Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions
LaptopSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Dear God, I'm glad some of the posters on here weren't fighting in the trenches for us in 1916 or flying Spitfires over the Kent coast in 1940. Man up, for pity's sake, and see you at SMS next Saturday. -
Apart from the stupid challenge to give Utd the free kick and second goal, thought J-Rod did really well at OT. And I just have a hunch that he'll be well up for it as a Burnley boy on his return to the north-west. Him, Adam and Gaston behind Rickie with Punch to come on if needed.
-
If that second half is the new Pochettino pressing style it's going to be ****ing brilliant. Great second half, if we'd had our shooting boots with us we'd have had a point at least. Well played lads.

Jay Rod - stoopid

Great article. Loved him from the moment he arrived - class and getting better.

Loved him in L1. Love him now. Wenger will bid in the summer. Hope we have the balls to say do one.

Boruc. That is all. -

Why will that shatter our confidence? Most teams in the Premier League would have been hammered by Chelsea playing like that. Some days the other team are just better - usually when they've spent about three hundred million on players. -

At least Boruc is getting a decent workout... Get Rickie, Gaston and hoepfully Clyne back for Villa, and Corkie back into centre mid. Sorted. Worried about Jose though. -

Compared to 6-1 earlier in the season, effing brilliant. Shows just how far our back four - and Nige - have come. -
Gutted not to get all three, but it's a good point. And after our nightmare start to the season, I hope current form carries us to safety (best of the bottom eight). I think it will - just. Form table (last 8 matches) P W D L Pts 1 Manchester Utd 8 7 1 0 22 2 Tottenham 8 6 1 1 19 3 Stoke City 8 4 4 0 16 4 Arsenal 8 4 3 1 15 5 Manchester City 8 4 2 2 14 6 Liverpool 8 4 1 3 13 7 Everton 8 3 4 1 13 8 Chelsea 8 3 3 2 12 9 Southampton 8 3 3 2 12 10 Swansea City 8 3 3 2 12 11 Norwich City 8 3 2 3 11 12 Sunderland 8 3 1 4 10 13 West Bromwich 8 3 1 4 10 14 Aston Villa 8 2 3 3 9 15 Wigan Athletic 8 2 1 5 7 16 Newcastle Utd 8 2 0 6 6 17 QP Rangers 8 1 3 4 6 18 West Ham Utd 8 1 2 5 5 19 Fulham 8 1 2 5 5 20 Reading 8 1 1 6 4

Agreed. Kenwyne Jones running the length of the pitch and doing a swallow dive in front of the Northam would give us something to get our teeth into.
-
No. No-one else will do any better with our defence. Get Gaston fit, and unearth the next Michael Svensson from an obscure foreign league at Christmas.
-
Gaston would have had a field day to be fair - Fulham were awful.
-
Rescued a point, but if another team comes to SMS this season and plays that badly we really have to take all three. Pity Rickie didn't have his shooting boots on firs half today.
-
One of the unanswered questions about Atkins was what would he do when he had some serious money to spend. Yoshida - tick Clyne - tick Ramirez - double tick Gazza, JayRod, Mayuda - great potential Well done Nige. Great win.
-
Ramirez is going to open up a lot of defences this season. Lovely jubbly. COYR

It's all about opinions isn't it, but mine is that JRod is head and shoulders above Hooper. My Burnley supporting mate says he's genuine class and the best player he's seen in a Burnley shirt for 20 years - although admittedly they've been sh1t for much of that time . My only fear about the deal is that he's a real home boy and it may be that he'd much rather stay in the north-west and if someone else comes in he'd take it. But if that is the case, then it's probably better we don't sign him in the first place.

French Africa - Southampton after a slice
LaptopSaint replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
And East Africa used to be British - ie Kenya, Tanzania. French-speaking is West Africa - Ivory Coast etc. Les might want to invest in an atlas. -
This is a very fair point. A lot of people were saying Adkins hadn't been tested in the transfer market, did he have what it takes to find those to push us on. Apart from that brown paper bag he must have received from Iago Falque's Dad, he got it spot on with the three mentioned above. They can all play a role next season too.
-
And a little bit more Schadenfreude - if we fail to go up I'll look back on that Norris 95th minute freakshow, and the image of our defence and midfield frozen to the spot watching him, as the turning point. Not so nice when the boot's on the other foot. As we're going to beat Coventry 3-0 it doesn't matter though.
-
OK, now I know you're just taking the p1ss. Makes your life a little sad, but at least I understand. Don't care what happened to Pompey today. Makes no difference. Only care about Saints. It'll take some strong personalities to get the job done next week - Morgan, Rickie, Jos, Billy, Adam (and the rest)... this is your time.
