  1. Really? why would a football game in Sunderland effect one in Newcastle?
  2. You don't think it's fair that if 10% of the population vote for a specific party then they should get 10% of the seats? Surely that is what democracy is all about.
  3. Yeah but the policies that matter, which we generally vote for, are decided on a national level. You could have 10-20% of the public feel strongly about a marginal party and they get no seats whatsoever. I would vote green if my vote counted for anything, but because it wont I vote Lib Dem just because I don't dislike them as much as the Tories. How is s system which gets people voting for parties they don't believe in truly democratic?
  4. Agree, there are so many places in the country where your vote counts for nothing. Where I live it's a straight fight between the Tories and Lib Dems, there is zero point in me bothering except to try to vote tactically to keep the Tories out - not exactly democracy at it's finest.
  5. We were 4th Xmas day 2003 after beating the Skates 3-0.
  6. I never said either of them are poor buys, just put our current success into context. We have spent a sh!t load of cash, Lowe got us to 4th at Xmas on a relative shoestring.
  7. He has to take some credit, but also responsibility for spending £27million on Ramirez and Osvaldo. It's great noshing ourselves off at the moment but it would be fair to remember that Rupert Lowe had us 4th in the Premier League at Christmas one year, and look how that turned out. It would be interesting to compare his net spend with the current lots.
  8. Labour should have kept control of spending better but we would still be in a mess regardless of who was in government. There is no way the Tories would have regulated the banks any more, if anything they would have done less.
  9. An employee/ex employee of the resort is an obvious line of inquiry, they would know the layout of the apartment and how exposed it was. Also, importantly, an employee could also know how kids were often left unattended, this particular group appeared to do it like clockwork.
  10. Can't see why not, it's only for 90 mins once or occasionally twice a week.
  11. No one who has scored 90 Premier League goals could be classed as an inadequate striker.
  12. He will always get a bad reception because he's a c*nt. - - - Updated - - - He will always get a bad reception because he's a c*nt.
  13. It appears they thought the first sighting was most likely the abductor and releasing the e-fit would be distracting. "A source close to the fund said the report would have been ‘completely distracting’ if it had become public." The thing is, if the McCanns had killed their own daughter and Jerry had strolled down the road with her corpse and dumped her in the sea, why would they hire a team of ex-MI5 investigators to find out what happened?
  14. "Smith has since stressed that he does not believe the man he saw was Gerry, and Scotland Yard do not consider this a possibility. Last week the McCanns were told officially by the Portuguese authorities that they are not suspects."
  15. Lovren would be the biggest miss, he has been superb plus I'm not sure Fonte and Yoshida worked as a partnership so him being out could mess up the whole defence. Boruc would also be badly missed but I don't think it would cost us quite as much. If we are to stay in touch with the top 5 we are going to have to be very lucky with injuries that is for sure.
  16. It is odd, I would like to hear the McCanns explain why it was suppressed. I guess they put too much weight into the sighting outside the apartment and only when the MET ruled that out did the other sighting become considered relevant. Also as the bloke who saw her said it was 80% sure it was Gerry McCann, if you were McCann you wouldn't want it released wether you are innocent or guilty.
  17. Overhyped I reckon, nothing much happening here.
  18. This forum is conclusive proof that football fans know jack sh!t about professional football.
  19. Gaston is obviously not fancied by Poch, I wouldn't be surprised if we flogged him in Jan.
  20. I'm with Toure, the Russians are a bunch of c*nts who shouldn't be hosting a World cup. No place for racism in football.
  21. No way would I start Osvaldo over that team tonight.
  22. Has to get a chance for England, very few English midfielders with his skill at the moment.
  23. Has got all the important decisions right, couldn't wish for a better person in charge of our club. It's ****ing great being a saints fan at the moment.
  24. I agree that it should be more elitist, but that should mean the cleverest people. This policy will do the opposite, there will still be plenty of rich kids using uni as an excuse to bum around on some pointless course while potentially better students from less secure backgrounds will choose to do something less worthwhile.
  25. I can see the argument for fees but the fact is if I had to pay what students do now there is no way I would have gone to university. I wasn't from a wealthy background and at that age the idea of getting into debt scared the sh!t out of me. I qualified for a grant, had my fees paid, lived like a scumbag for 3 years but still got into a fair amount of debt by the time I graduated. I just think it's a shame if promising youngsters are put off doing worthwhile professions, I know I would have been.
