I'm not a big fan at the moment, as I'm sure a lot can tell, but that is mainly due to a lot of the native people that live here. However, this country does have some things going for it, so this thread is for positivity and good things about this country.

So to start - this is pretty fucking cool:

Along with Holmes & Watson’s - you naughty pair.

Quite a lot seems to have evaporated, generally loosly associated with Thailand.

I was just about to post "self depreciating humour" and "comedy generally."

The National Trust and some of its places are wonderful. Cragside, Fountains Abbey, Stourhead, plus some amazing public places - Tennyson Down, Compton Beach, amongst countless others.

It's easy to dwell on the negatives, but this place has a lot going for it.

If you’re ever in South Devon, you have got to go to Coleton Fishacre. Overbecks is very good in Salcombe but the road up to is a 🐷 if you’ve got a bigger car. But if you like 1920s style and spectacular coastal scenery, you can’t beat Coleton.

Croome is on our spring visit list - excited about that.

Indeed they are wonderful,  but the National Trust is ridiculously expensive.

Not too bad with an annual membership - and the cafes aren’t that expensive comparatively these days.

Loads of NT properties around here so we get our value out of it.

Individual entry fees are bonkers, but I think annual membership is great value, and helps a very worthy cause.
