Paul Chuckle Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 A representative of the group contacted us this afternoon. They look promising. Yeah i think the guys have a bright future in the music business and they are doing well at the minute. When i mentioned it to the band they instantly wanted to take part, no questions asked they just want to be part of helping SFC and thats what its all about helping SFC. Fair play to you guys for organising it, just hope the sun is shinning and it will be a good day

Marsdinho Posted 20 April, 2009 Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Whilst I commend you on trying to do something to save Saints, I dont think this is a great idea, I have some questions to reflect that.... 1. What sort of turn out do you expect. 2. How much money raised would be considered a success 3. What are the acoustics like in the Itchen Concourse 4. What measures are in place to ensure that only the paying customers listen / see the music and not a load of freeloaders 5. How much will that cost 6. How much will it cost to Police the event. 7. If you manage to get the The Delays, do you consider them to be a crowd puller. 8. Is it a good idea to organise it under the umbreller of the Saints Trust, knowing what reputation they have amongst most Saints fans. 9. Is it a good idea to publish the names of those organising it knowing that this will put off some people from attending. 10. Are the "VERY special guests" Mike Osman, Franny Benali and Le Tiss. SimonRichards Posted 20 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 20 April, 2009 Whilst I commend you on trying to do something to save Saints, I dont think this is a great idea, I have some questions to reflect that.... 1. What sort of turn out do you expect. We hope to sell all the evening tickets and would like to see as many possible visit during the day 2. How much money raised would be considered a success Anything over £10,000, which we realise is a drop in the ocean, but is just as much about showing any potential buyer what the fans will do for their club. 3. What are the acoustics like in the Itchen Concourse It was a concern of ours but We have an experienced glastonbury stage manager and sound technician who are going to oversee the main stage and they don't believe their will be a problem with sound. 4. What measures are in place to ensure that only the paying customers listen / see the music and not a load of freeloaders The concourse will be cleared before the evening show. Entry to the concourse will be strictly by ticket only after 6.30pm 5. How much will that cost Nothing, if we get freeloaders jumping over the fence during the day rather than paying a couple of quid, thats down to them, it isn't glastonbury . Prices will be announced very soon 6. How much will it cost to Police the event. We have many Stewards willing to do the work freely. 7. If you manage to get the The Delays, do you consider them to be a crowd puller. It would be great to get the delays, however it is more about local musicians and the talent that is in southampton giving their time freely for the club. Please check the website for the excellent quality of bands we already have. If we do not get the big name headline act, it will still be a great day and evening whilst raising funds for the club and raising the clubs media profile infront of any potential buyers 8. Is it a good idea to organise it under the umbreller of the Saints Trust, knowing what reputation they have amongst most Saints fans. It isn't under the umbrella of the saints trust, it is in association with them. The club would not have been interested if it did not involve one of the recognised supporter groups. 9. Is it a good idea to publish the names of those organising it knowing that this will put off some people from attending. Would you suggest that the organisers were an invisible group who could not be contacted by sponsors, bands, interested parties etc? 10. Are the "VERY special guests" Mike Osman, Franny Benali and Le Tiss. you'll have to wait to find out... I hope that clears up some of your questions Matt. Would you suggest that the organisers were an invisible group who could not be contacted by sponsors, bands, interested parties etc? What a pompous bunch of ******s you guys are. You all can share the blame in the way the club has been run over the last 5 years. So who are you going to support on the board next ? Lets all hope that if the club does not die then the Saints trust does. A concert ? that wont even pay a couple of players wages for a month. Still the Saints trust will look good to any new owners. You should change your name to "30 pieces of silver". RL walked away, why dont the trust. Its not the love of the club that drives you guys its the love of yourselves and the power trips. All in my opinion of course.

Quite how you can criticise anyone, no matter what group they represent, when they are getting off their backsides, spending their own money on a website, and doing their best. Maybe a list of what you are doing, to counter the criticism, would be in order.

Is this just modern bands? because the guy who sits behind me in the Itchen Block 4 plays and is the leader of a cracking professional Irish folk band all locals, they play all over the country, have made records, I have seen them, they are very good. I have his name and number if you are interested. The band is called 'Shebeen'.
