You're playing the man not the ball, I doubt many people agree with the political views of the protesters. But our governments have been painfully slow in responding the climate problem and sensible conversations have not worked. What these guys are doing is a pain in the arse for many in London but if it puts climate back on the agenda it has to be a good thing IMO.
-
No it's about setting an example and being world leaders in a technology that is obviously the way forward. The movement towards a greener lifestyle is inevitable.
-
If every country thought like that nothing would ever get done. We should strive to do what's best for the climate regardless of what other countries do.
-
If it’s revised then it’s not the same so it might stand a chance. No way they could push the same deal through. I think the only way anything will get through now is with a condition of a confirmatory vote, too many remainers in the house can smell blood.
-
But the people in Parliament have not changed and neither have the details of the deal. If it was a bad deal for the country then it still is now. An MPs job is to do what they think is best for their constituents and the country, no way will they vote through a deal which they have already said on record is going to be bad for the country.
-
Not sure what the point in dragging that deal up would be, apart from the comedy value of having Boris and his ERG chums block Brexit, again. Parliament pretty much agreed it was "the worst deal in history", no MP is going to openly say that then force it on their people. The only way that would get through if it was with a confirmatory vote clause.

They are right to highlight the urgency of taking action. The science has been accepted by governments around the world but change is just not happening quick enough. Fact is, making tough, unpopular decisions for our long term good is something our democracies are not very good at.

The owner is part of the problem, we certainly were fed a load of bullish!t from Kat. The other part is the fact that Les Reed made such a mess of player recruitment. Being stuck with overpaid rubbish players is a killer for clubs our size unless you’ve got an owner willing to finance a large turnaround of players. Looks like they just want to do the minimum to survive while the sh!te see out their contracts.
-
Our problem is that we are stuck with too many sh!te players and have a skint owner who doesnt invest.

I'm just trying to help. You're the one who said they didn't understand how the medieval warming period could have happened - I just assumed you were forming your opinions from a position of ignorance.
-
I meant scientific papers, not the Daily Mail.
-
Have you tried reading about the science?
-
I don't disagree, but the more attention climate change gets the better IMO.
-
The more I read about the science, the more I think Extinction Rebellion are right. Doing your own little bit helps but real change has to come from our governments.

They would be ****ed if Howe goes, it’s very much a Fergie type situation down there where he controls everything. I’ve heard he would only leave for ‘a big London club’ though.
-
Yes. With this owner we would be ****ed if we go down.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

This, I expect the Lib Dem and Brexit parties will both take a lot of votes of the two ‘main’ parties if there is a GE. I would be amazed if Labour or the Tories got anywhere near a majority. -
Agree with this. We should all be big enough to admit when we have done wrong regardless of how long ago it happened.
-
You are probably right, which is why a second referendum is the obvious way forward.
-
Yep, but the backstop was why it was considered sh!t, and it's the NI border that is causing the issue now.
-
What, the agreement that pretty much everyone said was sh!t?
-
Looks like after three years of internal fighting, time wasting and can-kicking the Tories are focusing on stage managing an outcome that blames everyone else except them.
-
If they choose not to vote then that is their choice, just like any other election. Those in power are representatives of the people doing what they think is best for the country, that's what a parliamentary democracy does. Obviously a second referendum is not ideal, but unless Boris comes back with his "easiest deal in history" and it gets approved I can't see a better way out of the mess. I'm not overly bothered if we leave or not (at the start of this thread I was arguing for leave) but the idea that we need to blindly plough ahead with a no deal, no matter how bad the probable/possible consequences, for the sake of democracy is just complete bullsh!t.
-
Except if the people of the UK still want to leave, they will leave. In a democratic kind of way.
