  1. I prefer to go back to The Dell days: Romsey Old Boys Band...
  2. Actually, I've found a new local pub in the next village showing footie, and the last three games I watched there (all in one week) were all wins, including away at Man Utd. Now I don't expect a win but hope springs eternal..
  3. I'm a reasonable skier - off-piste and all that, but the only time I've been cross-country skiing on those skinny little things not attached at the heel I fell 4 times, including some right head-over-heels purlers and with ice-skating I've had a few bruised buttocks. Still, no injuries, and just that shot of Graziano killing himself laughing makes me think it's been worthwhile for the team building aspect.
  4. Not long in from football training and just checked the result, then came straight on here to join the general merriment and add to the general laughter. I know schadenfreude can be a negative thing, but this is rather enjoyable...
  5. First time I've been on here since the game, and just watched the video highlights.. Hmmm, 4 potential penalties and not one given? The first you might argue about, although what was that hand doing up there on his shoulder? Number 2 no doubt at all, and the 3rd and 4th the sort that we'd be unhappy if given against us. Lovren's tackle was nastier than it looked at the time too. Miserable result, miserable weather and our women's match was abandoned earlier in the day 5 minutes after I came on as sub. Miserable.
  6. What have Citeh and Pompey got in common? Both 2-0 down at home..
  7. It wasn't meant to be a open top bus parade.. http://travel.aol.co.uk/2013/01/29/double-decker-bus-roof-ripped-off-railway-bridge-crash-hampshire/
  8. Will the women's toilets be working by then? I know Woody and his missus, and could have a chance of tickets..
  9. What a shame. Portsmouth miss a penalty..
  10. Here I am in bed waiting.. Hmm, perhaps I ought to rephrase that! Still, a chuckle to look forward to in the morning, I have no doubt..
  11. Good summary, dodd.. Long causes problems for other teams, he's an awkward bu**er. Osvaldo - coglione!
  12. Frustrated, disappointed but not depressed. Although I had the slight worry of any long term Saints fan that WH would get something on the break, that soon went. Our defence and midfield, even with enforced changes, seems to get better by the game. Harry Reed also seems to be improving every time I see him. I reckon JWP only came on for fresh legs and the potential of a free kick around the box. But yes, our resources in attack don't have the depth of the _financial_ big boys, even if we are up there with, or above, them. But with Long, Rodriguez and Gallagher all out injured I can see why we wouldn't buy just at the moment. We would need to get somebody better, who is available, wants to come to us (Osvaldo??!), who we can afford, and whose club is willing to sell. So I'm not one of the simplistic "we should have bought another striker" school of thought, even if we do need one. I just hope Pelle is allowed a few days off, back to mum's home cooking, and then a return refreshed and ready for the fray. When all is said and done, we are still fourth. We may well slip a place or two, but to read some on here you'd thing that rapid descent down the table was a foregone conclusion. In the meantime I'm still allowing myself a chuckle at BFS's pretensions to sophisticated football...
  13. Particularly those who play amateur football on a Sunday..
  14. The Edge would be better for the women in your group.. The Wetherspoons in Southampton all seem to serve reasonably kept beers, and a changing range, and as you'll be saving yourself £1.50 a pint over normal pub prices it can add up. From then on it really depends on your age and tastes, but Southampton has never been a particularly vibrant city in the nighlife stakes (from my vague memories, that is..).
  15. :-)
  16. ASL? ? Gawd, I remember the 90's and slow modems, and spotty adolescents (I assume) wondering why you got shirty when they popped up on IRC with that question (and nothing else).. Anyways..for what it's worth I shall probably have a pint or two in The Platform, and/or one in The Standing Order on the way there on the basis that saving £1.50ish on a pint is quite attractive at the moment. On the other hand the destination could be The Junction at St. Denys, depending on the consensus of my footie aquaintances. Midweek they'll be no post-match pint for me. Most male Saints fans of my aquaintance are OK, intelligent, and don't get worried that they're never going to get their leg over, but that may be an age related thing. Don't worry Lou.. Pap can be a bit misguided, and I don't think is as fit as Ronaldo but is otherwise sound; Bearsy has a somewhat errant intelligence (judging by his book reviews), and if CBFry frequents pre-match pubs you can kick him in the balls just on principle - but I suspect you won't come across him. Go for it, you've nothing to lose..
  17. .. and they poach carp from your local fishery...
  18. Oh come on Pap. I looked at your link and then at Buctootim's and I really don't think is an appropriate response. As you say, your attitude is impacted by your family ties there, and the responding quote is a reasonable way of replying, in my opinion. If you look at the Hampshire figures, they pretty well follow the size of population, and would be as one might expect given the fact Southampton is a reasonably large port with all that sometimes implies. It depends where you are, but I've never felt particularly threatened in Soton, but then I'm tall, older, reasonably fit and walk fast (even when not usually sober after a match).
  19. I also post when I'm drunk. It's embarassing to see afterwards, isn't it?..
  20. Leicester played well, but there was a certain degree of extra physicality and strength to their play which helped them: I think only Adebayo on our side matched them in that department. Slattery - only 16 - and Sims were rather hustled out of it. Our lads never stopped trying to play football, but sometimes could have done with being more direct and less naive in allowing so much space on the edge of the box. Mind you, Chaudry looked a good player, and it'll be interesting to see if we ever see him in their first team; about time somebody who I presume has some Indian/Pakistani ancestry makes it. Nothing to get depressed about there, certainly. We certainly don't just get players who suceed when they are young purely from their physical advantages and early growth.
  21. , that's more like it!
  22. Thank you all. The above is probably the funniest comment though..
  23. That is a very good and succinct summary, I thank you.
  24. OK guys, I'm back from holiday and with about 16 days worth to read. I've checked the League table and my, it's getting tight down there, but apart from that could somebody post a management summary of events in the last fortnight? Just the highlights, like Saints on match of the day..
  25. I've been away a couple of weeks, so have I missed any more Lovren mistakes?
