No one is moaning about the attendences per se. You have to remember thus forum has endured a summer with the supposed "visionary" geniuses telling the rest of us we've "maxed out" St Mary's and we need to build thousands more seats and now. We were told there would be a mad scramble for tickets as demand massively outstrips our tiny little stadium. We were told thousands of brand new Saints fans would come to SMS from Wiltshire, Devon and Kent. We were told thousands more would come as neutrals, just coming from miles around to watch Premier League football. And we were told not buying into this utter horse-sh it meant you were negative, anti-Saints and wanted the manager sacked. These threads are related to that moronic garbage spouted over the summer. Don't know about you but I am not convinced we have seen a dramatic increase of neutral fans from the Somerset area coming to the stadium to watch just any old Premier League game. But then, I'm just anti-Saints.

Your thoughts are typical of the negative, Dell sized mentality on this forum. Can I take this opportunity to remind everyone that three years ago we were literally two hours and ten minutes away from being officially wound up and liquidised and we were bottom of league one and everything and stuff and that. Therefore, this news is fantastic and well done all involved.

Is it a good thing to effectively spend four years worth of parachute payments in one transfer window? I thought parachute payments were supposed to be there to aid the descent into the lower league. Like a parachute. Not to borrow against.

So, just to confirm, all those people smugly and rabidly parrotting through the summer that "we don't do debt/we are now run debt free" are actually quite happy that we have debt again and debt is fine and not all debt is bad and is just part of business. Just checking.

Don't worry. The sacred texts are being rewritten. First line is "You people need to get real, not all debt is bad." Second line is something about Cortese debt actually being better than free money and don't you remember where we were three years ago or something.

I expected five points by now, winning one of Villa/Wigan drawing the other leaving one point from the four others. It's not uncommon for the big teams to drop points early in the season, and to drop them to new teams playing out of their skins is also not uncommon. And let's calm down about Everton. They've suddenly become world beaters? Traditionally they start terribly so expecting a possible point from them at the start of the season not that unreasonable. I guess we'll now be lumping Fulham in with the Champion's League contenders now because they've had a good start? So I expected five, we got three. So far, not bad. We only need to win ten more games and we're safe so perfectly calm for now.

Les Reed won't ever be manager, save for a couple of games as caretaker. Although if is Reed is appointed it will be hilarious to see the Cult of Cortese defend it as a masterstroke.
