Only truly blinkered Saints fans thought that McCarthy's four performances this season would oust the person who was 50/50 for being Eng number one at the last World Cup. Pickford got the gig due to his distribution, but apparently it was very close between the two. That being the case, Butland was always going to start this friendly. Having said that, shipping in goals for Stoke in the Champ will certainly help McCarthy becoming number 2 'keeper!

Even in this "Opta Era", incisive passes, flicks and touches are not that measurable and fall into the IMHO category. Goals and assists are very measurable and (even at his best) these stats were awful. Considering the position he was often played in, his contribution to the teams success is massively overrated. Also, don't forget....this amazing recent performance was against Bosnia, and they lost.....hardly an performance worthy of lifting his teammates around him! Is should also be noted, any kids starting out in their Saints supporting career will all hear and know about Matt Le Tissier, Alan Shearer, Ricky Lambert etc......but Steven Davis will fall into the Matt Oakley category, and will have to be explained to people what he actually did here.

So, I assume then that he was spraying the ball sideways and backwards more than he hes done in recent years, because goals and assists were never his thing!

Are you using the same web browser across all 3 devices? Have you changed the settings in the browser to clear cookies etc every time you close the browser down?

There was a similar thread on here a while back, where the usual suspects were discussing the top 6/8 breaking away and forming a Euro Super League.....the amount of posters that assumed that once they were gone, we would start being there or there abouts with regards to winning league titles, was very funny.

In this current climate, if you are English and play well for 5-10 games in the Prem, you tend to get a call up to the England squad... I wonder how many Englishmen started last season thinking that if they had a good season, they would be going to a World Cup. I wonder if not getting anyway near that squad would be a kick up the backside for people like Redmond (Could probably included JWP)

Hi, As the title says, looking for a mechanic to take a look at my Sachs SX1 49cc moped, the problem is with its ignition and needs a part replacing. Initially, I rang Double Take but they didn't want to look at it as Sachs is now owned by a Chinese company, and they don't touch Chinese bikes apparently! Then took it to Southampton Motorcycles and have had the worst customer service there that I have ever seen in my 42 yrs on this planet, absolutely shocking service. They had my bike for the best part of a month and have really mucked me about (long story) - I plan to collect it from Soton Motorcycles tomorrow, but the bike is still not fixed. Can anyone recommend a good bike mechanic, I'm happy to do all the running around and source the part required, just need someone qualified to fit the part. Cheers Matt
