Xherdan Shaqiri - £8million move to Southampton
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Monk's topic in The Saints
All it took was one horse's head left on his bed & the Don had convinced Shaqiri to sign. He's also got Messi's family locked up in a secret location so expect him to join soon too. -
My abiding memory is annoyance that we shared a kit with Molenbeek & then Denmark! Used to spend ages setting it up with my mate & then we'd decide to go out for a kickabout instead. Was enjoyable if we did stick at it but not a patch on games like FIFA 12 nowadays.

So we're negotiating but Nicola's playing hardball?

First 2 replies, immediate opposite ends of the spectrum! Be interesting to see how this pans out. View From The Top said his oppo at Burnley said we'd not been back for J Rod & they'd heard we'd got Sharp. He'd be my preferred choice of those named in the OP. Til all is revealed, sources gentlemen please?!

The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to SB's topic in The Saints
I would imagine, no matter how hard we try to keep deals quiet, the football world will get wind of impending deals before they're announced as chairmen, managers et al probably all talk to each other. Here's hoping this news is true because I think Sharp would be the perfect foil for Lambert. Is there an "oppo" you could ask at Donny who could confirm this?? -
Player of the 2011/12 season so far
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
The 3 Dicks are the top 3 for me: 1) Richard Lambert 2) Richard Chaplow 3) Frazer Richardson -
Still think we're more likely to go for, and get, Sharp rather than Maynard. Sharp was the one we went for first at the beginning of the summer & now he's been confirmed as being for sale in January, I think we'll try again.

Always thought we'd go back for him. With Jaidi finishing this season & it being unclear when Seaborne will be back, picking 2 from Fonte or Martin (on the right) & Hooiveld or Fontaine (on the left) gives us good strength in depth at the back. Add Sharp (can see it being him rather than Maynard or LJ) + a wideman (possibly the return of Puncheon?) & I think we'd be pretty much there for the rest of the season. -

This won't happen; I gather his Saturdays are filled up now anyway... -

If we buy all the left backs in England, then Schteeeve will run riot down the right... Amazing long term thinking. -

I honestly think we'll go back for one of our original summer targets like Billy Sharp or Jutkiewicz and I can see Jutkiewicz being the one we actually get. I'm sure one of the reports I read was that we'd made 2 offers: a slightly higher fee for a loan then perm or a slightly lower fee for a straight purchase in Jan. Maybe Cov wanted him for a bit longer to get them out of schtuk and felt happier to take a risk on the lower fee? Would kind of explain his reluctance to talk about our interest in Nov, without dismissing it out of hand. The build up to the window is great: Billy Sharp is selling his house and is nailed on to come here; Zaha & Ambrose are in talks; McGugan is a done deal from Forest with Pucnheon going the other way and now Jutkiewicz is all but done too. I bet Mrs Cortese is well p*ssed off Nicola hasn't been round much to help with the Xmas shopping. Unless these are his presents to Nige... -
Yep. Ankle injury & was scheduled 2 have surgery yesterday.

Interesting that someone on the Blades site has linked us with Billy Sharp again. Are they similar type players?

Was there at Blackburn when Matty won goal of the season. Saw Franny score his goal vs Leicester. Will keep thinking... -
Spoke to Barney after the game and he did his ankle in training and will be having on op on Monday. Unclear how long he'll be out.

Saints "do not have a massive pot of cash"
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Just got off the phone to Nicola & he's said to say that he can confirm that there is no massive pot of money. Apparently it's f**king ginormous. True. -
He's team captain, of course he's going to tow the party line. A good thing too, IMO, as if the players showed public concern then it could affect the mood at home too.

Great news! Welcome aboard the bus permanently Jos. Next stop, Doncaster.

Hooiveld deal to be "wrapped up" tonight
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Would kind of explain Jutkiewicz's comment regarding speculation when asked about the move, which was pretty non-commital about staying at Cov. Interesting stuff. Hopefully, we'll get some good news about Jos today too. -
Whats happened to Lambert's free kicks?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
Danny Fox has scored a few from free kicks at other clubs. Could be worth a try when he's in the side? -
Slightly amended for you!

Hooiveld deal to be "wrapped up" tonight
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
There is an 11.47pm train from Clapham Jcn (which is outer London) to Southampton tonight. Could be this? Whatever his travel arrangements, it's promising news that Jos could soon be a permanent Saint. Fingers crossed! -
Portsmouth Owners Go Into Administration
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Put their fans out their misery, dissolve them & make them do an Aldershot, if they can. But not until after we beat them in December & put right the last couple of wrongs... -
As Nige says: don't get too high when you win or too low when you lose. Next game's at home; beat Hull and the Hammers come unstuck at Boro on Tuesday and all will be fine again.

Would be disappointed if it's something which keeps him out for a while as he's been one of the standout performers in recent games. That said, Chappers grabbed his chance to stay in the team when Lallana was out injured and this could be a chance for Steeeeeve to take his place on the wing. Maybe Holmes even.
