  1. For Christs' sake Schteeeve I am literally crapping myself!
  2. Holloway is a moaning pillock first class! He didn't complain when the Ref(?) permitted anything up to a minute for goal kicks by Gilks or throw-ins that gained up to ten yards and the absolute bloody time-wasting throughout the game. That said we weren't as poor as some of the 'armchair brigade' perceived. Right from his first 'fumble' Bart had a bad day at the office.Guly could and should have done better and DID give the ball away far too often. Any defender close to him should have taken on Matt Phillips when he got the ball but preferred to back-track. In my younger days Phillips would have been over the hoardings on the Kingsland side. Whats wrong with a shoulder charge? Have they been outlawed too?
  3. Sue, I too was at Southampton University with John and Alan. (This isreally showing our age!!!) Both Saints through and through.Team was called SocSoc!
  4. Although not necessarily Saints related I've just seen a report that gary Speed (Wales manager and ex Leeds player) has died aged 42 at home in Cheshire. I liked him as a player and often thought how well he would have fitted in with Matty and Co. RIP Gary Our condolences to your family.
  5. So what's new? Same old saints. Play the top teams and win. Play the bottom (Brizzle were 2nd bottom this am) and lose. It's gone, lets have a crack at Hull on Tuesday.
  6. This wasn't our best game Dubai-Phil.That was Middlesborough by far. Saturday was impressive and what really topped it off for me was when Guly went for a ball almost on the halfway line by Kingsland, chased the player with the ball who had to let it go,chased the next player who also had to let it go and onto the third player who lost it to Hammond, who passed it back to Guly who then went forward again. Excellent!
  7. RIP Ricky. You lit up the Hulse Road Social Club many times.
  8. Sorry it should read 'buy' me an ST ..... Apols
  9. I've supported Saints since Jan '57 (hence my forum name) and I now live 200 miles North of our great City. If my nipper didn't but me a season ticket AND drive me the 400 mile round trip then I wouldn't get to the 'home' games. Birmingham,Coventry,Leicester,Forest and Derby are all within an hour and a half travel time by car which means some 'away' games are on my doorstep. Does this mean missing a Tuesday evening 1945 kick off at St Marys make me less of a Saint? We get to SMS when we can. If we lived in Southampton we wouldn't miss a game.I think some of the posters on here forget that there's a heck of a lot of us who have to travel quite long distances to get to see Saints. Yorkie, bless him, is an example.
  10. When I was a Matelot the acronym for a Seagull was '****EHAWK'. We also had a saying 'Brighton for Brown' So every time the 'gulls' shout their nickname we should reply 'SHI..TE'! (With or without the 'E') That's as close to shirtlifting as I can get without being non PC. PS. Mods. Am I permitted to send this ?????
  11. I'm sure you're pretty 'Keynes' on this combination eh?
  12. Who needs Match Reports when we've got the best 'League1 Minus 10'?
  13. What do you expect from a 'privatised' rail system that has TWENTY FOUR franchises all vying for the same customers? British Rail wasn't perfect but at least it was 'OUR' railway. We subsidise the current bunch of 'operators' to a higher degree than we did BR and still they charge more!
  14. He was OK last saturday as he and his WAG were alongside us in the traffic heading home. He gave me the 'thumbs up' and looked all right. If anything is slowing him down it's the 'Blonde'.
  15. At the Dell.Oakley is getting booked and the Ref turns him around to read his shirt number. A wag along from me shouts "Don't tell him Pyke!!!"
  16. I said in the 'build-up' 2 - 1 to Saints as I thought we did get a little to laid back. We should just about grab a win on saturday and go into the International break still at the top.
  17. Sorry about the typo It should read 'our undoing'
  18. Just returned from dropping off my Grandson after a week with us and him being with us to see us thrash 'Boro 3 - 0. My S I L is a Posh STH and says if Posh are allowed to play football then expect an upset. He agrees with me that Saints v 'Boro was one of the best games he's seen this season but don't get complacent because it could be opur undoing. I still think we'll have the edge and I'm going for a 2 - 1 win for saints. COYR's
  19. I said at the time and I'll say it again, Billy and his agent wanted TOO MUCH! Cortese wouldn't entertain them and so the transfer didn't reach fruition.
  20. Slaughter at St. Marys by Hoo Dunnit
  21. My 'Blue' supporting neighbour says 'Don't touch him with the proverbial!' PS He reckons we will 'tonk' WH tonight.
  22. I've read the Blog since Day 1. Bookmark it and click onto the bookmark. That way you don't have to hunt!
  23. How about this (to the Tune of I've been a Wild Rover.....?) I've (we've) supported Southampton for many a year Through the good and the bad times Through sadness and cheer In summer and autumn winter and snow I'll (we'll) follow the saints wherever they go oooo.. and it's Oh! Southampton Our Southampton the Saints We'll support you forever Southampton the Saints No sniping at that lot down the road, No slagging off the opposition Just OUR rendition of why we are SAINTS
  24. TBH WH don't bother me at all. They're a 'London' Club who are very very lucky to be in existence. The name itself conjours up all sorts of memories but don't let sentiment rule your heart. We will WIN on Tuesday and expose Herr Allardice and WH as 'paper tigers'. 3 - 0 to Saints.
  25. Many of us who are lifelong Saints don't live in the catchment area. At a guess I'd say 3 - 4,000 live well beyond the borders of Hampshire. eg Seven of us travel from the West Midlands and Staffs as STH's for all the home games. I often see many other posters on here from outside the immediacy of Southampton. I don't think 'population' has anything to do with 'how many support' our team. Compare other Championship Clubs attendances with Saints and then look at the population of the catchment area.
