McGoldrick going?

He'd probably be good in league 1. That doesn't make him too good for league 1.

He wasn't good enough for the CCC yet IMO. Sorry but that goal tally when playing every game of a 46 game season is poor IMO. I didn't get that excited by John getting 19. It's a long season and a poor league. If someone gets 30, then well done, that's impressive. Huge plaudits for these low totals only seems to have come about in the last 3 or 4 years and it's bizarre.

I just want someone to answer why McGoldrick cannot kick a ball cleanly. Not about accuracy, forms, goals, just the ability to kick a ball. In space, however much time, he can't make a clean contact. Why not?

we came second to bottom and created very little. Double figures was an achievement

Nothing to do with chavs either you moron

Personally I feel that he is underrated and that his languid style belies his commitment and leads some to think that he is lazy !

His first full season has been in a poor team with strange management decisions surrounding him !

It would not surprise me to see him become a fairly big star one day !

I would hold out for a sizeable fee for sure !

Is it some sort of chav appreciation from our chav fans? I guess he's their idol really, getting paid loads for being a lazy ***** with a huge attitude problem.

Most stupid comment on here ever, and thats going some.

I don't think he is far too good for League one, but can see why a championship club would want him! He will be a very good player imo for that league. I don't see how that many people can say he was poor last season??? He looked lazy at the start of the season, but in the second half of the season was one of our better players, consistently.

Far too good for league one, despite what many of you think.

There is no way he is too good for League 1.

He probably THINKS he is but until he gets either a decent work ethic or develops the skills of a Le Tissier he is not too good.

He ISN'T good enough for the Premier League either.....but if he improves his attitude he may be one day.

There's a good chance that this is true. We tried to get him permanantly before he went out on loan to Port Vale, and we do have a policy of 'putting the Nottingham back into Nottingham Forest,' etc.

His finishing might be poor - the one he missed in the last game of the season was shocking! - but what's his overall game like? Is he any good at holding up the ball?

He's a Nottingham lad

I know he played for Notts County, but there's every chance he grew up as a Forest fan, in which case it makes our hopes of keeping him slim

Incorrect. He's a Liverpool fan. I remember him saying it on an interview on saintstv.

Liverpool won't be looking to sign him though sadly. Maybe Tranmere.

Also i think he probably is too good for League 1...not far too good though

This. Particularly considering he played half the season without a strike partner and the other half in central midfield.

didn't he have more shots than any other player? Someone must have created something.

I hope we keep the lad (partly because his replacement will be worse - they alwasy are when you slip down the leagues) because he has a great first touch and offers something a little different. I backed him on here last season against a tidal wave of abuse, but even I have to acknowledge the fact that he is lazy.

No, he's not a 'back to goal' striker. Not physically strong enough. Needs the ball in front of him whcih is why he improved when we dropped him back to attacking midfield.

First half of the season we played him as a lone striker and he was awful. Very very poor.

But then second half he was played either as second striker playing just off the first or as a attacking midfielder and he was much better - he is a creative player not a battering ram.

Personally I think that the perception that he was lazy was because he was completely isolated up front on his own. When playing in a better system he hasn't really seemed lazy at all.

Finishing is mixed - scores some crackers and misses some sitters! Will be a very good player in the years to come I think

Is this the start of things to come.We need new owners quickly or the players will disappear one by one, well, the half decent ones will.Feels odd talking about loosing players when we have no-idea if we'll end up with a football club.

I might be wrong but I thought no one could be sold or purchased whilst we are in admin.

Thats makes you... oh.

It works on many levels...

It's frustrating that some can't get past the fact that McGoldrick was sh:t as a lone striker but that doesn't mean he's a sh:t player. In fact in the withdrawn forward role he's really pretty good...

the anti comments are so similar to the nonsense we have had over so many players.DMG will go and do well another team and in a few years time there wil be fans say9ing 'if only we had kept him'

i agree with you, seeing it was his first season and was still learning his trade.

i think he did well and hope we keep him, because i think hes going to a be good player for us.

Never rated DMG, never will.

Has the odd nice skill but that does not make up for the conrete boots, the inability to pass to one of his own consistently, and his complete lack of judgement on reading the flight of a ball.

how many times when playing upfront as the target man, did he jump under the ball.

Can;t fault his effort those last few months though.

I agree with you. Yes , he missed too many chances, but poor 'managerial' tactics were much to blame. Had we had a half-better coach than the hapless Poortvliet who played him upfront alone in front of a midfield that could hardly get above the half-way line, his goal tally would have been much better imho.

McG is not a leader. He needs to be beside a play-maker that can work him. He has the tough build to survive League 1. Besides he is the best we have got. And I see no chance that we can avoid relegation in League 1 without him, because I don't see anyone else that we have who can score at least 10 goals next season.

he won of defensive headers. It must be down to the delivery. He is only 21 and has a little more time to blossom

His girlfriend and 1 year old kid still live in Nottingham which has left David feeling lost without them.

He was told that he will need to knuckle down at Xmas if he wanted a club to snap him up after he asked for a move.

I'm sorry but the stick he got is very undeserved.

It was his first season playing regularly in a POOR side and he still managed to score goals. And yes he was played in the wrong system, despite him looking like a big strong player he isn't, he's been used as an attacking midfeilder in the academy system and played in a 4-4-2 not as a lone striker.

In your first season scoring 15 odd goals is a good achievement. How do you know how much money he gets paid? frankly I wouldn't call him lazy when he played less isolated he was winning tackles and constantly running, just some people were too proud to change their opinion of him.

He's also very good creativily and yes he had chances but he obviously had talent to get into the positions to have the chances, what about the great goals he scored this season?

Lets face it I'd rate him at 700k and he is too good for league one, not by much but if he's in our team next season he'll get 20+ goals. We should do our best to hold onto him if we get the takeover.

Good scoring record from a midfielder.

That is IMO where he will play his best football and the position in which he will develop better. When he played for Port Vale he played MF i believe and believe he got fans player of season ?? Maybe wrong.

However he is a good player, will get better and i thought looked good. Does not help when you can't create anything to play a player on his own up front in an un-familiar role.

And yes, the only reason i like him is because of my affinity towards tracksuit bottoms tucked in socks.

He ploughed a lone furrow for most of the season - and was n't that experienced when he got put in. Potentially he would be a twenty five plus hit man in league one. Our massive problem last season was goalscoring. So offing one of the few we have won't be a great start..... unless we are getting owen and rooney on loan!

release BWPand keep DMG. In the long term it will make us more money for future building.

I suspect it kind of depends on what DMG wants himself, which is probably 'out'. Player power and all that. I expect we'll keep the thief, who is probably salivating at having a whole new changing room full of League 1 wallets to choose from. Personally, I think something will happen in the next....
