Oh come on, it's just like waiting for the Gas/Plumber/Electric/delivery man to come round.... they'll be there in the morning.... You KNOW deep down he's coming, but you ran out of milk and want a cup of tea You know what always happens when you pop out to get that pint.. Toomer Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 (edited) Toomer could always move to Midsommer. And you could always keep your glib comments to yourself. There is no chance of my ST money being used if she we wants three holidays this year we can afford to do both. B******s!:-) Some of us even play. I'd agree with the OP though. Our season finished late last week due to bad weather this winter. No football, no twice a week training, no 2/3 times a week skiing, teaching finishes next week. I'm not so keen on the summer. Anybody know of any yacht crewing vacancies this summer? Watch leading experience, blah blah...
Wes Tender Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 ...is away in the Far East for the next three weeks, so apart from missing the conclusion of the takeover, which I hope will be seamless and uneventful, I look forward also to discussing the new manager and players. Professor Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 Mike was so right to start this thread but its worse than boredom, because of total uncertainty about chairman, board, manager, and an inadequate squad that may be weakened before, or even if, it is strengthened. Third division football for the first time in nearly half a century, and a -10 point start that suggests the season is a write-off even before it begins. Pre-season optimism usually lasts until September, but this year it hasn't even got out of bed. I hope I'm wrong, and I'm glad that like Wes, the Professor will be travelling. For those taking early holidays, lets enjoy the distraction and hope that we have something better to talk about by August.

Optimism will awake when MLT is appointed chairman, the backer of Pinacle is announced and a well-respected manager appointed who will start to rebuild the team. So, 2 weeks or so? I have just been away on a stag weekend - got back to check the OS and here for news and what is there? A big fat nothing - not even a decent rumour. And to cap it all, I am expecting to be severely underwhelmed when deal is done and the pre-season actually starts. I just have a feeling it will all be done on the cheap still and little or no ambition will be shown. Here's hoping for some news soon.

Dalek2003 Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 Its not like the old days. I remember in the 90's in our epic relegation struggles when the close season was the best season ! Dalek2003 Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 What we would not give now to be fighting relegation from the premiership Or indeed enjoying our break after an exhaustive escape and worrying about the next campaign before it even started. One thing for sure, the fact that we were also tipped to go down and ridiculed by others helped the whole club and supporters to act at one with the satisfaction of confounding our critics time and time again. we seem to have lost that in recent years. Did we get too complacent towards the end of the WGS years ?
