  1. Atletico Madrid. Just won La Liga and came within a couple of minutes of added time of winning the Champions League too. Players linked to moves so far (to Premier League big boys and elsewhere): Diego Costa, Miranda, Juanfran, Koke, Gabi, David Silva... have I missed anyone? They will lose maybe three of them, pick themselves up, make a couple of good buys, bring on a couple of kids, and go again. No reason why we can't do the same. (Although it will still be heartbreaking to read the caption on the telly 'Rickie Lambert (Liverpool)' when he comes on after 77 minutes against Italy and then scores... Just stay until July 15th, Rickie, it's a sentimental thing.)
  2. Good post. Agree with pretty much all of this although my preference would be Koeman first, with Rosler as the wild card.
  3. Yeah I really like Koeman. Just what we need. If we're lowering our sights (hope we're not) to the English lower leagues, not Eddie Howe. Ever. I'd go for Uwe Rosler.
  4. The difference is weren't in the Premier League or anywhere near it when Oxo wanted to go.
  5. As a far-flung fan, definitely. I know those who have had more dealings with him have a different opinion. I just think he may have been a b*astard, but he was our b*astard. Let's hope Kat'n'Ralph can deliver.
  6. I'd like to see Cortese alongside Big Vic patrolling the space in front of our back four. No other team would dare attack us. Ever. Fact.
  7. And a shout out for JayRod as well. I don't think we would have had four, but he'd have been on standby at the least.
  8. It will always be the Bristol Rovers goal for me. And look what happened to them this weekend. Thanks, Guly.
  9. We've gone to the beach, we've gone to the be-ee-each. We are Southampton, we've gone to the beach.
  10. At this rate, we could finish 10th... COme on lads, this lot are so poor.
  11. He has to score there. Guess he'll learn.
  12. We should be three nil up already.
  13. Come on chaps, a European tour would be a massive massive laugh - and even if we slid a couple of places as a result I doubt it would get us relegated. Southern Moldova on a wet Thursday night in November? What's not to like.
  14. Let's hope, then, that Calum notices that we won at Anfield whereas Arsenal just got d1cked 5-1. I do hope this team doesn't get broken up in the summer. Come on lads, give us another couple of years!
  15. Agreed. And the best bit is that they're good enough. More than good enough. Just add Messi and we'll be sorted.
  16. Sorry - Gaston already here of course, but the point is the same. Four biggest signings maybe?
  17. Well of our four big signings last summer three are out injured now (Vic back soon) and Johnny Depp suspended. That's pretty bad luck by any standards. The new names that have come up through the ranks - Chambers and JWP - certainly haven't let us down, but is it realistic to expect a couple of others to emerge in the same season - Stephens, Gallagher...? Not really. I think a couple of loans or buys would be ideal, but for all the smiles Katharina has promised she's said nothing about looking to strengthen the squad. Here's hoping...
  18. I heard Jose was pulling his ponytail too.
  19. The day is getting better and better. And the blue few down the road are in such a sorry state that the government has appointed a Minister for Portsmouth. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/jan/16/vince-cable-pm-minister-portsmouth-tokenism
  20. Ride into the Sun by Nico
  21. Seeing as we started without 6 of what i'd have as our first eleven, effing good point. Need a couple of wins now, but more tough games to come. COYR.
  22. That was ****ing superb in the cicumstances! 1 point out of 12 doesn't look pretty, but a team ending up with four academy product English teenagers on the pitch just got a draw with the best squad in the country, and probably should have won. COYR
  23. JWP has been the revelation of our season so far. Superb.
  24. The night games most of all - real magic. Anderlecht in the Cup Winners Cup and for some reason my clearest memory: standing packed like sardines on the Archers v Man City in the League Cup quarter final in 78-9 and being lifted clean off my feet and carried 12 rows forward when we (was it Phil Boyer?) scored our second. And finally not having a ticket for the semi-final second leg and trying to climb a tree outside the Archers when Terry Curran scored and falling out of the tree in excitement... Great days.
