In my opinion, in 99% of cases where someone gets hit with a baton, smacked with a shield or cuffed round the ear, they deserve it. It's about time people had more respect for the police.
exactly i an with you unless of course they deliberately have a go then get videod and cry brutality in order to make a fast buck:)

is it moooosh?

The police are always whiter than white aren't they? Never seen a copper charged for misconduct, never seen a copper charged with drink driving, never seen a copper charged with dealing, or rape etc. Exactly, you are one those people that are always on our fans backs. Anti lowe protests "the fans should support the team" marches against the board"the fans should get behind the team". Stop blaming the fans for everything. Yes, violence is not the answer, but in saying that you are saying violence IS the answer "The fans that got hit deserved it"!!!

Minor scuffles, I really do think people like you need to get out a bit, visit the real world, come to a council estate and taste REAL life, the struggle, the fight just to survive!

the police should have more respect for the public. a friend of mine was out in town and happened to be stood by some vomit on the ground. the police insisted it was his vomit and tried to make him clean it up with his brand new white top. in my opinion after that little display the police dont deserve any respect. maybe a good slap though.

Ahh. So based on a 10 second Youtube clip you've made a judgement on what happened. Perhaps that is the "maybe the stupidest thing to say ever".

There are always cases where misuse of power occurs (that's why I said 99%), but you've no more knowledge of what happened before the video clip than I have. My (un-evidenced) opinion is that he's unlikely to be blameless.

It's not as if the prospect of trouble wasn't publicised (and in those cases keep the **** out of Dodge is my opinion), plus he's ambling along hands in pockets using the deliberately slow walk of a substituted player. Let's say the police had told him to shift on a couple of times and he'd ignored or bad mouthed them. What do they then do?

That said, no one deserves to die, regardless of how stupid they are.

As for the other high profile cases. I'm just glad they've got Max Clifford to help them through the trauma.

Lack of respect permeates our society - police, teachers, referees. You've only got to look at the way players talk to the Ref, and the Refs let it happen, more often without punishment. You've only got to look at yesterday's match for that. Equip the Ref's with pepper spray and that's problem solved.

I'm a political "lefty" - but I believe most of the G20 mob and most of the mob yesterday, got what they deserved (and in most cases were looking for).

There are plenty of tossers in the police force just like any other profession, they have to earn respect just like anyone else IMO.

I know they are not renowned for their intelligence, but bringing out a line of dogs in front of a bunch of ****ed off football fans was daft beyond belief. Was just a red rag to a bull, no one appeared to give a monkeys about running on the pitch until the retards with the dogs turned up.

St Jason. I've lived on council estates (you should try Bransholme, it's lovely this time of year).

I'm not saying that every policeman is a saint, or that miscarriages don't occur. I'm saying that if you go up and scream in a police officers (or anyone's) face, then you should expect consequences. The problem today is that too many of the 'yoof' think they've got rights without any responsibilities.

The problem is that police get so much ****e from people that they are less likely to believe the 'honest' bystander when he's in a mob hurling bricks.

So, he may of been "walking along slowly" so hit him, maybe kill him, but yea "he deserves it" for walking, sorry "ambling along, hands in pocket", ffs wake up man. Yes, fifght fire with fire, but do you reall y think he deserves to DIE for "ambling along"?

WTF? Are you for real? You've probably alienated yourself from quite a chunk of the people that post on here.

On another note; one of the questions that gets asked when you're interviewed to become a magistrate goes along the lines of "Whose evidence are you more likely to believe, that of the defendant or that of the arresting police officer?"

Those that answer "Why, the police officer of course" find that their careers as magistrates could end sooner than they thought.*

*No, I'm not a magistrate.

What "offer" was the G20 bloke looking for?, was he going to the sales?. If so he certainly got more than he 'bargained for'.

As for being killed by the Police, what are you on about, have you had the autopsy results before everyone else? If so I suspect judging by your juvenile comment you wouldn't be able to understand the large words used...idiot.

The people on here slagging off "the Police" are just as bad as anyone slating "saints fans" when this get ugly.

There are good cops and yes, there will in any organisation numbering more than 2 people who have a degree of power over others, be bad cops too. Just like there were "good" fans and "bad" fans yesterday.

The sweeping generalisations on here say more about the people making them than those they accuse.

100% agree. Too many snot nosed spotty little *****s running around getting away with murder. Police should be given the freedom to cuff the gobby little shytes.

Well said.

I have learned quite a lot tonight about certain members and their rather quaint opinions of certain sections of society.

Clearly you didn't read all my post.

I don't for one minute think the policeman intended to kill that poor man. Do you?

The question then is did he deserve a shove / a whack on the back? I was suggesting as to why they (the police) felt a need to attack him.

The fact that he died is an irrelevance (clearly not to him, and clearly not to his family) but in the grand scheme of things. The key is whether or not you believe being obstructive (in the way I suggested he was being) deserves a physical response.

Personally I think the whole thing is being shamelessly exploited by those with an anti-police agenda. To be honest our police are straighter and more responsible than most around the world.

I think your right with regards to the anti-police lobby (which I'm not part of) I saw a picture in the Gaurdian last week of the protest, a skin head bloke of some 15-18 stone had his hands around a female officers throat, his face contorted with hate and anger, yes batton charge, cs, taser him but, does a go slow protest really warrant a batton roand the head/back????

Did this really happen? I'd be interested in seeing some mobile phone footage if it's available, just to see if it's true that you really do, hilariously, lose bowel and bladder control when breakdancing under the effect of a few tens of thousands of Volts.
