washsaint Posted 10 April, 2009 Share Posted 10 April, 2009 None other than Carlos Slim Helú. Apparently he is worth $35 billion and has followed Saints for some time as he thinks we are a sleeping giant with the greatest fan base and thinks we should be challenging for Champions League football. Apparently, he also wants to introduce Mexican food to the concourses to improve our catering. Supposedly this guy is in advanced talks to buy Saints - not only is he up against Mukesh Ambani but also some Americans by the name of Walton (who I believe own WalMart) and the founders of IKEA. Who wants a billionaire??

trousers Posted 10 April, 2009 Share Posted 10 April, 2009 Is it logical to assume that Vulcan (Paul Allen's investment company) would be looking at the prospects of buying an available/on-the-market English League football club as a matter of course? After all, their remit as a company is to seek investment in the worldwide sporting sector (amongst others). As such, to not be showing an interest in a relatively high profile club that is on the open market would mean they're not actually doing their job? So, on that logical basis, I hereby declare that Mr Allen's advisors must, by definition, be involved.
