Rumour about possible buyer......

None other than Carlos Slim Helú. Apparently he is worth $35 billion and has followed Saints for some time as he thinks we are a sleeping giant with the greatest fan base and thinks we should be challenging for Champions League football.

Apparently, he also wants to introduce Mexican food to the concourses to improve our catering.

Supposedly this guy is in advanced talks to buy Saints - not only is he up against Mukesh Ambani but also some Americans by the name of Walton (who I believe own WalMart) and the founders of IKEA.

Who wants a billionaire??

4. Somone who works in receiption at SMS told me

5. A former player told me

6. A current player in the youth team told me

7. A current first team player told me

8. A former director told me

9. The administrator told me

10. Its me putting in a bid

Didn't we have a similar system in the halcyon takeover days? I seem to remember Life Long scoring himself a 10 every time....

According to Rupert Lowe we already had world-class catering. Perhaps, and one can only hope, he's taken it with him?

If someone wanted to take over us so badly then they would of done it over the last couple of years where they had no competition and only had to offer Rupert 50p a share.

Why get involved in a bidding war with other supposing giants?

because we can now be bought for a 5th of that price?

If he can employ staff that can actually serve quickly then he has my vote.

Taking a zero off the 50p share price might play a part.

Carlos Slim obviously wants to get his wallet open - he was allegedly interested in buying the Honda F1 team at one point. The lure of St Marys is greater than the idea of swanning around the world with the Grand Prix circus?

Better? Doubt it.

Cheaper? Just a tad

Oi - hang on a minute here - IKEA is Swedish and the founders Name is Ingvar Kamprad .... He is NOT buying Saints that I can promise. Hes not buying anything since he keeps his money to him self.

The bloke drives around in a 15 year old Volvo and eats at the Ikea cafe to save money. Sounds like the most likely to take over Saints to me!

I think someone's been working their way down the top 10 rich list and plucking names out.

I will be furious with Lowe if it turns out we really have attracted this calibre of interest.

All those years wasted on a power hungry gimp starving the club and bringing it to the very edge of the financial abyss..

Don't hold your breath.

International billionnaire wants to buy third division football from town famous only for being where Titanic embarked...

Is it logical to assume that Vulcan (Paul Allen's investment company) would be looking at the prospects of buying an available/on-the-market English League football club as a matter of course?

After all, their remit as a company is to seek investment in the worldwide sporting sector (amongst others). As such, to not be showing an interest in a relatively high profile club that is on the open market would mean they're not actually doing their job?

So, on that logical basis, I hereby declare that Mr Allen's advisors must, by definition, be involved.

So lets have a poll shall we ?

Is a 'big helu' from Carlos likely or not ?

Personally I'd say its a very slim chance.

I just hope that you will be able to live with yourself if any of these billionaires pull out because you revealed their intentions during what must be sensitive negotiations.

Stupid post IMO.

I highly doubt that the founder of IKEA (a swedish man named Ingvar Kamprad) is interested. Even though he is one of the richest men in the world, he is known as to be very careful with his money. He has never ever (as I can remember) sponsored a sports event or shown the least interest in sports at all.

I can't believe some of you lot.

You're the same people responsible for Allen walking away and IMO are more at fault than the stay-aways and the plastics.

Carlos, I know you'll be reading this so can I just say on behalf of all the true Saints fans, we welcome you wholeheartedly.

I fear you have an over inflated opinion of this forum. I think a man who has got himself in the position of being one of the richest people in the world has enough about him to see this for the nonsense that it is. I can't belive people are getting excited over yet another Paul Allen style wind up anyway. Get real people please.

All possibles. How I smile at those posters who said no one would be interested in buying Saints... ;)

Happy days at last are round the corner... shame Lowe had to ruin it for another year and a season in League 1. Never forgive him, even though he's now gone forever.

Nonsense.

It's nay'sayers like this that are responsible for most of the problems in the world.

Bus found on moon springs to mind.

Ah ha well you guys will discover that is all but true this weekend....

Yep Dr Who takes a ride on a London Bus this weekend in his Easter Special and it lands up on the planet of the dead where the evil fly people try and zap him....

(Which doesn't really even a little bit look like the desert just outside of Dubai...)

What's more the bus which is on a planet that looks like the moon also suffers a nasty crash on the way

There - hope that's ITK enough so obviously Bus on the moon - BINGO there is the confirmation!

This is a dead cert done deal then, but how on earth we gonna eat Fajitas while standing on the concourse?
