll skip more games than I typically do due to extended travel and the pay-off not being worthwhile, but football is a reason to see friends I likely wouldn't otherwise.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted Monday at 16:39 Posted Monday at 16:39 Ask me when we announce our next manager. If it's Martin or Eckert then I'm done.
Farmer Saint Posted Monday at 16:59 Posted Monday at 16:59 Judging by a lot of posters on here we'd have to start going to home games first... 2

Steve Coppell (Reading) and Lee Clark (Huddersfield) had long unbeaten runs as managers. Coppell got Reading promoted with a record tally, while Clark got the sack - his run was spread over two season and too many draws saw them fail to challenge for promotion.

Your post sums up what I feel. It was a few days before I could manage to watch the highlights, and the defending for their goal was abysmal, I hadn't realised quite how bad until I saw it again. I know there is a lack of confidence but at least put some effort in. It wasn't until the second half and he was in front of me that I remembered Downes was playing, in spite of reading the line up at the beginning. He wasn't the only anonymous player out there either..
