Apparently sounded more gutted about the result tonight then Wotte did. I gather he was doing the game on sky.

Could he be coming in?

(No, i dont think he will be, but why feel sad for us)

Because I beleive there are a lot of neutrals around in the game, old school, that have a lot of time for us.

Lowe hasnt managed to alienate all that sentiment....yet.

And there was me thinking Holloway couldn't stand us.

He was at SMS on Saturday wasn't he?

Yes but specifically stated on SSN he was there to watch Swansea.

Did indeed sound very sincere about Saints, but think it was just a general neutral's reaction - was surprised though, given things I have heard from him in the past - including comments on Fighting Talk a while back re: his thoughts of Harry Redknapp being a genius for taking us down then keeping Pompey up.

There were rumours of Crouch having a proven English manager lined up and he was at SMS at the weekend. Stranger things have happened. His comments about the side needing more experience could've been said by Crouch himself and he did seem far more gutted that lost than Wotte.

Holloway was saying from the off, we played lovely football and should be higher but unffortunately the inexperience of youngsters is showing! Attacking football fantastic, as soon as a team attacks us, the fraility shows! Paul Jewell also said we were a good footballing side.

Holly couldn't believe though that Euell didn't start, he was in shock in fact. Basically said, he bolstered the team when he came on and changed it for the better. He is old school, but I liked his passion and he looked gutted when Sheff scored the winner!!

Thats what we need, that old school passion!! Get someone like that in now, and we will have half a chance, we really will!!!

The whole dutch experiment has to end now!!! this isn't a KNEEJERK reaction, they should never have been appointed in first place!!!!!!!!!!

Get some one in now, Dowie, Holloway, Jewell, Pardew, Boothroyd, all would do a job!!

PLEASE, this club is sinking faster than the Titanic

I listened to our FA Cup match with Man Utd on 5 Live.

Ian Holloway was the co-commentator and clearly wanted us to win, he was really angry when we went down to 10 men

He was definately on Saints' side that day - after the sending off and the award of the penalty for McGoldrick's "handball", when the commentator asked him who he thought was going to take the penalty he said "It wouldn't suprise me to see Mike Riley take it...."

A mate and i spoke to him at the petrol station round the corner from the stadium on Saturday while at the cash point. We asked him what he was doing these days - he replied that he was their for 5 live as he's doing commentary for them. We asked if he fancied the job at SMS, his response was "i wish! Haven't you got a mental chairman though?" To wich we replied yeah a proper f*cking mental one!! :D He also said unsuprisingly that leaving Plymouth was the worst mistake of his career, he had a good thing going on down there and obviously regretted having gone to Leicester (he didn't have any kind words for Mandaric to be sure!). All in all, he seemed a nice enough bloke, i used to like his column on the BBC website. I was dissapointed with his comments about us thinking we are a big club at the time, but we would love our manager to wind up other clubs with that kind of statement so i don't hold it against him.

He is really really small too, couldn't be more than 5"5"- 5"6"- not really worth mentioning, except i was taken aback at just how small he was!

i have met him (briefly) on a night out in plymouth ages ago...I was in the blues bar on the barbican here in plymouth, it was packed solid, he walked and and the whole pub stopped and applauded him...

yes, he is short...I said hello and thought he has plymouth far higher than they should be...he laughed and said he is doing his best (or something like that)

really nice bloke, he was speaking to everyone in the bar

He just couldnt understand why Jason was not on from the start, and feels that we are on the way down, he suggested that there is something about St. Marys that we will have no luck from the ground.

Sorry for bringing this back but having been thinking about Holloway's reaction on Sky the other night and Crouch's ability to bring in an English manager now I think Holloway would be a brilliant choice.

Why?

He cares.... ALOT.

He is his own man - not a camp follower like Wotte/JP or others. He warned Mandaric over relegation and was proven right. He'd be the plain talking manager that Crouch would need to keep him in his place.

He has been very successful at this level.

He has a WGSesque style with the media, which is amusing if nothing else and makes him popular with the media, if a little eccentric.

HE IS VERY POSITIVE.

He comes from a hard family background - I think he has disabled/blind children which doesnt dint his passion and focus.

He motivates - players AND I believe fans.

I think Holloway may be what we need. He might not now be able to rescue us but by god I sense with him having had the back end of the season to win over our players we'll stand a chance of significant improvement and return to the CCC relatively quickly.

Currently we're heading for League 2. With Crouch and Holloway there's hope.

No he doesnt, he called anyone an idiot who said hed quit plymouth. Then quit them for more money and promptly relegated Leicester.

L1 clubs wont even touch him, hed be a disaster for Saints, plays hoofball and would rather play a 6ft CB up front that someone like Cureton.

I'm sure when Mandaric employed him it was with a view to gaining promotion not relegation otherwise he wouldn't of got the job in the first place.

+1

We are already a laughing stock, we don't need Holloway the Clown to make things even worse. I want Wotte out, but Holloway would be too much for me to stomach. There are many, much better options out there champing at the bit for a job like Saints even with a lunatic chairman (or two).

Should add, what has he ever achieved. I read someone on here slagging off Sturrock earlier, the man with 4 promotions (nearly 5) to his name in the lower leagues. Holloway has only ever achieved promotion once (ironically as runners up to Argyle that Sturrock had guided almost to the championship) and been relegated twice. Even Lowe has not achieved that ambitio just yet. Holloway: Clown and failure.

I think the man is a buffoon who masks some really poor results with quips which help make him popular. Which is like someone else who took us down. I used to like him but then began to see through him, helped by some Argyle relatives who brought my attention to what he is like.

But the fact that he would almost certainly be a better choice than the current puppet says it all.
