SaintRichmond Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 How come ... compared to Saints ... Notts County have attracted "Big" Investment from a Middle East Source Portsmouth have attracted "Big" Investment from a Middle East Source Saints have attracted ...... What ??? ..... Pinnacle ??? ..... Details yet unknown ........ and still not a done deal OK, I know Pompey are still Prem, but, be honest, they are in Debt big time, and I cannot imagine the Sheikh to have been too impressed with the 21st Century Stadium ...... but for Notts County to (apparently) attract such a deal, whilst Saints have been struggling to get a decent offer, is something I really do not understand
Matthew Le God Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 The backer for Saints deal is worth "several hundred million". OK we don't know how much he will invest, but Tony Lynham has said it will be "sustained investment" with a "5 year plan to get back to the Premiership". Its just words at the moment but its not as bad as you make out(I hope based on what Tony has said).
PaulSaint Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 (edited) In the past we were hard to purchase because of stubborn old Rupert (never likely to accept a fair price) and his complicated old plc structure, that put investors off? We also have a Premiership infrastructure but with a 3rd division income, the sums weer hard to add up? Good luck Pinnacle & Co, you were brave & we owe you a big debt of gratitude! Edited 6 June, 2009 by PaulSaint Forgot to thank Pinnacle

I'm not saying Pinnacle is a bad deal, or a good deal .... because, like everyone else, I do not know the details ..... thats the problem ..... there are NO details to know It just seems (to me) that SFC has been made such a Big Bag Of Worms over the past circa Twelve Years, that most people won't come near us with the proverbial Barge Pole I simply find it exasperating to say the least, when I read of other Clubs having a relatively straighter run at relaunching themselves than we are. damers Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 Im glad our prospective new owner seems to be doing things professionally and not shouting his mouth off about a deal that has yet to be finalised unlike the other two seem to be doing... although it is frustrating not knowing anything..... Colinjb Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 The Notts County takeover made me laugh, but I can actually understand why they would be taken over. Bwanamakubwa Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 There have been many takeovers that appear to have huge cash injections, or dawns of a new era that have turned out not quite as they first appear... The biscuit man at West Ham F1 at QPR Even Liverpool are looking in a spot of bother. The guys who took over Coventry There are many many more So takeovers may not be what they seem. The clown at Portsmouth is the same guy that stood in front of the cameras saying he was going to buy Torres, Gerrard and god knows who else. He was quickly moved out of the limelight as he clearly was just a guy of low intellect. We will just have to wait and see.

Whoever it is will only be budgeting so much of that 'several hundred million' anyway. I'm happy that there is someone willing to buy the club and move us on. What Poopey or any other club do is of no real interest to me at this time. Let's get stable and improving before we ask too much.

(In fact, they're a defining feature of Sufism). Unfortunately, the oil happened to be under the feet of a narrow, unpopular sect founded by a violent misogynist, whose followers were driven out of Mecca, Medina and the Arabian Peninsula by the Ottomans, and who were put back into power by Lawrence of Arabia. Perhaps if we kept our nickname we'd avoid being taken over by the descendants of these charmers! Always look on the bright side...

He certainly looked very shifty & downright uncomfortable when paraded in front of the South Today (showing my age) camera. True he was trying a seat in a rotting shed but the body language was not of a happy prospective owner. Dicko Posted 6 June, 2009 Share Posted 6 June, 2009 The takeover of Notts County is a fairly shrewd one They are a very old, famous club - founder members of both the 'Football League' in 1888, and the 'Premier League' in 1992 They have little debt, a decent stadium, and for a lower league club, reasonable support Could be an opportunity to make a fortune if they make it to CCC

The real question would have been what we would have felt IF there had been a takeover by some of them lot in that big place next door while we were still solvent before the crash.... 30mil to buy us and a budget to get back into UEFA cup in 4 years worth 100+ mil...
