  1. I am amazed that no one has mentioned, not a bricks and mortar destination, but more of regular aroma that wafted across the City from Fawley I can't smell Coal Tar soap without thinking of Southampton. Hovercraft landing in Woolston - My Dad use to do plenty of business in the docks, and had some trade in the Hovercraft place that I think now makes wind turbines, always remember when little being in the car with my Mum parked at the top of the landing slipway when a Hovercraft came in my Dad was already out of the car waiting for it to arrive (think they were triailing some glass cleaner) this noisy monster rose up out of the sea and even today I still think it was going to swallow my Dad whole!
  2. Remember seeing him at a Coys historic racing day at Silverstone driving a couple of old Grand Prix cars. Seeing him coming down Vale from Stowe into Club old style racing helmet, googles, sawing away at the big steering wheel with my own eyes was a great moment. RIP Sir.
  3. Today JWP - Djenepo - Boufal (because there isn’t too much pitch for him to think about) In their prime - I’m going to cheat and steal Sir Bobby Robson’s comment for my team “if you could make the ultimate player” You would have the strength of Shearer The speed of Wallace The skill of Le Tissier Oh to have had that combination (all in their prime) on the pitch for Saints in recent years.
  4. What to keep his roots touched up?
  5. Sorry for appearing a bit dim..........Ummm............is that code for meeting up with Whitey this afternoon at Wiggle?!?
  6. For once in my life I am glad I didn't opt for the saver deal at the hotel we booked in Norwich for tomorrow night as the price difference was negligible - I had the possibility of a different beast from the east in mind when sorting it out.
  7. The head of the PFA Union has to keep servicing his alleged Gambling habit I suppose.
  8. Very weird watching Man U and now Wolves playing in an empty stadium
  9. Sod the bog rolls - candles will be sold out by 10:30 tonight on the Red half of Liverpool
  10. It does give them a club with good infrastructure in the the largest football product on the planet. Beyond Formula 1 the Premier League does offer them a huge billboard to the world..............and just for a bit more silliness they would have an Austrian manager in place who understands the Red Bull football management from Leipzig....................Even more bonkers maybe they have placed him as their spy on the inside!! The Southampton FC soap opera continues to amble on.......
  11. I suppose we had better shuffle on to the next one Boys and Girls. Despite their lowly position this is no walk over, not that we walk over teams anymore, they certainly have some fire in the belly for their seemingly futile fight to stay in the league. Hoping it’s one of those topsy turvy entertaining games which have popped up in the past between us, as I get to tick another ground off my list.
  12. I’ll take a few bags of what you are peddling there, my Roses will be blooming marvellous in the summer with that quality of feed!
  13. Reading this thread............I really have to give up going through the turnstiles at SMS and watching the game with my own eyes.
  14. Blimey it would be worse than the icy cold match nights when the crowd have gloves on and the clapping is suppressed, face masks muffling OWTS it would be like watching footie in a padded cell.
  15. and still being paid a tidy sum along the way, great being a footie player, still at least Newcastle set his contract at a mere £22.5k per week and £70k only if he plays.
  16. Cynic!........Which as they say is an optimist with experience! The way the Ref was letting Spurs clatter Cantwell willy nilly did make you think Hmmmmm?
  17. Mithering about Crul being off his line for the last save in particular on iPlayer, Gedsons penalty was so bloody soft he had to go out and collect it. Vorm was well off his line for the first one he saved. 9000 Norwich took - that’ll be a very enjoyable trip home for them.
  18. I heard he was holding out for one of those Eterna Watches that everyone use to get a few years back in the signing photos
  19. l Nope I’m there - I’ve had my head in the mouth of the dragon a few times since this blew up - samples from China coming into the office then taken up to the NEC - then going to a huge trade show in Frankfurt which much of the world descends on. One hall top two floors predominantly Chinese makers - some stands un occupied - including some suppliers. But then Terminal 5 was quiet when we flew out, the show was quiet not the usual buzz, the top two global sourcing floors very quiet. One of our suppliers nice folk good fun, cleared her throat as she was talking I jokingly stepped back, she looked a bit upset so I gave her a hug - 3 weeks have passed since nothing. Cards will be dealt you will just have to roll with it and fight it off. I have another friend and supplier in Guangzhou, she is climbing the walls just wanting to get out and get on with her life, she is working but continuous monitoring of temps is getting monotonous.
  20. Cheers for the heads up on that date
  21. Its like watching football in the School playground - what a pigs ear, its all half baked faffing about outside the box 1-3 easy peasy lemon squeezy.
  22. The gutless capitulation against WH before Christmas and Ralph not happy saw the reset button get hit and we went on a little run, hopefully with Ralphs comments post Saturdays game feeling like deja vu hopefully reset will be hit again. Trouble is when you click through the turnstile on a matchday you have no idea what is going to be on the menu when the ref blows the whistle to start the game. Will it be Al-dente or just soft and soggy? Given up guessing
  23. Well that corner just about sums up the game
  24. We've just looked half baked this afternoon - some of the passing has been pants
  25. Boy some stinky performances being put in today - Bednarek - McCarthy - Armstrong - Long - Hoj -
