In other news, we are definitely going to finish fourth, as we only have to surpass at least one of the likes of Chelsea, Man Utd and Spurs over a 38 game league season.
-
Previous seasons we have been trying to get promoted or to stay up.
-
The League cup is utterly beneath the European megapower we now are, so who gives a sh it? Not me.
-
Brilliant! Sam Gallagher's come on. Who is he? (Please score)
-
Sounds like we're going to do them anyway.
-
It's on five live sports extra tonight if anyone's interested.
-
Little masterclass in professional Delldays-ing going on right now.
-
Disappointing line up but, hey, we might win anyway, and progress in this competition that is utterly beneath us.
-
It's almost like five years have elapsed. Those clubs in due course have been replaced by the likes of Coventry and Sheff Utd. Anyway we were the luckiest of all clubs in those circumstances and we still had to spend two whole seasons in flipping League one.
-
Hang on. Just digging up a thread from 2007 to prove that you have. Bear with me...

Do Groundhog Day!

Purists would use the "on" at the end.
-
So I want us to win one competition and you want us to win none.
-
I don't think we should be winning multiple competitions. Just the league cup would be grand. Haven't you seen us this season? We're really good.
-
Now that is a comeback I am happy with.....Troosers really wasted his "Speshul CB Fry noocleer weapon" uberquote when there was a league title shaped open top bus you could drive through my argument ready to go. Nice one Bearsy. Although, winning the tin pot cup didn't seem to cripple Chelsea as some seem to think it will demolish us.

Have a medal. I stand by that all day long. One should never wish for administration, and we have no idea what may have happened had we survived anyway... Not sure why you'very waited until this precise moment to drop that gem, but I'll presume you had a full bore bonk on when you did it. Run along and finish yerself off, now.

Chelsea's first trophy of the Mourinho/Roman era? Any guesses? Go on, have a guess. Needless to say the League Cup is not small time enough for a club owned by a multibillionaire and managed by the arguably the greatest manager of our generation. But yeah, too small for the European Megagiant in waiting, Southampton FC. Utter planks on this forum. Utter planks.

My ambition for the club is to win a trophy. Not finish seventh place, with a hope of finishing fourth place...which, lets remember, is winning eff all. Nothing. No major trophy for thirty years and no ambitions to win one. Great. My ambitions beat the Chairman.
-
....we've finished second-to-eighth place plenty of times before but you seem to be creaming yourself over a match against Hull that may ultimately result in us finishing in, say, seventh place. Amazing. Book the open top bus. Woo-hoo. I'd take a cup win all day long.
-
If Liverpool and Arsenal "can fade" then I think we can too.
-
I'd suggest that wasn't one of the "top pick" games Jake Humphrey keeps banging on about on the BT ads.
-
I think there's a call for you over on the "arrogance" thread. You do realise every place in the league table that isn't first place is a "consolation" too? Whoop whoop seventh consolation place = Saints still have won eff all for thirty years. Whoop whoop.
-
It's a sad day when a dime-a-dozen nondescript league game against (wait for it) Hull City is regarded as more of a priority than the club pursuing only its second major trophy of the modern era. Some of you lot are effing nuts.

Pap: works for UK government/secret service. Role unclear.

Nah, that's realism. 5th/6th/7th would be astonishing, and not impossible....Pardew's Newcastle managed 5th only last year. But 8th feels about right to me and would be a fine achievement. We should be going for the League Cup alongside it IMO.
