Yes, we (the club) ultimately ended up doing wrong regardless, but if Tonda was telling people to do this kinda thing within the regulated timeframes, and they subsequently ignore him, then any punishment specifically aimed at Tonda has to take that into account... No. He needs to quite simply put his hands up, admit that he f**ked up and hope for some leniency for being honest. If he starts spinning some yarn about how he told an analyst to go and spy on his opponents within the allowable period but they, "accidentally turned up a couple of days late for some unknown reason and accidentally spied during the forbidden period, which just happens to be most beneficial to me as a manager but I didn’t know about the 72 hour rule honestly, but yeah this happened by accident on three separate occasions against Ipswich, Oxford and Boro," then he’s going to start looking a bit silly. 1

I agree. We haven't done that though have we. We've put our hands up, admitted liability and pleaded for leniancy.

TBF I don't think we were entirely truthful at the start or at least appeared to be concealing stuff which is part of the issue. That doesn't appear to be the case with the FA investigation though so you'd hope we'd get some credit for that. I just don't see what they hope to gain if they ban him to the extent that we have to fire him. The punishment on the club is severe enough that I highly doubt anyone will do it again so the deterrent is in place. He's made a mistake and deserves some punishment but it has to be proportionate. Racism is imo much worse and that's ten games. 1

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that every manager in this division wants a promotion rival to be scuppered, but I'd be amazed if this half-wit has gone around all the 72 managers in the EFL and genuinely sought their opinion, or if he's just woken up from a drunken stupor, had a microphone shoved in front of him and decided unilaterally that he is the voice of all managers everywhere.

He’s probably one of the few managers who could actually be arsed to join the conversation with an opinion, especially given it’s a week off for a lot of them. Not everything is a conspiracy against us. It just so happens the stronger view points will be clipped up and put out because otherwise people aren’t going to talk about their content.

BBC just happened to be speaking to fucking Cambridge Uniteds manager who was only too happy to share with them that EVERY manager wants Tonda to get a HUGE ban and plaster it all over their socials just before the hearing. No push back, who had told you this then Harris? Show us your research? I know right - in a fair world the BBC would have come to St Mary's weeks ago and their Sports Editor Dan Roan would have done a one-to-one interview with the club's CEO, giving him the opportunity to put forward the club and Tonda's case in his own words. They would have filmed it, and put it on the BBC football homepage in both written and video format. At the same time, they would have interviewed Tonda, asking for his thoughts and views and giving him the chance to get his points across as well. Then they would have published both of those stories several days earlier, giving them much more time to be seen by more people. But as if that would ever happen Edited 49 minutes ago by Midfield_General 1 2

Well, Mr Harris has been up on a charge at the FA so many times that other managers probably look at him as an excellent example of the sort of behaviour that can get a ban. Tonda's alleged offences pale in comparison to the sort of things that Harris gets up to.
hypochondriac Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago I'm surprised we haven't seen more of a coordinated response from some of our 'legends.' I'd have thought you'd have seen mlt, Benali, Lambert, Walcott in the media putting pressure on this week about proportionate responses. Maybe they've been told it would be a hindrance rather than a help but stuff like that does help shape a narrative.
Sunglasses Ron Posted 23 minutes ago Posted 23 minutes ago Neil Harris bang on the money to be fair. List of badz people in the world... 5. Harold Shipman 4. Jimmy Saville 3. Ian Huntley 2. Adolph Hitler 1. TONDA ECKERT I'm convinced he's looking at a minimum three month ban, so KO'd until the New Year. That probably fits between the "we've been punished enough" and the "hang him up by his private parts" narratives. I personally feel the club should have sacked him as this is surely another season ruined, but I do understand why they made the decision they did (which I think was partially made out of defiance to the grossly unfair punishment dished out). 1

I don't think it's going to have any affect on proceedings at all, neither is that clickbait Harris interview. Lose to the skates and people will want him gone straight away. Also what if Tonda wants to take another job somewhere? He's only contracted to the end of the season. We have to make a permanent appointment if it's a long total football ban. No way should we write the entire season off.
