Wrong. Cortese said it, quoted, in, I think, early September. Might have been late August.
-
Cortese expected us to win the league last season. The idea that Adkins acheived anything "early" is simply wrong.
-
You honestly think normal people have a "preferred" way of buying a football programme? I know its an unfair question to ask you, as you don't qualify as normal to any extent. But have a go.
-
The first rule of the Cult of Cortese is eye watering disengenuousness must be used to justify any decision. So Frank you are actually saying that when you got laid off if you had just got a letter through the door with no warning you would have felt exactly the same as being sat down and spoken to as part of a formal consultation period? Because when I got laid off I would be significantly more fu cked off if that had happened rather than what I did get which was explanation, thanks and empathy. But then I am not bending over backwards making ludicrous points to justify my defence of an appaling piece of contempt for human resources by the club. Well done though.

No one is moaning about the attendences per se. You have to remember thus forum has endured a summer with the supposed "visionary" geniuses telling the rest of us we've "maxed out" St Mary's and we need to build thousands more seats and now. We were told there would be a mad scramble for tickets as demand massively outstrips our tiny little stadium. We were told thousands of brand new Saints fans would come to SMS from Wiltshire, Devon and Kent. We were told thousands more would come as neutrals, just coming from miles around to watch Premier League football. And we were told not buying into this utter horse-sh it meant you were negative, anti-Saints and wanted the manager sacked. These threads are related to that moronic garbage spouted over the summer. Don't know about you but I am not convinced we have seen a dramatic increase of neutral fans from the Somerset area coming to the stadium to watch just any old Premier League game. But then, I'm just anti-Saints.
-
Your thoughts are typical of the negative, Dell sized mentality on this forum. The enlightened ones, the visionaries, know we have maxed out our stadium and we could definitely sell 45,000 against Villa dynamically priced at ten pound a pop. With kids for a quid. And we don't do debt as we are bankrolled by billionaires so thankfully it is all risk free. You need vision, son, like the intelligent posters on this forum. Build it now. FFS.

Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone that three years ago we were literally two hours and ten minutes away from being officially wound up and liquidised and we were bottom of league one and everything and stuff and that. Therefore, this news is fantastic and well done all involved.

Some Tweets Saying We Have Borrowed Against Future Season Ticket Sales
CB Fry replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Is it a good thing to effectively spend four years worth of parachute payments in one transfer window? I thought parachute payments were supposed to be there to aid the descent into the lower league. Like a parachute. Not to borrow against. -

So, just to confirm, all those people smugly and rabidly parrotting through the summer that "we don't do debt/we are now run debt free" are actually quite happy that we have debt again and debt is fine and not all debt is bad and is just part of business. Just checking. -

Don't worry. The sacred texts are being rewritten. First line is "You people need to get real, not all debt is bad." Second line is something about Cortese debt actually being better than free money and don't you remember where we were three years ago or something. -

The rational explanation is we need more money than we currently have to hand to spend on new players, a new training ground, Premier League wages and a fifty thousand seat stadium we are absolutely desperate for. -

That's because you're only ever about ten posts away from a reminder on here. I felt it was my turn to chip in. -

Can I just take this opportunity to remind everyone who has forgotten that three years ago we were literally thirty five minutes away from definitely going out of business forever and we were bottom of league one and everything and stuff. -
When we started this season, what exactly were you expecting?
CB Fry replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
I expected five points by now, winning one of Villa/Wigan drawing the other leaving one point from the four others. It's not uncommon for the big teams to drop points early in the season, and to drop them to new teams playing out of their skins is also not uncommon. And let's calm down about Everton. They've suddenly become world beaters? Traditionally they start terribly so expecting a possible point from them at the start of the season not that unreasonable. I guess we'll now be lumping Fulham in with the Champion's League contenders now because they've had a good start? So I expected five, we got three. So far, not bad. We only need to win ten more games and we're safe so perfectly calm for now. -
Les Reed won't ever be manager, save for a couple of games as caretaker. Although if is Reed is appointed it will be hilarious to see the Cult of Cortese defend it as a masterstroke.

Provide a link to a thread started tonight on this forum? How about you just look for it.
-
Go and read tonight's one doing the "remember we were in League One two years ago guys" routine then. Stirring stuff.
-
It's not e-booing though is it. It's e-having a grumble at half time which is what fans do at matches up and down the land. This forum does not impact the team. Ever. Ever.
-
Thank god for this thread. I'd completely forgotten we were ever in League One and was happily convinced we are a elite Premier League club with a divine right to win every game. Thanks for putting me straight.
-
Two things. We weren't "days from extinction" and never were. And two, when has MLT said anything resembling "hang em/flog em" about the "manager, team, players" recently? He's very supportive of all three.

Reads like the history of the Saints written by a dutch teenager. On crack.

We should be going for it. I'd take the cup over four or five league places, as long as we stay up. Winning a cup is actually exciting. Finishing, say, eleventh, isn't.
