Not sure if this has been covered already within existing posts but wonder what the views are from those at the Northam end regarding the two decisions in the penalty area regarding fouls against Scienza, Larin and and Ediozi.

From where I was sat it looked that the challenge on Scienza would have been given as a pen on another day.

It is easy to complain about the Ref, which I did during the game, but having reff'd games at amateur level in the past, I know how difficult it is to keep a hold on things, particularly when two teams are going at it hell for leather.

They should have had one in the first two mins. Didn't really impact the game seeing as they scored right after anyway.

We should have had one for the pull on Stewart. He was getting to the ball, had players in support for the lay off and was clearly pulled down.

Matsuki handled it. As ever with handball, could have gone either way, but plenty of times would have been given. The ref indicated it hit Matsuki's shoulder, so he obviously didn't see it clearly.

The Ayling on Sceinza was probably a foul but by that point I dont think the ref fancied it and he would have had to send Ayling off.

The Larin one wasn't a foul. He got to the ball but fell over stretching for it and the defender didn’t bring him down.

I've only seen the last two but I've seen photos of the shirt pull on Stewart. How that wasn't given we shall never know.

Aylingn on Scienza was just a touch on the chest and a theatrical dive. Leo would have been better advised to stay on his feet.

Latin I agree with you.

I read a comment somewhere thst the ref had made his mind up not to give anything that could be potentially contentious, so short of ABH nothing would be given.

I'm pretty sure the final has VAR.

Pretty sure Stewart's goal would have got a long looking at last night if VAR was available. Same with those penalty calls.

I would say the penalty against Matsuki would have been given if it was VAR - almost certainly. We got lucky with that one.

I thought the pull back on Stewart in front of our goal was blatant, and equally it was a really clumsy tackle on Larin in the penalty box. Larin had got ahead of him, their player missed the ball and just cut over him. Maybe it would have been 'soft', but it would have probably been given with VAR.

The ref had a bad game in that regard, he missed a few big calls for either side. I notice Boro think we paid him off though, so we'll probably get a charge for that soon.

I haven't seen replays for the incidents, just what I saw last night. From my view, the Larin one wouldn't have been a penalty pre-VAR, but with slow motion and VAR, it's more commonly given these days, looked to me like a clumsy coming together and Larin getting to the ball first.

The Scienza one was really soft, the worst and most frustrating part of his game. Stay on your feet.

On the coverage I saw all the pundits agreed there were five penalties in the game. Then they called in a female "rules expert" probably a highly qualified referee, she agreed that it should have been 3-2 SFC on penalties. Described the referee as having a bad day at the office, rating him 2 out of 10.

Or simply had chosen to apply a higher than normal tolerance level.

Classic footballing lack of logic if it does. Play an entire season without it: play a semi-final without it; bring it in for the final. Mental.

I would like to clarify that the above refers to VAR.

Something he needs to learn to do. He's becoming like the boy who cried wolf and not doing himself any favours. Let your skill do the talking Leo.
