Gillingham Next Year.

Shrews keeper looked a prospect, and that Holt bloke up front - slow cumbersome lump with a brain. Too good for us I expect

Gills showed how to play fast passing football with kids. That hurt watching it done properly

Shrews keeper is on loan from West Brom. Think we can do far better than Holt. I would like us to look at Simon King....the Gills centre back and their player of the season. Looks a real prospect as does Simeon Jackson.

You're not going to watch saints next year then? ;)

Funnily enough I was based in Chatham Barracks about 1967 and watched Gillingham quite regularly..So in a way it will be completing the circle....I wonder if any of the girls in my old local pubs will be there....Zimmer frames and all.

when is realism going to kick in we are in the same division as them , potless , why will they want to come here.

imo the only way out for us is to find our own non league stars

Been to Gillingham before a few years back for league cup game, would of been nice to of gone to shrewsbury's new ground having been to there old ground for a dreadful league cup game during the branfoot regime.

Agree with you there mate.

Have to get together for a beer and an away day next year if you are up for it? It has been far to long! :)

You should have more respect for your senior citizens...Rest assured we can still do it and if they can remember they will be there waiting with bated breath:rolleyes: I might even use my mobility scooter to get into watch the mighty Saints ringside whilst I am in Gillingham.Even at my age I might get a game.

Shocking thing is that having been the highest placed team in the south a few years ago, we will start next season as one of the lowest placed league teams in the south (assuming we are still in the league of course!) Ranked ahead of us (and ignoring the clubs in London or further north than London) will be:

P*mpey, Reading, Bristol City, Plymouth, Bristol Rovers, Swindon, Brighton, Yeovil, Exeter, Wycombe and now also Gillingham.

(nb based on league position at the end of this season and our starting position for next season, plus I include Swindon and Wycombe on the basis that while they are further north than central London, there are parts of London that are further north than them!)

F*ck sake, another game that I won't be able to get completely smashed at!

Carlisle - Have 6 of my family with STH's

Wycombe - 4 of my cousins STH's

Leyton Orient - 2 Uncles STH's

Swindon - Cousin is Assistant Manager of Swindon Town

Gillingham - Have always promised my two boys who live in Canterbury that I would take them there if Saints ever played them.

That's five games where I will have to be responsible and not drink to my normal levels! F*cking hell. Gutted! :-(

We will have a trip to the priestfield next season. They just beat shrewsbury 1-0 with a 90th minute winner.

.....and... just for the record......the last time we played Goillingham in a

LEAGUE match was .......in (wait for it) ...1957/58 in Div.3 South.

They finished in the bottom 3 (no relegation in those days) but the following season turned up in the " newly-established " Division 4 -which eliminated the

geographical factor of Div.3 South and North.

With looming energy crisis etc, maybe an idea to revamp that; energy-saving

shorter trips to away games ( not Carlisle again !)...and help the economy of smaller clubs (like us)!

(think we've played Gills in some cup competition since (?) - unsure.)

Hope "buster" crabbe is guest of honour should we be able to fulfill the fixture.

Also. Was John Sharpe a Saints and Gills man?

I have to mention Dave Peach (great player), here is a little bit of background to my love of the man.

I began watching The Gills the season after they were relegated to Div 4, I was just a kid and didn't understand anything about the game. I went with my big brother and just loved the whole experience, from singing Molly Malone to running on the pitch EVERY time we scored at the Rainham End.

Most Gills fans were probably still reeling from the relegation but I was the new blood and what had happened previously was of no concern to me. I fell in love with football, and one of the players that I fell in lve with was Dave Peach.

3 years later they won promotion, but during that season he was sold to Saints. According to Wiki, Ted Bates had just put Lawrie in charge and his first buy was Dave Peach. His debut was a 7-0 drubbing at Ipswich, which brings me onto one of the sweetest moments for Gills fans from Saturdays final.

Earlier in this season Gills had been thumped 7-0 by Shrewsbury and a small section of their supporters were singing about it. Anyway, whilst walking out of the stadium, someone started singing "you can stick your 7 golas up your arse..." it was a sweet moment, although if I am honest, the whole day was full of great moments which will hopefully live with me and the small crowd of us that drove up for years to come.

Dave Peach = Double Legend.

Just seen on the ITV highlights when Gillingham were picking up the trophy the commentator said - "And now they can begin planning their trips to Southampton, Norwich and Leeds..."

We are obviously the biggest club in League One ;)

Most of the clubs in League 1 are excited by the fact that they are going to be visiting grounds like St Mary's, Carrow Rd and the Valley next season (it's a big deal for a lot of the players in this league). They are also looking forward to all of us visiting them for the amount of fans we'll all take.
